Dawnguard Gameinformer details #4

Do they really need to adapt to anything? They are already dead, so I doubt the cold would bother them much.
They would need to adapt to the change in cultures and customs and changes within the land.

They would not need to really adapt to the cold tho.:)

Splash damage and tripping your own traps/runes would be a big problem with doing it on horseback, since the horse is its own creature and will get hit by friendly fire. Some problem when using magic with followers, they end up getting hit all the time by your explosive spells.
True but it would make playing a destruction mage less imbalanced at higher levels. With a bit of planning, mages could greatly benefit from 'hit and run' tactics. I hope it can be modded or Bethesda decides to implement it a future patch

I agree hit and run tactics work great for mages and if the horse kills itself so what.
I mean you could go buy another one and it would be there as an option for magic users.
I also hope they implemented it in the final patch before it goes live they might do it thay have not updated the patch notes yet so they might.

I'm actually quite interested in some possible new graphical additions such as flowing capes, a new water shader, darker interiors, foot prints visible the in snow, and flails! I especially hope for darker interiors myself! A lot of the mods available on the nexus that change interior lighting alter too much of the base game for my liking "RCRN, RLWC, URWL ect..." plus the new darkness would also give players some incentive to utilize some of the abilities associated with vampires "night eye anyone?". I also think that it would add an extra spookiness factor for players who decide to side with the Dawnguard. Imagine walking through the darkness of an abandoned crypt with only a torch on hand, when suddenly an ugly ass gargoyle bursts out of a wall. I know that would scare the piss out of me!

NO! NO! NO! This would be lore murdering,

Hircine doesn't give a hunt's ass about animals. He wants mortal sacrifice, so he only accepts it when people die at the jaws and claws of his hounds. Why do you think werewolves needed to kill people to wake up in the morning healthy in Bloodmoon and Daggerfall? Or to continue going they devour killed people in Skyrim.

Making werewolves kill animals and feed on them to sustain themselves is not the good way to go. People want to be a werewolf, they must embrace the "penalties" that come along with it. I hope this isn't the case.

Hircine has dike all to do with Vampires. They're molag bal's bag.

And for the record, hunting beasts is Hircine's bag, too.

I doubt it. He was a Cyrodiilic Vampire. But it is possible, since his victim, Movarth, appeared in the game.
It's things like this that show Beth do care about the lore they wrote in past games

Okay, no idea what mumbochumvo is, but it definitely sounds as if there will be cape/cloak physics. Now if only we knew whether or not they'll actually be equipable items or just be attached to armor. Considering the popular demand, they would be smart to implement them as equipable items.
It's very possible as mods use an unused item slot present in the game to add them as seperate items, no reason why Beth will not do it the same way

Does anyone know if horse combat pertains to only melee, or if archery and magic can be used while riding a horse? I just keep imaging my character riding through the hills of white run, slowing down time and popping arrows off at dragons.
Melee and archery. You can zoom in with bows just like unmounted... also 2handed weapons have the same animation of 1 handed.

Oh sweet! I can live in Castle Dawnguard? From what I've seen in the trailer Castle Dawnguard looks really nice.

So as a werewolf, I really shouldn't side with these vampiric scum.

If we side with Dawnguard will the sun set as usual?

Blotting out the Sun sounds like fun, but I can't side with the vampires if all their rewards are only for vampires.

Sounds like I can't do what I really want to do, AGAIN.

That's what the magazine says, yeah. Of course, if it really is situated in the rift, chances are it'll be covered in grimy fog most of the time.

It IS rather odd that....
They care enough to remember the book and look up the name of the victim, then include him in Skyrim as a sort of easter egg...
But they don't care enough to realize that his presence in Skyrim makes [censored] all sense in more ways than one.

Hi, I am new to the forums

So if we are visiting the Soul Cairn, maybe the Deadric Crescent blade will make an appearance. Just saying :whistling:

I hope they do something to counter the player fighting on horseback, because it looks very unbalancing. It would also be nice to have npcs fight on horseback.

From my experience, only the area around Riften is like that - as soon as I get away from the city, it turns to beutiful clear skies.

Ah, then it's probably due to Maven Black-Briar's chain smoking habits.

I thought that artifact belonged to Dagon, not the denziens of the Soul Cairn.

You unlock "Perks" by feeding as a vampire/ using vampiric drain, and werewolves unlock it I think by feeding and clawing people.

really...wait what if you reached level 81 and you cant pick anymore perks will you still be able to level up your vampire/werewolf perk tree?

Apparently, you'll acquire perks for the new trees in different ways - such as feeding.

That is true, yes - But Mehrunes Dagon's forces used The Soul Cairn as a waystation between the realms
Maybe 1 or 2 Crescent Blades got lost in The Soul Cairn. Just maybe

I feel pretty confident, unfortunately, that the 1.6 update will come out at the same time as the Dawnguard DLC. Reason is because the Game Informer has a section about "mounted combat" accompanied by a picture. This implies that mounted combat will be part of the Dawnguard DLC. I'd be surprised if the update come out before the DLC.
