They've been doing that since NES. Get a life.

The whining here makes me el-oh-el.

I find it hard to believe that people just accept that it`s ok to show misleading adverts that to someone who does not know would think it`s part of the game.

I only saw ONE advert and it showed a guy walking around a real place with real acters and the advert said `This is not ingame footage`- That was fair enough. I must admit at first I was thinking `WOW`... so i was glad the advert said that.

But i live in Britain, perhaps you guys are in America where false advertising might not bother you guys much.

I only read the first page, but are you kidding me? That was a CGI trailer, probably made by the same company that makes most of these things, Blur Studios

Your first taste of a double-cheesed pizza in 30 years might have you shouting "Piiiiiii Zaaa hut" or "Doooo miii noos". But shouting it after the 10th or 20th time would be a bit too much.

Also, a system to prevent falling would have everyone up in arms about linearity, dumbing down and hand holding. And they would be justified.

Agreed, just take a look at the fast food industry. I can only imagine the outrage when someone discovers their burger doesn't look just like the picture.

So..
Because everyone is a liar that makes it ok to lie?
Hm.

At least most the game video was actually the game, sans some animations. Too often I've seen video for a game its just a cgi mock up and nothing whats actually in the game.

At least when it's CGI, you can tell it won't be in the game and those are mostly teasers anyway.

Now with the first Skyrim gameplay trailer, you couldn't possibly know which aspects would make it in the game and IIRC they stated that it was ALL actual gameplay....

When it was released Bethesda was up front that it was all made in-engine but some things were made for the trailer. I'm pretty sure they specifically mentioned special animations.

I don't think so...

I feel like I got exactly what they advertised. To me is nearly a perfect TES game that just needs a few patches and balancing tweaks to be perfect.

Follow the Operation Flashpoint franchise for a year or two and buy their games, THEN complain about false advertising. What you described is completely [censored] in comparison.

Skyrim nitpickers: "What? We want to go to the Moon!

More like:

Us: We were already past there, in Morrowind.

Morrowind was more like reaching near the speed of light, exiting this galaxy. Skyrim is like getting poisoned for believing the Earth is Round.

There is no product anywhere that matches the advertising. That applies from a brand new four door sedan to a computer game to hamburgers.

Morrowind is like a beautiful woman, only because of having too many beers. Skyrim is like a beautiful woman while sober, but brain-dead.

Skyrim is a pretty shell with no inside. Morrowind has a filling. A rich, delicious filling. Skyrim is like the Mannequin from that [censored] movie, Morrowind was like Kim Cattrall after the mannequin came to life.

Morrowind is like a sandbox filled with dog poop, but also treasure. Skyrim is just a clean sandbox.

Skyrim is like getting sewed into bed during the courting of a 16th century daughter. Morrowind is a salacious blood orgy with huffers, WD-40 and the Shoulder pads from the Legion of Doom, with the sax player from The Lost Boys in the background.
