You may try to dump memory with softice - before crash and after and compare results.Or set breakpoint on error message maybe

From my limited experience of writing 3d applications I was expecting to be able to find a CreateDevice someplace that passed in the presentation parameters, one of which being windowed mode or not.I really can't remember how to read raw assembly though and I think it would perhaps shorten my life if i attempted to learn again:)I do remember something like that when you alt-tabbed out in D3D you had to renew your device and textures though as they were invalidated which I guess the CoC engine doesn't do:)

If you freeze the game process before switching applications it doesnt crash.

Fraya if you can work out how to make it think you finished the game on the higher difficulty levels even if you finish it on the lowest i can add into the patcher the option to always finish with the extended ending. Got the time extended, number of saves extended and mythos points at zero just the difficulty thats missing. This i think would be nice for those without the time/skill to finish on the harder difficulties.

It wouldn't renew the device, it was written for the Xbox. The Xbox can only ever have one application running at any one time, which means it has no need to switch between processes like in Windows.Lousy Microsoft w2k gaming kernel...

ah correct yes no alt tab for an xbox game makes sense...still there should be a CreateDevice call shouldnt there? So it's just stupid disassemblers or me being off the ball i guess;)I not long ago finished the game and man I so love the art and plot, it's so gonna remain in my gaming memory as a highlight. The times I jumped were so great. The immersion for me was great, I must admit I did help it along with muttering for Jack when he didn't:)I guess it is the xbox side let the game down for the pc with an engine that really wasn't designed to work on the myriad hardware that is the pc.

By popular demand I whipped something up real fast.. its quick and dirty but works:http://nosguild.org/storage/cocdcoteplus1trainer.rarJust one function at the moment everything else you could want seems to be covered by the patcher.

Nice find xbill.I've tried this and whilst it does show the extended content in my case the game doesn't end correctly. It leaves me in the asylum with the lower half of the screen white. This is just me?

^Worked fine for me (original .exe).EDIT: Setting WinXP appcompat to run the game in a 256-color mode and running the game at the resolution of my desktop (1024x768@60Hz - didn't try other modes) seemed to help - alt-tabbing didn't kill the game (didn't modify the executable).

Yeah I've tried with the original exe same thing.I did do a debug save just before going through the portal though so maybe it's that.Doesn't happen with the none extended one.

Check to make sure the hex edit/patch for misc01_city_of_dreams_03.bat didn't go awry.patched md5: 5f3d453af4ff3f3f18d584bf08642131original md5: 6f93cb1d47f1a2f7605946198d0f5172All the patch does is change the value of a variable for the extended cutscene stuff. It's a simple integer value that is checked in the script. If you ranked A on MythosSpecialist it sets it to 1 for you, but otherwise it is 0.I tried different video resolutions, compatibility mode, etc. but have been unable to reproduce the white screen glitch.I have fairly utilitarian Intel chipset graphics and the game runs great for me at 800 x 600. Anything much higher makes the fades and action a little choppy, but still no white screen glitch.

Hi to everybody!I'm an Italian guy who likes this game very much!I appreciate much the patch by svcklead, but I've some questions about it.1) Edit Mode. How do I use it? I tick the options, after pressing F1, but nothing change.2) Where can I access to all levels? (of course I've tick the corresponding option when patching the original exe).
