Consoles are holding back gaming

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 8:13 pm

Imagine how much more immense Skyrim could be if it wasn't for those 6 year old pieces of [censored].

Time was put into coding for them when it could have been put into 2 extra guilds
Limits had to be set so the console version are similar
I won't list everything but you cannot say consoles are good for gaming.

PC and Wii should be the only 2 gaming platforms and Wii should stick to what its good at

Consoles have made the series what it actually is today. Having the game PC only would mean it would be a very limited market. The only reason Skyrim has become so popular is because of Morrowind being on the Xbox and Oblivion being on the Xbox 360/PS3.

Without the huge success all their games have been, they wouldn't have had the budget, the time or the staff to make the game what it is today. Therefore Skyrim wouldn't be anywhere near as big and feature packed as it is now, the audience just wouldn't have been there.

The whole "consoles have limited this game" argument is getting old now. And it's just plain wrong.

be careful with posting these threads. Your asking for trouble, straight up.
If that is what your looking for, I do hope this thread is closed.

Yes, consoles are old. Everyone knows that. Numerous threads have pointed it out. There is no need to rekindle a forest fire.
Complaining about these things doesn't do A Thing. I'd suggest take it up with Microsoft and Sony if you have a problem with their own product.

if anything its the small size of the pc gaming community compared to the massive console community. If the popularities were the other way around things would be different

It's true, but not everyone has the money to put into new gaming PCs anyway. So look at it that way. More people playing games = more incentive to make games. Skyrim still gives a crapton of quality content.

Agreed, I think they should have made the massive PC game, than scaled it back for consoles.

Skyrim may have been designed for console, but it will be the PC version that gets the most love in the end.

Consoles are holding back indepth, PC intelligent gaming. But they`re not holding back basic, dumb-down gaming.

really just look back at what PC games did before they started trying to appeal to the console gamer.

If Skyrim had been made solely for the PC I would guarantee we`d have something 50% if not 100% better and more amazing than what we have now. A kind more complex Morrowind with great graphics, character options and tons more skills.

Sorry to the consolers who won`t like it and don`t want to believe it, but it`s true .

Deal with it.
Another PC gamer that comes across as an ass. I never knew there was such vitriol towards consoles and its users until I started hitting the forums. Its so childish it makes me embarrassed that these a holes are fellow gamers.

There isn't any evidence this is true. You just have an imagined idea of what games would be like if only all gamers were using PCs.

The budgets might be smaller and the market narrow, requiring less innovation and polish to succeed. Or it might be as you say.

There is reality, and there's the imaginary reality. Posts like these serve no purpose.

agreed although the money from console sales helped fund skyrim. they should have made it PC first and then scaled back. after playing BF3 its quite a shock going back to skyrims graphics which while much better than oblivions arent anywhere as near as good as BF3 or far cry 2 graphics.

also PC game sales are about the same as xbox 360 sales and in fact they are larger than PS3 sales so i wish people would stop posting nonsense about console sales "dwarfing" PC sales.

If all games were PC only everybody would have a pc. Or if consoles were updated every year.
You cannot say consoles aren't preventing gaming moving forward. The games are built for 5 year old hardware .
Even Morrowind was held back.

All gamers need to move to pc so all games are made for pc and progress can be made.

This, without all revenue from the Console sales of Morrowind and Oblivion I doubt that Bethesda could have even afforded to put on all the new staff to make Skyrim the fantastic game that is it on ALL consoles. The OP is niave and a fool, I am a PC gamer going back to the 80's on an IBM 8088 with 256k of Ram, even I am not one eyed enough that I could pull out rubbish statements like this aimed at flaming! Not every one can afford a gaming rig either. Stop making PC gamers look arrogant and foolish, you are beneath us OP.

Next Gen Consoles will probably be out later this year or next year anyhow, then the game will be reduced, Full-HD console gaming sounds great for console gamers :)

Sigh... The evidence is all in the past.

Companies with FAR LESS resources made far more greater and complex games with more innovation and imagination in a far narrower market 10 years ago!

Bethesda games have never been about cutting edge graphics. Sure, they aim to be good. But not the best.

And PC sales figures haven't been released for Steam. Not at all are the PC sales more than the Xbox, that's a stupid thing to say.

The more people that say this the better, if people see this and realise it's right they may buy a pc over the next gen console

Of course they are. With that said, if I could, Id buy every gamer a max PC. Then devs would have no excuse...at least until they became obsolete.
