Bring the Legion back!

Post » Thu Jun 16, 2011 6:51 am

I would really like to see the legion in the next game. I also want them to be a playable faction. Joining the legion and beating the game with them was a blast. And my discussions with Caesar was the most interesting and awesome ones I had ever had in a video game. I also had an Idea. Maybe we could have the legion go to California and have an epic showdown with the New Californian Republic? I'm saying this because you guys have talked about California in your previous games and I thought it would be cool to go there. The Brotherhood of Steel, Raiders, New Californian Republic, Legion, and whatever crazy factions you guys can come up with can be there. It will be epic.

But Please bring the legion back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMO CL has no place attempting to challenge fo largest known real army.

86 tribes united into a very poor depiction of the Roman Legions was a horrible idea IMO. The White Legs of HH were a far more worthy enemy in combat. If cl is too stupid to arm their forces with good weapons, and use the best medical care products fo has to offer then they have no place as a major player in fo.

They left some of the best parts of the Roman Legions out and added a stupidity about tech and medical care in its place. The Romans were the cutting edge of their times. If there were stimpacks they would use them.

CL is the weakest video game fighting force I have ever seen in 24 years of playing video games. They need to go look around in cl country a little harder for top quality weapons before I would consider them legit....... The way they are now they are a joke.

Caeser can use medical tech to save himself, but his men who will be mowed down by overwhelming firepower get healing powder. lol

They are a joke..

Ah Mr. Rook, I knew you would be in this thread lol.

I would love to see the Legion return BUT in their territory. That way we can get a better interaction/understanding of their lives, while not preparing for war.

I would like to see them again with the overwhelming "THESE ARE THE BAD GUYS!" motif. TBH its actually one of the more interesting factions but... They really don't stand any chance against the NCR or especially the BoS. Machete vs walking tanks? Who do you think would win. It would be awesome to see them again being led by someone who is less of an ass really. Caesar is someone who I can't bring myself to like because of the way the Legion was portrayed this need for a villain fell to Caesar and he became this sort of arrogant ass who doesn't even lead the military operations anymore.

But if they do appear in the next or another game I would like to see some movement in their tech and society.

I think the game was rushed. If Obsidian had as much time to make New Vegas as BGS did with FO3 they would have fleshed out the Legion and put more depth into the game, included some dungeons, and polished out most of the bugs. This is what you get when you give a 3rd party a little over a year to make an epic game using an unfamiliar and rather inefficient engine.

IF they are born again fo hard then I wouldn t mind them so much, but they way they are now I d rather they all die.

A loss to the NCR (again) and throwing Caeser into the Grand Canyon might actually be good for the legion. Then they (the devs) could spend some time remaking them into something to fear a little in combat. Excluding Lanius the White Legs took away more hit points from me in HH than cl did in 2 playthroughs against them. And I go kill Caeser........ Point lookout tribals killed me more times in PL than I ve died from cl in 2 playthroughs against them.

Only Lanius ever dominated me, and that was only the first time I saw him and was not nearly prepared for the carnage that goes down in his camp.

Given more time, I think they could have represented them better. Like i said before, the Legions isn't innocent but not many factions in NV are. It's obvious the devs spent more time on the NCR; i'd like to see CL more fleshed out.

I have no problem with them returning if they get rid of Caesar. Just say he had a nephew named Augustus and have him take over do some reforms like giving them better weapons or something.

The Roman way was to adopt whoever you wanted to be your successor. I think passing on the title to a blood relative was the exception and not the rule.

The thing about the Legion is that they actually play their cards right unlike the NCR. The Legion keeps their eyes on the prize instead of pleasing brahmin barons in California. It's because of that they're the biggest threat the NCR is facing in the Mojave wasteland and are also the best suited to win the second battle for the Hoover Dam. And the BoS? Caesar barely even recognized the Mojave chapter as a threat.

And sorry, I know some people want CL to be the new Enclave Bad, but that is simply stupid and unfair.

And for the love of god, drop the "they only use machetes" nonsense.

