Dcotepatch

Added a new feature I found by accident:Turning release mode off adds an extra entry to the death menu "Dev Continue" that brings you back to life where you died. Some of you having trouble with certain levels might find this nicer than using God mode;)Don't think there will be many more features we will be able to add now.Requires .NET 1.1http://www.svcklead.com/DCoTEPatch.exe

Yeah that's right when you interact with stuff the arm comes out. They dropped it because it didn't perform 100% as they wanted I think. Myself I think it is a really neat touch that more games should have.

Excellent. I'm really liking the ui the patcher has too. It's there a way to alter the damage each weapon inflicts and the amount of ammo each can carry?

Added in the weapon variables.I'm not convinced they make a huge difference, certainly the number of projectiles doesn't seem to have an effect, and the NPCS use the same values as the player!I have a patch to unlock all the locked content also but I think most of you are having fun trying to complete it 100% anyhow so I've not included it for now:)http://www.svcklead.com/DCoTEPatch.exe

Just an opinion but I think the arm reach is kind of silly. Granted, the Xbox version may work differently. Arm reach seems to slow interection with doors and things down since it has to animate the arm moving toward actionable objects. It's interesting to try this disabled feature, but I wouldn't recommend it for playing through the game.

Would you really want to cheat the content unlock?I mean soon as you've got that it's not likely you'd play it anymore which would be a shame.Besides it's not Easter yet;)

The unlocked content doesn't spoil the game as far as I can tell.

Ah but the replaying and replaying to reach the Goal of unlocking it is whats important:)By the way it's not just a simple change to the xml entries with a hex editor.

Indeed it is but like i said that's not just a simple change like the others:)Now it's out of the bag though if you downloaded the patch in the last couple of days you can click in the text box at the top press CTRL-G and the unlock checkbox will appear. It looks at the same byte as debug mode so you need debug mode on also.

Reach arm was removed because it slowed the gameplay down, a shame really as with a little more time I think we could've made it a great feature. unique even.Hacker bloke, have you worked out fly mode yet???

It'd be useful if we could force the PC exe to read external XML files, like the Xbox version. I haven't found anything in the exe that does this, though. Maybe... cxbx...

I was thinking soemthing along those lines, except maybe an external program being called to feed in the external files.Edit: According to the source code, the game engine name was the HF engine - HF > Headfirst? Get it?I also found references to Netimmerse and Truevision, but these are probably just coincidental naming conventions. I also learnt it supports SM3.0also various other sticks like 'Geforce 3/4 -- heat haze off/n' and 'Nvidia other -- no hacks\n', aswell as native Windows Server 2003 support.I've added breakpoints where it loads the XML files, but the debugger crashes the game somehow. Darn x64 processors...The game engine seems to be more up to date then we think according to the very few string names I've read through. You know what'd be cool? (ex)HeadFirst lisensing out it's technology to independant game developers/mid-sized game studios. Or giving us a recompiled debug executable that could externally load the xml files ;).

Yeah - I figured it was HeadFirst when I was looking at the source scripts (.hfs) on the Xbox. hfs must be HeadFirst Script. Debugger crashes for me, too. Tried to set a watch on the address for the Settings.xml but it bombs out well before that. I tried another approach using Sysinternal's FileMon to watch the system for file accesses. Plenty of DLLs opened. CoCMainWin32.exe opens itself as a file and reads various blocks from it. None of the blocks seem to match up with the offset for the XML, though.

Ah good I'd had a look into doing this last week and gave up after the debugger crashed. Tried filemon also.Think I've given up now after realising that I don't really have enough time and there are others with probably more ability:)
