By the way, you can use an Xbox 360 controller (wired or wireless) with the PC version. Sometimes I play FO3 on my HTPC connected to my entertainment center sitting on the couch in my living room with a 360 wireless controller. It works perfectly.

Just upgraded to a GTX 470 which should be able to push 1920x1200 at max settings. Oh man, can't wait.

No worries. If your maxed out it's pretty well guaranteed to run. It sometimes doesn't register certain things as being what they are, but for the most part it's reliable.

Same as I did for FO3, first on 360, then the PC when I get my better graphics card/RAM.

I built a new PC for this game with an ATI 5870 and i7 920 hopefully it will run real smooth.

My old machine had a dual core amd and a 9800gt and I could run everything on high but when I was outdoors I got lag every 5 seconds and pop-ins from hell. I hope the engine is a little more optimized this time around.

Pc please. I just spend a boat load of money on a new PC.

No, that's your only choice. There is no "finding", it's "Windows" or "Nothing". If you experience issues under Wine, certainly, but that's just what happens when you try and emulate (yeah, whatever) another platform, it's not perfect. There is no finding, and unless you're technically inept you shouldn't have any trouble installing the vast majority of games, we're long past the days where you had to mod .inis to make things work.

Yeah you're probably right but I have so much more hassle with PCs all the time, less so with games consoles, luckily. So I feel more inclined to slag them off because most of them are just so troublesome all the bleedin time, everywhere, in work ,at home, while attempting to play games on them, while trying to surf, all the time, their the Devil's work. I was given a PC the other day so I'm gonna have to restart FO1 & I'll just stop right there, I can copy those saves over, nah I'll just restart, set my agility a bit higher this time round.

and to the guy a few posts up, Windows is crap! And I'll PC Bash if I so desire maybe if they built them properly and had a decent OS that worked, maybe I wouldn't have to yap about what a damn annoying medium they are. Maybe this is like road rage, only its pc rage lol, I'm completely entitled to whinge about stuff when its causes about 3 to 5 major annoying incidents per day. Y can't they just work properly all the time. My games consoles usually hold up for far longer than any PC I've ever owned or used. I've used many of them

PCs are much more complex than consoles, there's a lot more to go wrong. However, 7 years without any serious computer issues here - all it takes is a little bit of common sense.

I've had this computer for a couple of years, and any major issue I've had was quickly fixed. Computer issues can really only be a huge hassle if you don't know about computers.

Sorry you've had a bad experience. I've had exactly the opposite experience. I have 3 PCs (that have changed over the years) to play games on, and they've always worked flawlessly (especially since they've been running Windows 7). I haven't had a real computer problem to speak of in 6+ years, and the minor ones I've had have been my fault and were fixable. On the other hand, I've had to send my 360 in once and my Wii in twice for repair in the past 1 or 2 years for no other reason except something inside flat-out failed. So far my PCs have a better track record by far. YMMV, I guess.

My only point is that your experiences don't necessarily reflect those of others, and platform bashing is only going to get you into an argument.

I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority of PC issues are user error related. Just because someone is incapable of using a PC correctly doesn't mean PCs are bad. It just means that person is lacking the skills/Knowledge that others do have. What is more likely the PC creating issues itself just because it's a mean poopy head? Or the PC having issues because you didn't maintain it properly or you never bothered to learn how to use it correctly? I guess using a PC requires a level of common sense that some people don't have.

I myself personally have had 3 RRODs and 1 YLOD. So obviously the consoles have issues themselves.

I know fairly well what I'm doing, I used PCs most of my life plus I work in a computer refurbishment/recycling workshop, so I'd say I'd know just a little bit about PCs, not everything but enough to know that when I save while gaming on a PC, its mostly in case it crashes lol

Is the PC in question just barely able to run the game your playing? Way back in the day when Evil Genius came out I had the same problem. But it was because my Pc wasn't meant to be running the game in the first place. I can't think of any other PC games that I've played and crashed while saving. When it does crash are there any error messages? If it's a Windows 7 system are you running the game as Administrator? Windows 7 protects changes to program files and it can cause issues if your not running the program as administrator. Like for example The Witcher on Windows 7 confuses a lot of people. After installing, when you try to launch the game you get an error that says "Insufficient privileges: you must be administrator when you run this application for the first time." Well running it as administrator don't change anything. So the best way to fix it is change the default installation directory from c:\programfiles\thewitcher to just c:\thewitcher. Taking the program directory out of the mix removes the need for Windows to ask for permission to change files in the program directory and it works every time. I'm sure if you have windows 7 you have seen the pop up messages asking if you want to allow the following program permission to make changes to this computer? Maybe that is whats happening when you go to save. Have you tried to google the problem?

I agree PCs take more effort then just putting in a disk and turning on your console of choice, But the benefits make the extra effort far worth it. The biggest regret I have in gaming (and I've played video games since the TRS 80) is playing Oblivion on 360. For Morrowind I was still only a PC gamer, And I loved playing with the mods. But when Oblivion came out I bought a 360 and brand new out of the box it RROD on me in 2 weeks. I was lucky it happened so soon because I was able to just bring it back to the store and leave with a new one the same day. I ended up RRODing the second 360 before my 250 hours of vanilla Oblivion was over. Well when I finished building my current gaming PC I went to play modded Oblivion and I just can't get into it. Knowing the entire game as well as I already do just keeps me from playing it for a 3rd time. If I would have played it on PC to begin with I would probably still be playing it right now just because of all of the mods. I cheated myself big time. If it's a game that you know will have a a lot of mods why would you want to play it on anything other than a PC? Think of all the free content the PC players will get that you can't get on console. That alone is well worth the extra effort involved in using a PC. In my opinion.
