I mean.. it DOES look like it could add some fun elements. But Cheesy action movies can be "fun" .

On the dawnguard order side we have an Ancient looking order that has APPEARED FROM NOWHERE and has never been mentioned before. Furthermore there are already Orders dedicating to fighting undead.

On the vampire side...
Firstly skyrim's Main Group of vampires are the Volkihair . Who Live (or stay dead, whatever) underneath Frozen lakes. They are basicaly "ice vampires" and so probably look like Drowned corpses covered in frost. Not a bunch of Fancy people living in an island castle (which might be akaviri).
Secondly the bat magic- What a horrible cliche that doesn't fit with the magical rules of Tamriel . You Summon spirits or Daedra- Not small and fluffy animals! It does look nice but so do shiney things.
The werewolf like transformation is also a Non tes thing. It's like they just ripped ideas of a movie to be Epic and hip.

On advancing lore- My anology is something like this.

It's OK to find out about a hand. How it's muscles move and where the tendons and bones are. Perhaps where the hair is on the hand.

It's Not ok to Expand upon the hand by adding Feet to the hand and Removing the fingers. That's pretty much what Dawnguard appears to be doing. Like they Grabbed a load of crappy movie ideas and threw them into skyrim.

They could've just used the Vigil of Stendar instead of pulling stuff out of their asses.

I do love the -PLONK- there's now a huge castle in the rift, that no-one has ever discussed.

I dont mind that they added this to the lore, its just that is feels clicé. Lots of fantasy stories are clihcé, but vampires are wayyy too overused.

Nothing new is actually brought to the table.

So you have played it? If not then your arguement has no basis what so ever.

Regarding the order appearing from nowhere, my guess is we well be using the elderscroll to travel back in time.

lol Bethesda made the TES lore and they can move it/change it in any direction they so choose, and that is just your opinion of what YOU think the Volkihair should look like. Have a little faith in Bethesda ok I'm sure that the DLC will not disappoint you and that everything will be explained in away that is lore friendly

The first point could be said for every other piece of DLC Bethesda has ever released that adds a new location.

Secondly, the vampires could have easily migrated from any of the surrounding regions, such as Morrowind. Not all vampires in Skyrim *have* to be a part of the clan you mentioned.

And lastly, nothing in Elder Scrolls lore says *anything* about bats or their relation to vampires. Your claim is baseless.

Hi there jack254! Hope all's well.

I somewhat disagree. I think the plan to get the hold of an Elder Scroll and blot out the sun seems interesting enough, as it doesn't sound cliché. What is cliché is the theme in itself - vampires vs hunters -, of which the pompous tone with which the speech is delivered is yet another signal, but let's give Beth a chance to show what it can do. Maybe they approached it differently, freshly. Let's not give up, not just yet. However, it is to be noted, the animations look ugly, with a distinct Oblivion off flavour, animatronic as hell, but, of course, one has to be cautious and wait for the final product. Lastly, get ready for some forum lapidating

That's what I was hoping for, but we know nothing of the Dawnguard yet - maybe there's more to them? Maybe they have a deeper purpose and they're hunting vampires not simply because they're vamps, but because of what they're trying to do?
There's a "guard" in their name. What are they guarding? And from whom exactly?
They could just be protecting the world from abominations, like the Vigilants of Stendarr - or maybe something more interesting, something bigger, something that spans beyond just saving living from the undead.

They're vampire hunters who hunt vampires that want to black out the sun. The Dawnguard guard the sun. Hence the name dawn-guard.

I do love the PLONK - here is a statement made with no factual evidence at all.

The castle does look like it is in the Rift, but this is why I think that Dawngaurd will take place in the past using the elderscroll to get there.

bad anology. Cheesy action movies and these vampires have nothing in common.

You might as well underrate everything you like and compare them to cheesy action movies.

On the dawnguard order side we have an Ancient looking order that has APPEARED FROM NOWHERE and has never been mentioned before. Furthermore there are already Orders dedicating to fighting undead.

There is much TES lore that history does not have recorded, or the evidence of their history has not been found until this expansion. There is plenty about Tamriel that people aren't aware of.

These vampires are likely to not be Volkihair. Don't judge them until you learn the full story about these new vampires.

Secondly the bat magic- What a horrible cliche that doesn't fit with the magical rules of Tamriel . You Summon spirits or Daedra- Not small and fluffy animals! It does look nice but so do shiney things.

You talk like you know every type of magic there is in Tamriel. There can be ancient or revolutionized/evolved magic that isn't common and could be exclusive to these vampires. Just like the Circle of werewolves have a special blood that allows them to control when they transform.

The werewolf like transformation is also a Non tes thing. It's like they just ripped ideas of a movie to be Epic and hip.

I think you watch too many movies.

Movies has corrupted your perception of thinking outside the box instead of slapping everything as cliche like some know-it-all.

After watching the video, I don't even think they're a form of vampire we've ever seen. They've got glowing orangish-red eyes, worship Molag Bal and "feast on souls". I welcome whatever they are, it looks good and I'm sure it'll have a well fleshed out story behind it, from both angles.

Not at the expense of already establish lore. That's why I'm hoping to see true Volkihar included as well.

If speculation is to believed, the Dawnguard could be from the Order of the Virtuous Blood, a group of vampire hunters you helped start in Oblivion. A 200 year old order that fights vampires, and didn't appear from nowhere.

Secondly the bat magic- What a horrible cliche that doesn't fit with the magical rules of Tamriel . You Summon spirits or Daedra- Not small and fluffy animals! It does look nice but so do shiney things.
How do we know they aren't related to daedra? They seem to fit Vaermina's motif pretty well, and the shots of the graveyard-like areas also look like it could be her realm. And there were hints in Morrowind that she has some connection to vampires.

As for the location of the Dawnguard's castle, perhaps it's just south/south-east of the Rift, in between the Jerral and Valus mountain ranges, in an area that was previously out of bounds. It'd also be pretty close to, or just inside, Cyrodiil, the province where the Order of the Virtuous Blood was started.
