Dawnguard June 26 10-20 hours

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 4:38 am

Meh. This DLC looks "meh" at the very best...

I kind of agree. There are a lot of things in it that look promising, but I just can't get over those vampire lords. They look silly and move like automatons.

May I see some credible evidence?

1600 MS points, and $20 for PS3/PC.
I remember he said it was not going to be as big as the Shivering Isles, it was even mentioned aren't e3 to be bigger than Knights of the Nine but smaller than the Shivering Isles.

10 to 20 hours seems awful small...Sort of disappointed over that.

I wonder if that takes into account both the Dawnguard and Volkihar questlines.

June 26!? I can't wait that long. Even though I have to . Unless I get lucky and get the beta. Fingers crossed!

Ten hours is good for expansion, IMO. Plus, director Todd Howard mention they are planning more DLC later.

it's probably 10-20 hours if you rush through the main quests and know exactly what to do. probably 20-40 hours if you take your time and explore and do everything.

That's the spirit! Let's needlessly get our hopes up and assume more than what the developers promised.

Which is why I cant wait to kill them all. I mainly just want new weapons and mounted combat over anything else really. The entire feeling of being and transforming into werewolves and vampires are more of a gimmick/ nuisance to me, than an immersive gameplay feature. Cant wait to kill em off.

What happend to huge expansions like SI?

It took 7 months to make this...?
Keep in mind that half the company is still fixing bugs, and most likely already working on yet another DLC. 10-20 hours is a lot closer to SI than Fallout teany tiny DLC, so I'm happy.

You can't really measure this DLC in terms of hours though since for the first time an ES DLC/expansion is adding a new area that is self contained PLUS adding new stuff to the already existing game.
The 20 hours thing probably refers to the main quest of Dawngaurd itself, but it's to say nothing of how much fun the game will be again now with all the new stuff in it.

10 to 20 hours of new content excluding the new play-styles that will be available to players after the DLC...

They said earlier that the dlc "will feel like an expansion." 20 hours seem like an expansion to you? Somewhere between SI and KotN, huh? Take KotN, cut it in half and that is the content. Let's remember the Skyrim promises. 7000 steps, ruin the economy by burning fields and lumber mills, launch with no bugs and an advance bug tracker that allows developers to fix bugs in real time, dragons will be epic, graphics will be as seen on these official screenshots. Bethesdamania is running wild on you.

15 hours does not represent a "massive DLC" when the majority of the Elder Scrolls community is familiar with Shivering Isles. I'm pretty disappointed

Yes, people complain because we were told we would be receiving huge expansions on scale with SI, not some mini-questline.

Of course I'm buying it, it looks wonderful, I just don't care for being told something and it not happen.

No we weren't, we were told smaller than SI... Larger than Fallout 3.

10-20 hours could also just be the Dawnguard story, which would match it to Shivering Isles, there's still a lot of unknowns. I have a really hard time believing Bethesda isn't adding any more land to the game besides the Soul Cairn. Some of the screenshots show landmarks not present in Skyrim. http://images.g4tv.com/rimg_606x0/ImageDb3/300177_l/e3-2012-skyrim-dawnguard-screenshots.jpg in particular shows what appears to be a new region in the west. This could just be a distance shot of Eastmarch, but I don't see Windhelm, the Velothi Mountains are too small, and I don't see the Bonestrewn crest. Given that the sun is either Rising or Setting here, it either has to be looking out West or East, and there's no way this area is The Reach.

couldn't you complete all there was to complete in for lets say the Pitt in 5 Hours? or Point look out, the "biggest" of the FO3 DLC's took what. 10 maybe? and thats simply doing the MQ AND exploring locations.

The new theme is to incorporate rather than it be seperated entirely like past DLC's and again I'm finding this hours to coin conversion ratio comparison VERY SILLY. It adds on, Significantly more than what Beth has done in years and its one of the SMALLER DLC's come people :)

and no BBB I wasn't offended, the "sides" thing is annoying though.

Wow. You're actually doing Bethesda's hyping job for them with your creative interpretations of what they stated.

Estimates mean nothing to me. I will play as much or as little as I want. Even if it is short, I will make my way through it with many characters. People need to not rely on official estimates and think how much time they themselves will invest in it. I know for me it will be much more than twenty hours. Not only that, but the rewards and powers specific to the DLC carry over into the rest of the game. So the story may be twenty hours, but the DLC is as long as you play Skyrim in my opinion.

Ten to twenty hours I hope is referring to the main story of Dawnguard, and I hope there is a lot to keep me happy while I play this game for several hundred more hours.
I know some want more and that us good more is more, but from how it seems so far anyways Dawnguard is offering more than the DLC of Fallout 3 and the DLC of Oblivion minus the Shivering Isles.

The dlc is not just as long as it is, but as long is itself plus Skyrim. Right.

KoTN was tiny and added like a suit of armor... The walk to HH is 7000 (Steps, not staircase steps), the economy thing got cut and may be added back in. All the pieces still exist in the Creation Kit, they just aren't connected for whatever reason. Who knows about the bug thing. (Whatever it is, it would be inhouse so we can't see it anyway). I think dragons are pretty damn epic, and the graphics are great. (Not 'EPIC' but still really awesome and a HUGE improvement over past games)

I don't see what the problem is.

I am always surprised by the internet.... It seems like it is an unpleasable beast... People complain that DLC isn't immediately given to them and complain more when they get some.

People really need to stop their whining about the DLC. It is going to be roughly 10-20 hours, but we all know that we will replay it on many characters. And really it is just an estimate on how long it is, some people may speed through it and some people like me, will take their time and enjoy the DLC, and will replay it (for both sides and such). People that [censored] about how short it is; is [censored]; if I am correct this is the longest DLC (not Expansion like SI). I hate to sound like a broken record but 10-20 hours is about the length of most games today without DLCs. AND there is planned to be more MEATY DLCs in the future. So if you don't like what they are doing for DLCs for Skyrim you can GTFO, no one is making you play it. And do you know how hard it is to please the many people that play this game! insanely hard! They announce a good length DLC and half of the people that play it are getting all butt hurt over how it isn't one upping SI or any of the other previous DLCs for past games.
