Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #28

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 2:29 pm

Well,if i dare to say that i'm already satisfied at how runes are already implemented in the vanilla game you will hate me forever ?

Nope, thanks to my immense leniency, I'd forgive you :D

And moreover, the real-life Cicero is one of the most inspiring people in the history of mankinf, in my opinion, so I couldn't hate a guy who wields his name...

(And all hatreds are a stupid waste of energy)

I had a look on the weapon lists of http://uesp.net/wiki/Dawnstar:Weapons and http://uesp.net/wiki/Shadowkey:Weapons.

In Dawnstar, it seems that there was Troll weapons. There was also a http://uesp.net/wiki/Dawnstar:Bestiary. Some Trolls were called "Trollkin". Wouldn't it be nice if some Troll tribe(s) were added, whose members would be intellignet enough to craft weapons and/or armors? This would allow for new sets of items... Maybe they'd worship the http://uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Uderfrykte_Matron and would want to elect a new one? I surely would love to do some quest for a Troll Shaman!

In Shadowkey, there were Shade weapons, Shadow weapons, Dusk weapons, and Penumbric weapons. Some Penumbric weapons were costier than their Daedric counterpart. I suppose they are crafted with shadows, by use of http://uesp.net/wiki/Shadowkey:Scroll_of_Shadow? Maybe http://uesp.net/wiki/Shivering:Shadowrend is in fact an example of enchanted Penumbric weapon? There was an armor called Shadoweave. Wouldn't it be nice if we had a new set of "Shadow" or Penumbric items?

Seriously, they should introduce shadow magic into the game. Like shoot a black-glowing ball of electricity at someone would look pretty neat. I mean destruction is cool to play with but I dont like to feel like an elementalist. My mage is evil to the core so he should be casting dangerous and forbidden magics like shadow magic.

Also it would be neat if they worked on making better robes for the darker side of a mage like Arch-necromancer robes or something like that.

There was a spell called "Sphere of Negation" in Daggerfall, which might please you then. Maybe they'll reintroduce it?

Also, I just thought to something... What if the Dawn was actually "what repels the Shadows"? Maybe we'll have to fight against a Shadowmage in Dawnguard? After all, the last Umbra' Keth lived in the Crypt of Hearts, of which an entrance was located in Skyrim, so it wouldn't be that much astonishing...

Yet another speculative theory about dawnguard...

I need new information! :ahhh: I am really looking forward for the E3...

A balanced economy is probably one of the priorities that developers have to consider in the next installments..however,the gold its there, but no one force you to spend/collect it...the quest are supposed to be fun apart from the reward - in a game of this genre.

Its even more fun when you build up a large amount of gold just to pay for something that you really want like an artifact sword of some kind that "instantly kills all spiders with a critical strike" or something like that. Whats the point of building up large amounts of gold if you have nothing to spend it on?

you know its funny before the dawnguard name offical release we all posted our ideas like crazy no mater how strange, just because the name release is offical doesn't mean we have to stop the posting. Personally I would like to see a dlc that involves the Dark Brotherhood.

I really like playing Skyrim, but now Im up to the point in the game to where I dont care about loot anymore. I have so much gold on my characters I dont even know what to do with since I already bought every expensive item in the game.

So as I was playing this gave me an idea. Verbose mentioned earlier in this forum "what artifacts we wanted back in the game?". And so I was thinking, what if we added a mysterious artifact vendor whose every item costs like 200k gold (or less if need be). Since now Im up to the point of being capable of getting so much gold in such a short amount of time this could give players reason to drain their gold reserves and to go out and do dungeons more frequently. I thought this was a really great idea to put ingame so there it is. :)
That is your choice though, the majority of my characters don't ever get over 20000 gold. You don't need to take every scrap of loot from dungeons, or continually craft high value items for selling, you could try only making what you need.

Skyrim is my first TES game and i can't wait for Dawnguard and future expansions but i have some questions.

How large are these expansion packs? I read that Bethesda said it will have alot of meat on them but fewer, does that mean Skyrim will have the biggest expansions yet out of all the expansions they've done?

What exactly do these expansions include? How big are the maps? Does the map extend together with the primary Skyrim map?

Do these expansions bring more cities like Whiterun, Solitude and small villages? I am holding off on marrying because they might bring in new women. Also do they have more new music for these expansions?

Well I do only make what I need mostly. Only now I would like more reason than just paying for a 20k house.

 Actually, I sometimes need to justify the choice of my forum name

In fact, it is merely one idea : making the use of runes more intricate. Everything I wrote is expansion of this idea...

I would love a paralyze rune, that would be cool.

Maybe you mentioned it but I didn't read any of that massive post

I just started up my Khajiit from Skyrim on Oblivion and realized that i never fully appreciated the Persuasion and Haggling minigames... Can we have those back Beth? I walked into the Imperial City and just made friends with everybody including Guards. Darq'Raze would do that in Skyrim for sure if it was available. I bet there is already a mod for that but i play on xbox.

I agree. I never really used speech, but I would defiantly use it if we had haggling back.

We aren't getting anything until E3.
We may get tidbits of info. And they might tell us if there showing info about Dawnguard outside of the closed door reveal.

1. I want to have a full weapon/armor customizing in the forge that allows you to use different shapes/details and materials in order to create your very own armor/weapons. Being able to use different shapes and details would be unlocked as you level up (not by perks) and you would still need to unlock different perks in order to use different materials. All the original armors would still be available as quick options, but by pressing e.g. RB (on xbox) in the forge menu would make you enter "custom mode" where you can make your completely own weapons/armors.

2. I want something that makes it possible to craft regular clothing (clothes, robes, hats, capes...). By using this method of crafting I want to be able to craft clothing by using pelts, and different pelts would make the clothing look different (although pelts would not be the only possible material)

3. I want the skin of the animals to be removed from their bodies when you take their pelt from the inventory (like the briarheart disappears from the dead Briarheart-forsworn) so it feels like you actually skinned the animal.

4. I want to be able to forge Stormcloak armor

You need the gold only at low levels sadly; and even the weapons that you made could be better than the "special ones" that costs a lot of septims from the merchants..
As i've said before, the economy is heavily unbalanced in this game..if you consider even that for a murder you pay an almost insignificant amount of gold..if you're on pc of course there is the possibility of mods that could re-balance all.

Alright here is the golden question: How long do we have to wait after E3 to get the expansion?

Probably at least 1 month for the DLC to get released on Xbox after E3 + 2 months of Xbox exclusivity if you're on PC or PS3. So we're looking for at least 3-4 months from now.
