Yeah it looks like NineTales, maybe a 3rd evolution?

Looks like a cross between a neanderthal, maybe Ninetails, and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r616xpM1BAI.

It's supposed to be really important to the next Pokemon movie, I don't see how a Sandslash evolution would be featured very prominently. I can see a Ninetales evolution being important though, since Ninetales is supposed to have some sort of psychic powers.

I hope it's not though, because I like Ninetales and this thing looks stupid.

It's a completely unsubstantiated rumor that it is supposed to be important. No where is there anyone officially stating it is important to the next movie. It was just reporters looking into it more and speculating. So technically it could very well be an evolved form of Sandslash.

They said that it "holds the key" to the next movie... not exactly unsubstantiated.

Well Munchlax was the first 4th gen Pokemon revealed, and it was in the Deoxys movie, so a new Pokemon certainly doesn't have to be important to be revealed in a movie.

They just have to be hungry.

Interesting theory I've started to see float around the interwebs-- it could be a werewolf like Pokemon, possibly a Mightyena evolution.

Slowking was semi-important in Pokemon 2000 and the Unown were important in Pokemon the Movie 3, and neither of those Pokemon are rare or legendary so I'd say it could still be an evolution of a regular Pokemon.

I doubt it, there aren't any unnecessary spikes in that silhouette.

Besides everybody knows that the 3rd Lucario evolution will just be one giant spike.

It doesn't have the ears or the hand-spike things to be a Lucario evolution.

Right, but I still don't think anything in the Sandshrew line would feel right. There's nothing special about Sandshrew. The Unown are special, Slowking is psychic and could "talk." An evolution of Ninetales would would work, way back in the anime a Ninetales created illusions and talked through an illusion of her owner. Or it could be something else, that's just one that I think could make sense.

You're all too sure that it's an evolution of something. Seems to me that it's a standalone Pokemon. Possibly even the version mascot legendary.

NInetails also played a major role in the firts mystery dungeon game, Ninetails told the future or something like that, mt mind is fuzzy.

Just discussing theories on what it could be. Where's the fun in saying "oh it's a brand new pokemon, completely unrelated to anything else!" Not really any discussion in that...

Well think about it, Slowpoke wasn't anything special either, yet they made Slowking for some reason. They turned a mentally challenged Pokemon into a genius, so maybe they'll turn Sandslash, a Pokemon good at digging, into Sandperior, a Pokemon good at performing open-heart surgery.

This is relevant. Beedrill is now my most favorite pokemon. All bow to him.

Boy were we all off. Well, at least I correctly guessed it would have a huge amount of hair

Looks like once the next movie is released in Japan, it wont be long until the next set of games is announced.

Yay it's not a Ninetales evolution! I really like the colors they picked, it doesn't look quite as stupid as I thought. Still don't like the super thin arms or clown makeup though.

Also it's interesting because I saw a fan rendition a couple days ago and it was really close.

I'm more bothered by the fact that it's another Dark type.

What is the deal with "cute first level pokemon" followed by "bad ass looking pokemon"?

They keep doing more of it.

Well, obivoulsy the first three are. But we have Clefairy and Chancy. I am not necessarily complaining, but it just seems weird.
