I'm a bit surprised that so many women play Skyrim

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 12:41 pm

Didn't think that so many people would play such a game.

Just looking at Skyrim on tumblr you see tons of women posting things about it.

Find woman that plays Skyrim + Wear Amulet of Mara = A happy man.

Or you won't if you've had any extended contact with the Internet. But yeah, most of 'em are dudes, dude.

What? Women play Skyrim! No way! There not allowed to play games. Kidding. I know some pretty bad ass girl gamers that can woop a man any day in a multiplayer game.

I'm a woman and I've played through both Oblivion and Skyrim. I also completed Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, and a bunch of other games. I've also worked as a concept artist for a game that was never released (designed a sewer area, and spider creature). I love games. Probably one of the reasons why I'm single, I'd rather sit at home and play a good RPG than go hang out at bars or the mall.

A lot of women play video games, especially RPG's.

They just don't broadcast it because there are a lot of creepy dudes in the video game community (including these forums) who jump at the chance to make a big deal out of it.

Or perhaps a lot of them are actually women and repeating a platitude when you have no way of knowing if its true is just silly.

According to a survey done in 2004 by the Entertainment Software Association, 25 percent of console players and 39 percent of PC game players are women.

I don't know... but on all the skyrim forums I go to, people always say "he" when they talk about me. They assume I'm a guy. It's kind of annoying.

Actually the majority of the Skyrim fans I've met on DeviantArt are female.
At the old Lucien LaChance fan forum, almost everyone there was female and that was a really active forum.

I've always found men that play female characters to be creepy. Usually says something about their real life.

Allot if girls play video games too, especially rpgs. Still not as much as guys but it’s hardly unusual. Allot of people however seem to follow the logic of “if I don’t see it doesn’t exist!”. Of course they probably have meet and seen many girls who play video its just most people don’t go around announcing their gender online or telling every random person they see that they are gamers.

Same. Except for GW2G Forums oddly enough.

It says they like playing video games with characters who are not merely representations of themselves in a video game world. In an RPG... isn't that the point? I'm female and two of my three most played characters are men. Those were the characters I felt like creating -shrugs-

I prefer to play as a female character. It feels weird to play as a guy. Except in a lot of games I'm not given an option.
