[Relz] Companion Sandbox Mode

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:06 pm

I don't think it is a 'problem', they have been scripted to do so. As far as I know it's intentional. It makes sense too.

Unless it's a workaround for some bug, but I haven't seen that.

I found the issue with the clothes, it happens only with Raul, Cass and Arcade, when they only have their default outfit on them. I fixed it now.

I think I'll add the clothing options through dialogue or maybe a pop up menu that appears the first time when you tell a companion to relax.

I have noticed that they still refuse to sit down some times and then warp to another place in the room, wasn't this fixed in the last version?

I thought I did. Unless there is another thing that can cause it. Which companion did you have this problem with, and does he/she do anything special when he/she walks to a chair but doesn't sit down? Like any kind of animation?

It's Cass so far...dont have any other companion yet, she is just walking toward a sofa and stands in front of it. Some times she sits down and immediately stands up, if i open up here inventory and close it she warps to another location in the room we is located in.

I don't know what's causing it anymore. I'm guessing it would happen to other NPCs as well, if those weren't already in sandbox mode the moment you enter the cell. It also looks like it's specific to certain furniture.

Anyway the next version is almost done. It allows you to choose whether you want your companions to switch to casual clothing as they do now, or keep their current armor equipped. It also fixes the problem with some companions being naked when you tell them to follow you again. Another thing is that letting your companions relax will not make them return home after 7 days anymore.

Sounds good povuholo :)

Now we only need an option to tell them to put on the sleep ware when they relax at home :D

The mod is going to need updating for better compatibility with the new patch. The new patch makes companions level slightly slower, and increases their level cap from 20 to 40.

For some reason Veronica's XP multiplier was messed up on the first release of the game, if I'm seeing this right she was getting 12 times the normal experience, instead of 0.75 times, but another faulty setting prevented her from getting any XP at all.

There were some other changes as well. ED-E now starts out with 8 DT instead of 0, and the armor upgrade raises this to 20 (instead of 8). And they changed his combat behaviour.

I might be able to finish this update today. :)

I have an issue with Veronica.

I basically just got her, and told her to relax. She puts on a dress and goes to sit down. Simple enough, except, I never gave her a dress, and once i tell her to stop waiting, she doesn't put her armor back on. And I have to go into her inventory and exit just to get her powerfist back.

I noticed that too only I had given her a dress. She only ever puts on one dress, no matter what you give her even if you give her the Formal Wear. This is the same with all the companions, each has only one visual appearance (one comfy outfit) that is set in stone in the Mod.

She does put her armor back on though in my game. So do the other companions.

Don't worry about companions re-equipping their weapon, that's just equivalent to holstering the weapon. When a weapon is needed your companion will select and equip whatever weapon is appropriate.

The companions only have one outfit they equip, yeah. Any issues with companions not putting their armor back on have been fixed for the upcoming update, which will be released on friday/saturday.

She'll wear the green one by default but once you give her Formal Wear (or White Glove Society attire) she'll wear that instead. It's done by checking if the player has the Scribe Counter perk.

There's one more thing bugging me. Companions re-equip their helmets if you leave them to relax and come back later (when the cell has to load again). I've made sure the clothing items overwrite the body slots that helmets use, so they do unequip their helmet when they change clothes, but later on they still equip them anyway. :brokencomputer:

The only solution I see is adding a casual hat for everyone... :P

Version 2.2 has been released!
-Updated the mod to include the changes made to companions by the new official patch.

-You can now choose if you want your companions to relax in their casual clothing or not.

-Relaxing companions (in casual clothing) will no longer wear helmets. Sometimes they re-equip them after a while though.

-Veronica wears her plain green dress when relaxing, but will start wearing the Formal Dress if you give her one.

-Fixed a problem with some companions not properly re-equipping their armor after relaxing.

-Companions will no longer leave you after 7 days if you leave them relaxing, like they would when you tell them to 'wait'.

Download the file again now, I made a little stealth update, couldn't bother to update the documentation and everything again. There was a little mistake that made it impossible to change your preferences a second time.

Anyway, to do this, you have to open the console, click on your companion (so their name appears at the top of the screen), and type one of the following.

To make them wear outfits:
startconversation player PovClothingGoCasual

To make them wear their armor:
startconversation player PovClothingKeepArmor

This will make them greet you with the topic that sets the preference.

Just open FNVEDIT and drag all the NPC changes you did into his .esp ;)

I am doing this for years, and the only time I needed a Merged Patch was for F3.

No problems, already fixed it :)

EDIT: The big drawback with this mod now days is that if you use the option that they don't change clothes in relax mode you cant give manually change clothes on them ether, like Veronica...if i tell here to relax and then take here armor and give here something else she wont use it, she uses the formal dress instead :(

I hope you have will make a version where the change clothes option is gone like in your first release, so we can change clothes and armor on them as we want.

Damn, another mistake. The formal dress has a DT of 5. It should be 0, so that everything else takes priority. Thanks.

Are you using a mod that allows you to remove her default armor? Veronica's robe has a higher DT than the dress so I wasn't getting the issue. But I can fix it.

Now I'm confused... Should I wait for another update? Probably yes.

Some errors in the Mod:

FormId
3032 PovCompanionOutfitAdderQuestScript <-- not used (deleted)

3e90 <-- not used (deleted)
What's worse is that the above is set to run at game startup and has no attached script. I can only think that might have bad consequences.
3031 PovCompanionOutfitAdderQuest <-- not used (deleted)
3313 PovCompanionOutfitAdderQuest2 <-- not used (deleted)

By the way, I do not want to be opening the console. So now I'm also confused by your comment above, what's that supposed to do or fix?

Why don't you want to open the console? And please don't say its because of the useless achievements. If that is your worry, then just do it, then close the game, and restart it. It only logs console use per session.