The low level Legion in my games are destroying the NCR patrols by using cowboy repeaters and 10mm SMGs... stupid NCR are using Service Rifles and 9mm SMGs. Every tier the NCR seems to be out-geared, but they do even out at the top end.

The Legion has to come back (At some point), they're almost as big as NCR, a nation doesn't just disappear over night.

Lore wise, they're some of the more interesting villains in FO. However, the gameplay needs to reflect the lore in the next game.

Why would they need to be villains? They're no worse compared to the NCR for example.

I think most consider them villains because of their brutal yet efficient tactics. Not too mention, the devs "push" them to be the stereotypical villain more so than the other factions.

I'm not a fan of the Legion's ideals in New Vegas, but wouldn't mind seeing them in another game. Maybe a Legion Civil War (if the Legion win NV) or shaping a defeated civilization into something new (If the Legion lose NV).

I just honestly don't expect the Legion to reappear as they are now. I feel without Caesar the Legion will crumple. I mean don't get me wrong the NCR could have a rebellion but I think it would be a lot less drastic due to the ability to impeach or kill off a president and install a new. The Legion's whole plan is going off one man without that man it will fall, but maybe that would be for the better.

You can learn a good deal about certain factions if you simply take the time to look into them.

And a brutal wasteland requires brutal tactics; how else would they have achieved so much in just 3 decades?

I agree with you, i've looked into the histories and read as much information as I can, on a lot of factions. Gives you a better perspective overall.

It really depends on where F4 is set, the legion is based in a region like the NCR, so unless a lot of time has passed when F4 starts, they should only be in the game if it's set somewhere close to where they are "now".

SLAVES, FORCING ENSLAVED WOMEN TO HAVE six TO BREED MORE WORTHLESS SCUM CL.

VIEWING WOMEN AS NOTHING MORE THAN BREEDING STOCK.

I think that about covers it. That ^^^^^ is not grey it is pure evil.

Like I always say........ The guys you don t want coming to your town are the evil ones, and when cl gets there say by to mommy, your wife/girl friend, your sisters, your daughters, all the women you know love them or hate them belong to Ceasers Legion now.

WHO IS READY TO SIGN UP!?

Don t worry you ll be giving a lawn mower blade and 6dt body armour and put right in the front. So, you don t have to worry about sign ups.

Sounds like a group I d rather not have in my town.

Im sure many will argue they would love to give up any women they know, and then be used as the most useless cannon fodder I can imagine.

They separate women from their original "tribes" to eliminate the group's sense of individuality and traditions. The only culture tolerated by CL is that of CL.

In fact, most people have high opinions about them.

Yep. The needs of the whole are more important than the needs of individuals. Something, most other factions, have forgotten. Greed and individual goals, were the cause of the Great War in the firs place.

I feel without Caesar the Legion will crumple.

Nah, they won't crumble, but they will change, whether Caesar lives or died, whether they win or lose, they will change.
I'm more interested in the synthesis if they win and Caesar lives, but I'd be okay with Legion losing if Lanius gets persuaded to just walk away.
The synthesis will evolve Legion into what Caesar planned, possibly starting a new form of government within the Legion. (With Caesar still as the top dog.)
But them losing and Lanius walking away could also be interesting.
Instead of Lanius focusing on war he'll focus on strengthening the Legion lands and might change a little.

Cause as Lanius is now?
Spoiler

I mean, he takes over Boomers and a lot of legionnaires loses their lives.
And he'll more than gladly send legionnaires after The Remnants despite them being far superior.

So either of these two could really help the Legion in different ways.
But Caesar and Lanius dying?

That might mean civil war and them breaking down.
I don't think it's likely to happen but there is always a chance for it.
And I don't think it's fair to just let them break up to various raider tribes again after getting such a [censored] implementation in New Vegas.

So anyway, when they're brought back they won't be the same as in New Vegas.
Hopefully the change isn't some [censored] "They're in a decline" bullcrap. (If anyone should be in a decline it's NCR after 3 [censored] games...)

The Roman Empire was more or less like this but you don't see them as "the scum of the History".

In fact, most people have high opinions about them.

I'm not very knowledgable on history but didn't they kinda unite the world too? (The lands they conquered at least)
