Dawnguard DLC Discussion - Thread #36

but no magic for mounted combat. at least officially. a mod allows this, but Bethesda did not.

I am unsure, however, are also "standard" vampires revamped for this release? in appearance and powers?

Did not yet... I really, really hope they'll add mounted spellcasting in some patch or update. This would be so epic. One can't use a magical mount and be limited to physical weapons !

Also, spells affecting the mount would be nice (making it faster, or endowing it with some magical aura, or healing it while mounted...)

Honnestly, I have no idea of the answer to your question.

Besides, I hope we'll be able to cast a "bound horse armor" spell for our horse... :P

I thought I read it somewhere in these threads yesterday evening, but I can't find it anymore..

so does anyone actually think they've added cloaks or is that just a part of Serena's outfit in the video?

level 4 hunger no longer causes the townspeople to grab their pitchforks, and I'm thinking they'll no longer talk to you at that level. they said they would get an overhaul, but don't expect anything major

Please?

I don't know whether it has been posted, but according to what I read http://www.jeuxvideo.com/articles/0001/00017154-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-dawnguard-e3-2012-preview.htm (in French), the "Tyranny of the Sun" refers to a prophetized obliteration of the Vampires that the Vampires... well, fear, and want to avoid

Actually I am quite worried, for neither a total annihilation of Vampires nor a perpetual occultation of the Sun seem to be sustainable options for the next Elder Scrolls games and DLCs to come, for I suppose many players wouldn't like to be deprived either of vampirism or of daylight for entire games. How do you think they'll handle this issue, scenaristically, in the next games ? Dragon break ? Providential intervention of Molag Bal and Lamae Beolfag or of the Psijic Order
Spoiler
(now owning the Eye of Magnus)
or Thalmor (with its new "Dawn Magic") , either to restore the Vampire or the Sun? It would look quite much like a deus ex machina, don't you think?

Edit: Just to make it clear : these slight worries don't prevent me at all to be thrilled and impatient to discover it all. I do think that Bethesda did a wondrous job on this DLC, which really looks amazing.

Does anyone else think that when they get Vampire Lord form they will just run around and kill everything? I think that is what I am going to do. As a Role Playing thing though, I will only transform at night. Does anyone know if using powers while in normal form will add to perks?
You can't use Vampire Lord powers while your in human form.

The Vampire Lords have their own spells, perks, so i don't think so. But i'm not 100% sure.

His exact words are "And in this there are two fortresses that you can make your own and kinda trick-out"

I cant wait for this DLC i really hope all goes well in beta testing because this will be amazing content for Skyrim. I've done everything in the game almost as I'm sure most have so something new would be awesome but the question is with these new perk trees does the max lvl of 81 1/2 actually raise or is it now more pick and choose

Good! This shows that the vampires want to blot out the sun for a good reason and not just do it to jump into a feeding frenzy for the rest of their lives!

Take that, you pro-Dawnguard!

My prediction

Spoiler
Dovahkiin uses the Elder Scroll to prevent the prophecy from being fulfilled, but doesn't block the sun. The head vampire says "the Elder Scrolls will be mine..." Plural. Odds are he needs at least two of them for his plan to work, so there might be the option to go down a path that doesn't destroy one side or the other completely.

That, or only the Vampire Lords are wiped out (so they don't have to appear in the next game). This would be the lazy way of dealing with things.
