can we PLEASE get a DLC announcement...

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 6:38 am

Wow, major wrong facts flying about here.

Bethesda never announced a DLC a month after release. They've signed an exclusivity agreement with Microsoft so that all thepaid DLC will be released a month before every other platform. That's it. Nothing about when the DLCs will be released. Plus it's been confirmed that these DLC will be bigger Fallout 3 style addons, not the 10 minute Oblivion DLC job.

The Xbox and PS3 are seriously underpowered in the RAM and VRAM departments. The high resolution texture pack makes my high end GPU push 1GB of VRAM. The Xbox has 256MB of VRAM. If you try using the high resolution DLC on the Xbox or PS3 you'll literally be reduced to a slideshow. It's not a case of them preferring the PC, it's a case of the PC having the possibility of having much, much better specs than an average computer/console, so they've released a pack to accommodate that. Nothing wrong with that.

Also, the next generation of consoles won't be out this year. It'll be a long time yet.
The 360 has 512, not 256.

As far as i'm concerned Bethesda can take their sweet time with the DLC if it means we are getting something with the scale of SI, Over the last couple of years the demand for DLC has seen some developers turn greedy & package up any crap to satisfy needs, Charging you for stuff that is in game already & charging you to unlock it.

That's the fault of the fans demanding quick & easy DLC & has led to a culture of being drip fed crap by certain developers knowing that their customers will lap it up.

Let them take their time & produce something wonderful, If we pressure them for quick DLC all we are going to get will be a quick DLC, Rubbish.

512MB of "shared memory". 265MB basically of usable VRAM,

When you consider the game uses 1GB of VRAM minimum with the texture pack and 2-3GB of normal RAM (which makes 4GB total) and the Xbox has 512MB, then yes, it's underpowered.

An HD pack that could of easily been put on the 360, and in fact, they owe it to the 360 and ps3 due to the ridiculously pathetic 3.8 gig install size of the game, the PC already had a 6 gig install size, so their textures were FINE comparatively. And from what I read, also some weapons.
I doubt that. Several textures inside the pack weight 5,5MB each once compressed (btw the Xbox 360 and PS3 GPUs use the same compression scheme as PC GPUs do). There are even a few as big as 22MB.

Yet my laptop with easily 4x the power has trouble running with a consistent FPS in Skyrim. Even running with "360 graphics".
It will run Oblivion with everything maxed out and hi-res textures, but not vanilla Skyrim...

I don't know what the story is, but its most of the reason I CBF with PC gaming. Better things to do then troubleshoot something that's supposed to be relaxing.

Patches, fixes? Fixing patches? Surely more important than rushing dlc?
This, we don't need another EAgames.

I don't want DLC rushed, but it'd be nice to know what we're going to be getting. Even if they say its due December or later or have no ETA at all.

They will be working on DLC at the moment, almost guaranteed. Like they said in numerous interviews prior to release. They have teams designated to Patching, DLC and future title developement.

yeah, the fact that i said we'd get it a month after release was me typing a thought incorrectly, sue me? that has nothing to do with the thread lol. they didn't say that, i get it, i typed it wrong. they said a month before ps3/pc. also, stop acting like a self righteous fan-boy like you DON"T want a dlc announcement. who wouldn't want a dlc announcement, rofl. that's just stupid.

I'm sorry but what are you getting at exactly?

if you said something miss typed or not it is still part of your original paragraph / statement and thus becomes an integral part of the thread or whatever context it is in.
for example you wouldnt write a book and have ''and thus he died...'' at the end then issue a statement saying ''sorry i miss typed it he doesnt die'' it changes the whole course of the book, what you typed and what you miss typed brings a different context to the original post thus changing alot of the attitude towards you and the situation you are talking about.

everyone wants an anouncement sure but what the majority want before any such thing is for the Dev team to create a fairly large DLC with a great story that is worth the money we dont want another ''Horse Armor'' also there a still major bugs in the game that need to be fixed and sorted before any sort of DLC comes out that should be there priority at the moment.

I don't want a DLC anouncement. I prefer that they would work on bugs and stuff like that first. Still have a lot to do in the game.

NV was released in October, Dead Money in December and DM was really good. So...I want a DLC now.

Doing the same radiant quests over and over kinda gets boring.

Personally i probably won't buy the DLC as soon as it comes out anyway , i will most likely wait for the GOTY version and just trade in my old game disc. Then hopefully when they're done with DLC for Skyrim they will release a new Fallout :D

This.

They've promised that DLC this time will basically be expansion-sized stuff, so I wouldn't rush them. We're not getting horse armor.

As much as I would love to hear what they are planning, I want to be able to complete the Companions quild questline for starters by them fixing that FACKING "Hired Muscle" quest by making you fail the quest because the NPC they assigned you was killed by a Dragon...

I want them to take their time because I want a very fat and meaty expansion. But I just want to know what it's about, and when we can see it.

I want a very fat and meaty expansion too but I don't want to know what it's about or when it's gonna be released. At least not yet. I don't want them to start thinking about stuff they want to add but they can't because of time-issues. If they set a date that means they gotta be ready to release it on that date. I want them to take their sweet time and do the best work possible. Which I think is the best in the business when they don't have to meet those insane deadlines.

I only read the title, but is pretty self explanatory. Bethesda has made a game with (even if you rush through) hundreds of hours of game play. I believe it has been....maybe 90 days since release of this game. Chill out, play your game and don't demand things that are privileges. It's a good lesson to carry out into your RL conflicts. Do not bash a company for something that was never promised or released as even happening. I don't want to profile you, but you sound like you must be of younger decent, according to your actions. And how legitimately upset you are about them not giving DLC, when they are trying to fix they're game for everyone's enjoyment. Please, be patient. Your gonna end up burning yourself out before the DLC is released.
