Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #28

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:54 pm

I remember reading a while back that a number of people believe that there is no substantial information that we have received to hint towards the DLC. The following link http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Dawnguard would prove that incorrect. The people talking about the snow prince and crossbows have evidence to back it up while at the very least an appearance of vampires also exists based on the 1.5 patch on steam.
The only evidence we see here that this information is in the patch. Even the UESP page is telling us that the patch suggests it could be in the DLC.. It doesn't mean it will be.
These elements could very well be placeholders for either dlc or patchpacks in which stuff like the added killcams will be added.
But even those are assumptions.. E3 will be the place to be..
Edit:

mmmhh :ninja: 'd

Those promises are flighty since it ranged from

We like the FO3 Release Model

We don't like the FO3 Release model and will do bigger DLCS

We want to make large DLC's

Now its something like Point lookout :stare:

Just gonna wait and see..

I'm confident that the least amount of info we'll get out of the E3 announcement is a storyline and a release date.

I would happily do without either, if they released a bunch of concept art. That to me was the best bit of the seemingly interminable wait for Skyrim.

I really object to having things released on one media before others. It should be released on ALL media at the same time or not at all.

It's no wonder we have Console v PC flame wars all over the internet and Xbox v PS3 flame wars, the games companies encourage it by doing this sort of crap. Treat everyone as a GAMER and not by the machines we use to play on, otherwise it only creates bad feeling between players.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of timed exclusives. For us PC and PS3 players, we may not even get the DLC until August or September.
The 360 users will have to go through the bugs, as it has been said before, think of them as the beta testers.

I'm not sure I like the comparrisons with Point Lookout, would like Dawnguard to be more substantial to be honest.

I like the comparison to the Shivering Isles much more... I would hope it'd be this size.

It added a small area of swampland and a couple of new quests. It wasn't that bad, but many people here would want something much larger, more like the size of the Shivering Isles, for Skyrim.

In fact, shortly after Skyrim released, when Bethesda would talk about Skyrim they would say that they want to do expansions more than they want to do small DLC's. Something closer to SI in size rather than the smaller DLC.

This is what I look forward to in Dawnguard.

Yeah:) same here.. Hope they keep what they promised. They just mentioned "Point lookout" one time. I hope we get more big expansions with alot of "meat" on them,What they said.

It was the Shivering Isle comparison that got me interested in the DLC (Dawnguard). TBH I didn't really like any of Fallout 3 DLC, or Oblivions Knight of The Nine, Shivering Isle though was brilliant, good story, quests, characters and a decent sized and interesting land mass to explore.

A small DLC for Fallout 3.
I wouldn't call it small..
Is it smaller than SI, yes
Is it larger than KOTN yes
Is it the largest area added to FO3... yes in terms of content, landmass etc.. it does add quite a bit..

It is roughly 20% the size of the capital wasteland added 1 mq (aprox 4 hrs) and a couple of larger sidequests. Plus a little more than 40 locations..
I agree with the SI wishes for this DLC.. and sincerely hope the level of choices and writing is on par with that DLC.
There are however comparisons.
Both PL and SI added an area's which had a different vibe than the main area in game.. I hope they will do the same. An area fastly different than the Skyrim we have seen so far.
Both were open and connected area's: Meaning one could return to the main world any time.. (PL at a price and costing caps)
etc.. So I can actually understand the comparison..

The only cost i didn't like about PL was the sacrifice of a nugget of your brain... I never could get past that. I enjoyed PL thoroughly, don't get me wrong. But did I really have to have a minor lobotomy? lol

It may only be 'timed exclusive' for the XBox, but that is a horrendous idea and business practice and should not be done.

But I still look forward to the Snow Elves and Crossbows.

Dwarves please, theres gotta be some some where

At E3 Dawnguard will be showcased behind closed doors to a selected audience (journalists) only.

That's dissapointing. I hope we get something though, at last years E3 Skyrim had a 'behind closed doors' thing but we also got the gameplay vid.

Even if it is completely behind closed doors, they'll still most likely post something here.

Sauce?

Because last I heard (on these Forums) we're going to hear a release date and much more info on Dawnguard at E3. I personally think that they're going to give us at least the story line to the expansion if not more at E3.
As I said in another post, the news feed on the front page of the nexus mentions that e3 will be a behind closed doors presentation

Indeed, most likely some promo material like a few screenshots, maybe a video if we're lucky.
