Could the game advlt up a bit?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 2:00 pm

Game is rated 15, game is made in a way so that slow people, the young and the stupid can understand.

I am not talking about the lack of six, violence and naughty words here (although more of that would have suited the game) But instead..

How every single puzzle was designed for a four year old and added absolutely nothing good to the game. I found the poorly designed inventory to be more of a problem. The game would have been better without the puzzles, or with complex puzzles that were only necessary for entering bonus areas.

How the lore added to the game was poor and just excused the creation of generic fantasy dragons who didn't even use the shouts to make their fire. I don't even know why there are dwemer cities in skyrim and i think it's because bethesda could not be bothered to think of something new to fight. I am not even sure if they should be called "dwemer" perhaps "dwarves" would fit them better with their stone architecture and all People aren't getting what i am trying to say. I want dwemer to be dwemer, bethesda want dwemer to be generic dwarves. Lore wise they should have a smaller presence on skyrim than what they do and the falmer should have either stayed extinct or found a way to make themselves less goblin during the many millennia they have spent in the deep.

The designs of armour and weapons and creatures. Note how all the weapons (especially swords) are oversized for no decent reason whilst there are no unique looking animals or monsters whatsoever that anyone older than ten would accept in a fantasy realm. The powers of smithing was probably thought up by five year olds who wanted to make "epic swords"

Every second an npc will spurt their occupation at you. As if it was hard to remember that the black woman at whiterun's gate banging into an anvil was a smith.. Plus why is she telling me that graymane is better than her and she is terrible CONSTANTLY? That can't be good for business can it? Imagine of Burger king continuously announced their inferiority to McDonald's .

There are some npcs that are rather powerful emotionally (ulfric, jarl balgruff - the stormcloak storyline is superior to the imperial one in ever aspect) and then there are some well played characters (Most of the less sane,Khajit, esbern, tulius, hardvar, tolfdir some of the daedric princes, parthanax. i was told the greybeards rip you apart if you side with the blades) and the completely awful (every single person that i have not mentioned, I probably met every single npc in my 178 hours)

But i probably wouldn't have brought this issue up if Npc's kept their stupid comments to themselves!
Then there are some npcs that i just want to kill for being so.. bad and unique.. Delvin, carliah, maven, lucien, delphine, mercer, the unimportant companions, sheogorath, half of the dark brotherhood.. ugh.. so STUPID! Nothing says "i am a bad person" more in a Bethesda game than the voice they use and it really simplifies characters to the point of them being so unrelatable that you just want to shoot them. A five year old might need the "evil voice help" to tell if a character is "evil" or not but the game happens to be rated 15 and anyone who is over 15 realy does not (unless they suffer from a mental illness, in that case they should not be playing such games)

I was not suggesting that bethesda needed to spend more money on voice acting, you have to be an idiot to think that. I think that they should have distributed dialogue better so that it never feels stupidly out of place. I am also against how characters always have voices to go with what they are. Arcano (mages guild) and mercer (theives guild) are [censored]s, so you know that they are "evil" and this completely removes any plot twist from occurring. Plus most characters seem to be stereotypes (maven is rude because she is powerful , delvin has a london accent because he's a theif, astrid talks like lucien because it makes her seem more "assassiny" , although i have no idea why delphine is such a dumb [censored] dragon slayer when she was at one point a very cautious spy who evaded the thalmor.

I want a deep rpg that does not assume that i am five.

I'm sure some deep, dark DLC will come out. Let's hope...

Seems like you just want to complain, probably more than you want your perfect game. Let me tell you... no major developer is going to give you it. They make their money selling games to the masses, and a huge chunk of that is the teenage market. While they plop a 15 on the cover, most parents (in the US anyway) think their lil' darlin' is mature enough to handle it by 12. You can't write off that market with an over the top "advltness" that you're looking for. Look in the Indi market.

Well, at least that aspect is consistent with lore...

Mer = Elves

AltMER
DunMER
OrsiMER
DweMER
FalMER

Well, if we compare Skyrim to Oblivion this game looks much more advlt. Although not enough, I agree. Lack of six is indeed disturbing, when your game is m-rated and you have that much violence.

Funny how people complain about what age group the game is directed towards over puzzles.

OFP reads like a 5 year old complaining

You may as well have posted, "its s**t" and left.

OR .... you just need to play something more advlt?

Also im wondering how the game is suddenly going to grow up to your advlt standard by posting this thread?

Rated 15 you say? Here you got to be 18.
Anyways, you got some points. But it is also some restrictions on how much variation there can be. If all NPCs should have 50+ lines Betesda would ruin themselves on acting alone.
The puzzles are simple indeed, but maybe nececcary so. Few casual gamers today would enjoy using 2 hours to continue their game. And Bethseda has with this game tried to reach an even bigger market than before.

Friends of me who normally only play FIFA, CoD, Counter Strike and such games have bought it and enjoyed it.

The 'puzzles' I agree with, they're beyond simple. The rest is just meh complaints to me.

My first an only mod is one that prevents NPCs from spouting their life story at my character every they come within earshot of him. That is an essential mod for me. Why Bethesda seems to have thought it was a good idea for NPCs to constantly say the same thing to your character escapes me.

I don't see how you can possibly justify that.

You cry like a five years old little child. I never understand how people can play for 180hours a game they are not enjoying. Try Dragon Age II, it's deeper in these features.

Agreed.

I remember seeing my first puzzle in the game, and being like 'sweet, finally some puzzles!' then looking up and seeing that the answers were laid out infront of me in the correct order.... I had never been so dissapointed in my life, and i knew there was more to come...

Yes it's horrible that a puzzle game like Skyrim doesn't have complicated puzzles, oh wait that's right, it's not a puzzle game.

This. In my opinion the puzzles get "hard enough" near the end. I would enjoy the game less if there were harder puzzles - I go into dungeons to have adventures, fight monsters and loot chests. This is not Myst.

You know, Dark Souls is supposed to be a lot more difficult. Maybe you should be playing that instead.

Funny, the OP doesn't seem to know much TES lore at all. This makes your annoying rant absurd and worthless. Thank you for wasting my time

I would rather have no puzzles instead of these children books type puzzles. They are horrendous.

reason why the game is rated M is because of blood/gore mainly, that doesn't mean the game was designed for mature people

I was hoping the game would be rated 18, i was sad when I saw it wasn`t.

Fallout 3 benefitted greatly from a higher rating.

Now that I totally agree with! It breaks the immersion and is so repetitive that I want to just stab those NPC through the heart! LOL Same with the guards, OMG I want to kill them all with an arrow through the head!

My biggest gripe though is that NPC's don't acknowledge my "achievements". I mean, the Jarl of Winterhold is complaining about the College... to the ARCH MAGE (me). LOL You know, little things like that...

Other than that, I'm ok with the puzzles and I'm totally addicted to the game! :)

Holy crap, can the mods not just start and pin a permanent grab-bag Official [censored]ing, Pissing and Moaning Thread and just not lock it, ever? Plus move all these pointless [censored]fests into that thread? This nonsense is so ridiculous that I have little to no desire to even discuss the few minor quibbles that I actually do have about the game.
