Bethesda....

super bugged? I dont really see that many bugs compared to other sandbox games.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but what sandbox games do you have in mind? All the open world games that I can think of are far more polished and stable than Skyrim is. Even something like Terran Conflict, that's renowned for its instability and buggy quests is far better than Skyrim as far as things "working as intended".

My conversation hasn't been about Bethesda, it's been about all/any companies. Bethesda is a company who obviously want to patch their game and make people happy. I was just saying they didnt HAVE to.

I must have misunderstood you then, I apologize. As to making people happy, I agree with you and did so in my first response to your post. I just think the reason they want to make people happy is not out of kindness - but with future sales in mind. So while they don't "have" to release patches, their compelled to do so from a financial point of view.

A lot of things come into play while thinking about why they patch it. Obviously they arent forced to do it, hence the Kindness part. And obviously they want to have a good standing with the community, which is them having future sales in mind.

I've worked at a bar for a few years, and sometimes people ask me to recommend a wine or something, and it does happen every now and then that they dont like what they get. what happens? do they get a new one for free? not really, they get to buy a new one if they want to, but when it comes to the one they already said they wanted and opened, its theirs, too bad, better luck next time.

You mean a whole bottle, not just a glass, right?

It's pretty obvious there is a HUGE range of opinions on just how "buggy" the game is. There are those posting in this topic as if EVERYONE is having massive game-breaking / stop playing bugs and then those that say they don't have ANY issues. The reality is somewhere in the middle. The game certainly has more than a few issues, but it certainly appears as if Bethesda is attempting to correct them. Suggesting that Bethesda "owes" a customer something extra is aburd, but I would certainly not be surprised if they release some additional content as a bonus with a future patch, but not because they "need" to. The real fact of the matter is that the scope of this game makes a "perfect" product near impossible. Bethesda has alwasy made a reasonable effort to correct the largest of these issues, so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt until I see otherwise.

To be 100% honest, I think most of these issues are due to Bethesda clinging to the GameBryo technology they were familiar with. The "new" engine is certainly improved, but it is NOT "new". They did it this way to release a game of this scope years earlier than if they had actually gone with a completely new development platform. Not the best course of action, but I can't complain that hte results have not entertained me for more hours than I'd care to admit.

I think if they had pushed the date back, it would have been a lot better at launch

nobody will dispute that, i totally agree although i have only got the game a week ago (when the offer was £23 on steam) so my expereience is probably better due to the few patches that have been released to help :D

Just because some people don't encounter the bugs doesn't mean they're not there. I'm not saying they arent patching them, but they're there.

limited amount of internal and external testers compare that to the player base....

hundreds of thousands of different system specs/speeds/processors/cards to test them all one, people doing things that are not intended (could cause bugs) things done in a certain order may cause a bug while another way doesnt.

it's impossible to completley test a game of this size and have it bug-free when you buy open-world RPG's expect bugs, if you expect it to be perfect you wont be happy.

It's equally impossible to have HALF THE MAIN QUEST bugged by just ONE NPC at release... yet, they did it in Skyrim, which means they had no QA at all... There is no other possible explanation for the Esbern bug...

That's gonna be funny when that's the content they give for free....(awesome joke that would give them tons of free PR).

Game is worth double the price, actually, so...

No.

Please stop saying that, otherwise game publishers will charge more since and mugs like you will pay it.

The Witcher 2 had quite a few free DLC's and new patched addons so it all depends on how greedy or fair the company is. CDProjeckt Red have their morals in the right place.

Not everyone has a buggy game. My game has worked just fine and I'll be more than happy to pay for DLC. If you don't like the game don't play it or get DLC. Sometimes the gaming technology is surpassed by the game itself, in these cases a few bugs and glitches are more than acceptable considering you're playing one of the most advanced and in depth games available.

this whole topic in the way it was done is moot....Skyrim has been out not even a full 2months and they have alrdy released 3 patches, yes one of them did break the game but they released a patch to fix the patch. we would alrdy have gotten more patches IF it was christmas time so alot of people are on vacation and whatnot.

The most serious issues are all on consoles so your argument that they couldn't test what it would be played on holds no water.

Have you noticed all of the problems with houses? Weapon plaques, racks and mannequins not working. Those are incredibly easy things to test and there is no deviation based on player choice, your either use one or don't. This is an obvious sign Skyrim wasn't play tested very well. I understand your point, some things in a game this complicated will get missed but I believe the evidence suggests they didn't test the game well.

No way is this game worth less than a Call of Duty game. Yet it cost me less.

People aren't mugs for putting a greater value on something than they paid for it.

one of the most advanced

Gamebryo (Updated or not) is 10+ years old.

How is that advanced?

Can't really argue with you. I've already put 120 hours into Skyrim and I got maybe 10 out of Uncharted 3. Kind of absurd they cost the same.

(thank god I rented Uncharted)

You do understand that the different varieties of this bug appear to depend on partial completeion of a number of other quests potentially being at a certain state when you try to speak to Esbern, right? I'm not excusing the existance of this bug, just stating that there must be litterally THOUSANDS of different potential combinations of this quest and all the other game quest that would have need to been testing before the release for a QA test to have caught something like this. I have done this quest beyond this point a dozen times and seen NO issue, so your claim of NO QA AT ALL is just hype.

Windows 7 is much older. You build on existing technology that works, not scratch it and built it again every time just for the [censored] and giggles.

"When" Bethesda has fixed some of the many bugs/glitches in the game, they should give us Free DLC. Just what some of the players have been through and proof that they haven't spend 60 dollars/euros to a game thats full of bugs/glitches.

Tell me your opinion.

No. I don't believe they should.

I DO believe that should give the majority of sane posters on here the right to come by and have a free slap of incoherent moaners like this, though.

I'd respect that.

You can't say that Gamebryo is advanced at the point W7 is.

W7 has significant changes whereas if you play Skyrim, then play FO3, Morrowind etc... you can tell it's the same engine.

As it should because it's just a single player game with old tech. It's equivalent to CoD in the fact that they have reused the old engine time after time and the game is a shadow of what it really could be. £30 is a fair price for a game like this but I got The Witcher 2 box set for £24.99

Yet I can tell Windows 7 is Windows. I can tell they've reused the taskbar and start menu feature every single time. Applications sometimes lag on opening in the same way. Startup still takes forever compared to other OSes just like it always has. When I play Skyrim, I can tell it's based on the same engine from F3. It doesn't mean there aren't any significant changes.

I personally thought the Witcher 2 was pretty mediocre at best.
