Dawnguard Gameinformer details #3

Oh, of course, same guys who became dragon priests and draugr, but there were some words the dragons couldn't (in the case of dragonrend where men 'invented' it) or wouldn't teach men.
Ah, I get what you're saying now. And you could be right. Howevah, the problem the dova had with Dragonrend is that it made the immortal mortal, which is a blasphemy to the dragons, who think themselves divine beings. The shout in question is used on the dead; something dragons do not become. Really,it's just necromancy with words, which is exactly what Alduin does in Skyrim.

I'm willing to bet my copy of Skyrim that Hearthfire will have spears.

Quite right. The way I see it, if a shout that drives the soul out of a body works on dragons (forcing them to be 're-born), then I would assume it's a phrase of mortal contrivance, if it doesn't work on dragons, no reason it shouldn't be on a wall, taught to men by the Dovah.

Well seems that on that article they say that The DLC for PS3 and PC may come several months after the initial release for Xbox ...

Also it mentions that werewolves can use a howl to call an ally to fight with them
a new shout to rise minions to fight for you
the dragonbone weapons
playable from level 10 up
no spell combato on horse

Honestly I expected much more like

seasonal foliage
spears
werebears
verlet surfaces
SSAO
Snow footprints
goblins
snowelves improvements

I see these coming as content updates, not as part of the DLC. They are hardly related to Dawnguard in any way.

I am assuming the new perk trees can be adding to characters you have already maxed, can't see a problem if they only apply while in the relevant form, and with the new method of gaining them. Not that it matters to me, all this vampire stuff just means more enemies for my character.
Vampire and Werewolf perks are earned by using vampire and werewolf abilites they don't use regular perk points.

Precisely my point. People have asked for new skills, and extra perk trees such as acrobatics, but if they are tied to the gain a perk on level up system, your existing characters cannot take advantage. With a separate 'improve by doing' system not tied to character level, your favourite character can gain these new abilities even if maxed out. No-one wants dlc that requires you to start a new character.

I really, really hope that the vampire lord form isn't forced to third person like the werewolf one. I already consider the latter closed off to me as a result, and the vampire lord one does seem really interesting.

Found this interesting link for Dawnguard http://theparanoidgamer.com/new-skyrim-dawnguard-information it looks like you will be able to exit vampire lord form at will, this is looking like one excellant DLC,also it hints in the link that legendary dragons are new high level beasts  I hope the stuff on the link proves to be true though, only time will tell.

As has been mentioned, I'm hoping for some new spells, though I'm sure that will come at some point anyway, whether it'sin this DLC or the next one.

I'm also hoping for some new means of becoming a werewolf! I thought it was stupid that if I want to RP as one, I have to join the Companions.

I'm hoping we can still cast spells and use equipment in Vampire Lord Form.

It's pretty safe to assume it is 3rd person only just like everything else is.

Those perk trees look pretty cool, as well as the fact that now you are only attacked as a Vampire in your Lord form.

With this in mind, and the added ability to change appearance, would it be unreasonable to ask that we be allowed to do some "respecing"?
Now before some of you get yourselves worked into fits over this, let me clarify. Say you are level 81, but never put points into archery, do not ask me how they got it up this high without some points in it, would we be allowed to do a respec at the cost of something?
For those who have played Fallout, it would function kind of like a trait. You get "x" at the cost of "y".
I don't think you should be allowed to do a full rebuild, but say 5-10% maybe of your total level?
And for the people that are tying theselves into fits, remember, it's optional. Do not want to do it, leave it alone. Simple.
For the record, I have 4 different characters, with about 500 total hours in. Two are level in the 70's, and yes, one I did try the "ogmha glitch" (sp?) on. The other 70 has about 250 hours in. My other two are level 45 and 34 respectively. So I can say with a fair certainty that I do love this game and have put a lot of my free time into it, who needs tv?
I just would appreciate the choice, isn't that why we play these games in the first place?

I've read that the required level is level 10. So the DLC isn't meant for 'fresh' characters but it's hardly a high level area.

Yes, it completely erases the point of planning ahead, making new characters and opens up whole knew ways to exploit the system. One could spend perks in smithing then after they've made the gear they like remove the perks. It also be incredibly complicated to do it part way. The fact that you've had four different characters with 500+ hours shows your ability to make a new character.

In the image I saw, the number was obscured by a light reflection. Are you sure it's ten?

It says that it's designed to work with any players who are above level 10. I think this just means that it would be hard for low level players. Similar things were in the New Vegas DLCs, where it warns you just before you go into the DLC area of the reccomended level, in case you are too weak to fight there.

seasonal foliage

Honestly I doubt we'll get this one, I'm not sure how much the engine would need revamping to support it, or if it'd affect hardware requirements. In the Gamejam vid it looked like it only affected a test area of Riverwood anyway, and it didn't add snow everywhere. So this might be more an idea for a later game.

Personally, I'm interested in if this block out the sun thing will be permanent (if you're on the vampire side) - be interesting to see how it affects the world.

What I want to know is, will the Dawnguard content be patched into Skyrim.esm like with Shivering Isles, or will it be a wholly seperate plugin like Morrowind's expansions?

Considering they're using a seperate update .esm, I'd say Dawnguard will have it's own .esm as well.
