Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #34

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 4:17 am

Anyone else discovered http://i.imgur.com/5YUou.jpg?1in the new patch 1.6? :P

Not a very subtle hint there, Bethesda :D Seems like 1.6 will be the last version of the game before Dawnguard, so it has the support for it built into the game already. Dawnguard will probably be 1.7...
Odd how they don't have a counter for vampire quests. Perhaps that means Dawnguard is thr place where the DLC is set?

Judging from the trailer, you start out in the "vampire" (I still don't think it's actually about vampires) group and then switch over to the Dawnguard. Thus, the entire questline is called 'Dawnguard'.

DLC #2 will feature the land of make believe where you have a quest to steal a leprechaun's lucky charms in exchange for a Daedric artifact.

FFS, in Oblivion they actually poked fun at their vampires not being stereotypical by making Vicente Valtiere allergic to garlic. =/
Classical vampires can be warded off with garlic... I think you got that backwards.

Obviously you never played through the DB questline of Oblivion. Valtiere is allergic to garlic, but he's also the only vampire that we know of that has this allergy, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Vicente%27s_Note_to_Ocheeva. So no, I did not get it backwards. You misunderstood.

This must be a huge coincidence but I was just going to post something I discovered today. In the last page of that article it mentions the Ratway and I discovered a few things in the Ratway.

Spoiler

When playing today I remembered Rune. He said he was found in a ship-wreck east of Solitude with only a mysterious rune-marked stone to identify him. From the video and that article it is safe to assume that the supposed castle Volikhar is located somewhere to the north and east of Solitude. I am assuming he may be the person mentioned in the article as he has a connection the Ratway and the supposed location of the Volikhar.

There was also something curious in the ratway. I noticed that there was a note under a table and the only way to reach the note was to use the console to turn off clipping. I haven't seen the note anywhere else and mentions rivals to the Thieves Guild in Windhelm. Here's a link to the note. http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Possible_Rivals This is never mentioned in the thieves guild quest line(Unless it's a quest I somehow missed) so maybe it is linked to future DLC.
The rivals are the Summerset Shadows. Nothing new.

I don't know how I missed that quest. I must have a look later. Rune is still a total mystery though.

I'm pretty sure the GI article said that you could have a house in the Dawnguard castle and the vamp one at the same time. Maybe picking sides isn't as clear cut. Who knows?

You have to do so many stealing jobs in one of the cities for Vex and Delvin to get it. (I think it's 5 or 10 jobs in Riften)

I personally liked the look of the new creatures that would be in Dawnguard. New creatures like the frost giant and the gargoyles will bring even more diversity to the creatures of skyrim. This is also something that could be developed in future DLC.

Do you think it will be possible to join the Dawnguard if you are a vampire?

I want to be a good vampire

I would hazard a guess that when you join the Dawnguard, they will have a ceremony to initiate you, that will also banish the vampirism from your body.

What is interesting is the concept art of Falmer holding a baby, and someone mentioned in lore the Falmer used cries of a baby (Remember the "child crying" files in the beta patch?) would lure Charus or w/e they were called.

I worded that weird, huh?

What is your definition of "good" vampire?

Its like saying a wolf or a lion is "good" if they don't eat people. It makes no sense.

Shame, I have one character who's story is he contracted the vampire disease at a young age but rather than curing the disease has decided to keep the form as the powers give him an advantage to hunt down the vampires that killed his family and when he was a younger and left him for dead...... Oh well if true I will just have to be weaker good boy if I choose the Dawnguard

My definition of good is for the greater need. One of my characters who has vampirism feeds on people out of necessiy rather than becuase he wants to. He feels that for the greater good of hunting down those 'more' evil it is ok to feed on a few to protect the many.

As for the wolf or lion, they are hunting to survive they are doing it out of instinct and have no sense of the human terms of right and wrong therefore are neither good nor evil. A lion that eats a person is not evil, it is doing it to survive.... the same as people that eat a cow

If that makes sense?

I think so, but I would guess that if you became a vampire lord, you would cease being a werewolf or even a regular vampire
