Think about it, If your trying to market a dlc, Would you quote the time it takes to finish the main quest 10-20 hours, Or would you say that doing everything in the dlc would take 20-30 hours?

Its going to be 10-20 hours for the lot, This is Todd howard, He wouldnt undersell the dlc, Infact we all know he likes to overhype features, So I wouldnt be surprised if the 10-20 hours includes replaying the other faction.

Edit: lol a sad thought that would be just like todd howard, 10 hours if you play dawnguard once, 20 hours if you play again with the other faction. We all know that the factions will have mirror quests to eachother like the civil war. With slight changes.

10-20 hours i would guess is the time it takes to complete the MQ. After that
you can add tons of hours exploring the new content until you fingers bleed
and then some more. Just think about the short MQ in Skyrim and Oblivion and how many hours
we still are investing in the games:)

Exactly i like people that add new cards to the table. Like playing on master or do absolutely everything! Todd... hmmm... I don't really care if that is how much time there is in that DLC, im just glad that they are adding something new.

I get it people want a DLC that is like another 100 hours... do you even want to think about the ticket price on it? and then people would complain about how the price is too high and that they wont buy it. Mabie that is what they are doing... not making it too large, so people don't buy a $60 DLC.

this is their first DLC since release stop hammering on them.
And its illogical to assume they spent 6 months working on this. After finishing skyrim they probably took a 2-3 month break.
So its most likely they spent 3 months on this.

I'm so disappointed. I paid $60 for a game that I've played for about 500 hours. This DLC is only going to add to that disappointment.

A 3 month break while still getting paid?

Damm, you have high standards. I paid 50 for Skyrim and played it 300 hours, and i am very happy. More time will be added with Dawnguard.

Your kidding right??? if you buy a different $60 game, it would have way less than a 5th of the hours on Skyrim. and the DLC would give you something new to the table, and to make many more class builds and what not.

Are they adding new territory?

I am assuming it is on an island to the north. And hoping its not a placement on the old map. but if it is oh well, im not going to complain.

I believe that the estimate of 20 hours was only for the mainquest im sure there will be extra stuff to find or look for in the espansion.

I hope your right.

This DLC will be worth the 20$ either way but i expect the best from Bethesda.

(which means if there's less it better make up for that in quality)

Wow. You're actually doing Bethesda's hyping job for them with your creative interpretations of what they stated.

Yeah I don't mean to burst bubbles, but people need to calm down or you're building up hopes to be shattered.

This is Todd Howard. I honestly cannot name a developer that overhypes or blatantly lies more than Todd. He's lied or exaggerated in practically every interview he's given, and sometimes the lies are so outrageously shameless (remember the preview of Oblivion's AI? The radiant AI that was supposedly scrapped and they "accidently" forgot to tell everyone before release?) and they're never addressed.
If you hear "10-20 hours" from Todd Howard and you're assuming "10-20 hours for the main quest only," then you're definitely setting yourself up for disappointment. Always take what he says with a grain of salt. In this case? Assume the 10 hours is the correct length of the DLC.

The lack of appreciation burns. 10-20 hours obviously means just doing the main quests. It's not like you're gonna be done with the game once you finish that. How many of you got to 300 hours in vanilla Skyrim and said, "Well i did 300 hours i guess I'm not allowed to play anymore because that's the limit Todd set". Stop acting like entitled gamers.

I think the peoples main problem is their REALLY high standards, especially for a DLC, and plus they said they are making more DLCs for Skyrim, so don't like Dawnguard?, don't buy it and wait for the next DLC that would be coming in another 8 months.

My guess is that the first two dlc's will be 10-20 hours (More than acceptable size, but not Shivering Isles standard) to get the agreement with Xbox out of the way. Than we will see the bigger "expansion pack" stuff, when everyone can enjoy it at the same time and not spoil it for others. Thoughts?

Oh want to hear a REALLY bad DLC/Expansion!?!?! Try the new WoW mist of Pandaria... if anything PANDAS are wayyyyy worse then the 'short' 10 -20 hrs of gameplay. I mean seriously just be glad that they are not doing something that horrifyingly stupid.

10-20 hours is decent but that seems small for TES game

Really? 10-20 hours for several questlines seems like a lot to me. Plus the other features (new weapons, perk trees, etc) will add almost infinite replayability for me.

Hi again.

Let's agree to disagree. I will be passing this particular DLC, due to the price/main theme combo. But I'm looking forward to see what else they have up their sleeves!

Most of the other extra stuff will probably be out of proportion to the actual game simply based on how TES has done it before.

Knights of nine was 20$ as well, however it probably has less entertainment value then this DLC.

Shivering Isles was 30$ and it only had 30 hours.

It's the smae for Morrowind.

So if you have followed your own philosiphy you havn't bought any Xpacks.
