Yeah, are we still going to do the 10 TtBAt0 thing? Because that might be all that's left, really... geez, after 7 threads, you'd think that we'd have this all figured out by now. :P

Ha! Of course not... there's so very very very little about Alchemy and Enchanting in these threads! How could I have overlooked that? :P

I'm a fan of perks that add new levels of utility to the char, like Sprint Power Attack... those kinds of perks enable you to do more "stuff", rather than just increasing numbers using abilities you already have. For example, Sprint Power Attack is super-handy for taking down mages and archers when you are being chased by bad guys all around.
I like Sprint Power Attack. But shield charge blows it out of the water. It is a free "I Win Button" against targets that it works - no crafting at all. Any humonid char has no chance. Especially if you have Respite or Stamina Potions. If you have never tried it then I highly recommend giving it to yourself through the console and try it out. 100% knockdown - no resist other then being to big to knockdown. Feels like bowling in Tameril. Knockdown - power attack, power attack. Then another knockdown.

Also, it would be interesting to see the chances of decapation with standing power attack. Does the Paralyze perk really fire 25% of the time.

One thing this thread has shown is that the in-game description of perks are not particularly accuate. LOL, just like every other RPG out there.
And to think I was geeting ready to drop 6 perks into buffing swords/maces for the special perks until I read this thread.

You rock, Domilasa. :)

Here, here! Second that. Hats off to everyone who is spending time figuring this game out.

Holy crap, you're right... the Paralyze perk description could be wrong, couldn't it? Is there any easy way to check, without the CK (which would give us exact numbers), and without going in-game and whacking people in a controlled fashion over and over again? Probably not.

I'd be willing to bet that decap is around 5-10%, just from anecdotal experience.

No way to test proc chances that I know of. At this point though just about anything in the game could be (and probably is :P) misleading.

Edit: I'll hopefully be playing The Old Republic in about 12 hours so testing might slow down after that ;)

Yep, even if we had the construction set we would not know the answer. Some functions would be broke! At least that is my experience with testing/decoding RPG's.

On the decap trigger - I get the decap kill animation a lot. But that is on a non-power attack when I take the perk. I have not noticed the decap animation fire when my target is near full health during a standing power attack! Except against one-shot trash mobs. Never against a named NPC boss. Be interesting to do a series of standing power attacks against a bandit that 2000 health and see how often you could one-shot him. (With a non-munchkin build here. LOL, maybe boost his health to 10000 so he could surive against Domilasa's characters for more then 2 attacks! Or give him 700+ armor.)

It's not interactive right now :P though people who have helped contribute to this thread can PM me for editing priviledges if they want to try it out.

Anyone with your original link can save a copy for themselves and interact with it to their heart's content^^

Regarding Shield Charge, I agree with beancounter that it's incredibly powerful; which is one of the reasons I don't use it. It trivializes a lot of fights because you can bulldoze groups of enemies to ground without breaking a sweat. It's also buggy as hell; there's no resistance upon Shield Charging a target, so you can never be sure if you missed, and it frequently clips enemies through walls, the ground, etc. With some proper modding, it could be a great perk, but right now it's too overpowered/ buggy for my tastes.

Regarding Savage Strike/ Devastating Blow, everything I've read on the subject indicates that it's simply an alternative finishing animation that triggers just as frequently and under the same conditions as normal animations; (1) one shotting a weak mob, (2) landing a killing blow on the last mob in a group of hostiles, etc.. Have any of you experienced obvious decapitations under circumstances that normally wouldn't be eligible for a finishing animation?

Ah, I bet some enemies have a "cantbeinstakilled" flag set to where the decap won't work on them... that would make sense from a game design perspective, anyway -- prevents an anticlimactic end to a dungeon dive that way.

"What? The peon lurking at the entrance to the cave was harder to kill than the boss?"

-Loth

Edit: To answer Whiskey's question... hmm... maybe I haven't. It's tough to say, primarily because the tougher guys (bosses) don't seem to get decapped at all. If this is the case, and you are right that it just unlocks alternate kill animations, that would be really nice to know in order to save an otherwise wasted (unless seeing the decap is just incredibly entertaining for you) perk.

You do not think a Bioware MMO will not be broke? Even there single player games are broke, Biowarre is great at writing, but blows in building challenging gameplay. At least since the Baldurs Gate series. The last bioware game that was hard.

The perk also gives +25% damage which does work. So not entirely useless.

I'm sure there will be many broke things, but MMOs have other people in them and companies are usually better at patching them than single player games ^.^

I am sure others have stumbled onto this but its should be noted that the +50% to fire/frost/shock perks effects the respective enchants on (self-chanted) weapons.

Can anyone else check to make sure that Corpus Enchanter doesn't affect Absorb Health, Magicka and Stamina, not sure if my game is just glitched or not.

Effects should be;
Absorb Health: 25
Absorb Magicka; 31
Absorb Stamina; 31

I get 20, 25, 25 respectively. I would have thought them being health, stamina and magicka enchants they would be affected.

I must applaud you for you time and research. You have found the Golden Key to Skyrim. But, I must ask: what is the point in playing the game knowing well you will have no challenges, no difficulties, no rival?

With all the crafting exploits and loops present in the game you can logically rule out even playing the game. It's like starting off a basketball game with a 100 point lead and 5 extra players on the court. So, I must ask again: what is the point?

Some people find it fun to tweak out every bit of power they can from their toon. If we didn't enjoy it, we wouldn't do it :)

The thread's not just about being insanely overpowered, otherwise we would have stopped at "Dual wield maces own faces trololol". We're learning how the mechanics work so we can build effecient characters to play the way we want to play.

Ah! But you DON'T start off with a 100 point lead, my friend... armed with the knowledge in this thread, you make it possible to eventually get a 100 point lead if you desire. This is what the crafting and perks template is for... it's a bare-bones minimum to achieve the maximum awesomeness that Skyrim has to offer. But none of us contribute to this thread with the goal of becoming overpowered to ruin our games. The fact is, some folks like playing a game as an overpowered character, and to them, being OP isn't ruining anything... it's what they want. Hell, if we wanted the fastest shortcut to power, we'd just type TGM into the console and be unkillable. No perks required.

HOWEVER

You might notice that we aren't doing this. We are working for our skillpoints, carefully planning where to put our hard-earned perks, and along the way as we discuss the pros and cons of various character builds, we have discovered that there is a great deal about the game that is not in the guides and wikis, or that said guides and wikis are flat out WRONG. A lot of perks are wastes (see: Weapon specialization perks, for example) or are unnecessary (overkilling the Shield Wall, Juggernaut, or Agile Defender Perks) depending upon what gear you choose to use... to me, knowing these things is a good idea ahead of time. We have unearthed a ton of game mechanics that were previously poorly understood or completely unknown.

Still don't see the point? :)

Ah, concerning the Corpus Enchanter perk? Was that a subtle hint to me to stop lurking here and actually do something? :)

BRB
-Loth

Edit: Corpus Enchanter does not affect Absorb Health, Stamina, or Magicka... jeez, that's like the worst level 70 perk there is! It only affects fortify [HSM stat] enchants...

I got absorb 20 health, 25 stamina, 25 magicka before and after Corpus Enchanter perk. 5/5 Enchanting perks, 100 skill.
