Disappointed w Werewolves

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:34 am

I wished Farkas or Vilkas died, and Skjor was kept alive. I felt left out being surrounded by whiners. Though I liked how there was a conflicting perspective on Lycanthropy. Skjor and Aela seeing it as a gift while the others saw it as a curse. Kodlak calling it a "rot" while the Totems of Hircine book calls civilization a bad thing and ancient werewolf power a blessing.

I wish Farkas would have died because he was slow, both mentally and physically, and I liked Vilkas' armor it was cool. I would like to see a quest in a DLC that involved those ancient tribes that were werewolves.

Does anyone else feel like werewolves could've been a little better. I would've preferred if you transformed at night or something instead of at will. Also it bothers me that all werewolves look exactly the same. Comments are welcome.
Only four things which makes me sad about them.
Spoiler

1. They are connected to Companions.
2. You can't randomly encounter them in wilderness at nigh time.
3. You can't eat animals and creatures - only NPCs.
4. Forced 3rd person.

I find it silly that if you don't care about lycanthropy and just don't use your transformation power, there are absolutely no downsides to being "cursed". lol

I believe you can't get the rested or well rested bonus from sleeping but that is the only actual downside.

Exactly. It should be a curse to make people truly want to desperately cure it. It would make that quest meaningful. For example, cure vampirism quest in Oblivion had everyone shouting and celebrating that they cure vampirism. In Skyrim, it's more of a "whatever" thing..

Werewolves always been more of a good thing then bad thing in TES series. Vampirism always been the bad thing in TES series and specially the most annoying thing.

The only thing that bothers me is that werewolves are so weak, I only use it to run fast because in combat I'm way better off just staying in normal form

The only reason I became a werewolf was so I wasnt a vampire. That was the most annoying thing ever that bothered me the most about this game. I didnt want to be either, but because I went to fight some vampires I suddenly just became one. They should have made it so you could only become one if bitten, I never got bit by a vampire, kept my distance when fighting, and still became one all because they used some "power" on me. Im just glad you can choose to become a werewolf when you want, I havent used it yet since I got it.

There definitely could be some improvement. It feels more like another power rather than a curse with some benefits. I wouldn't mind some random changes at nightfall; people in town freaking out if you change..ect. The look of them is fine for me..wouldn't mind some polish on the combat.

Exactly.

The first time i tried it i thought "bloody hell this werewolf is going to be a bit tasty in a fight" only to get one shotted off a bandit chief.

My sword and board warrior would have handled him no problem.

lol. the same thing happened to me. i thought when i was in werewolf form, "OH YEAH! these bandits are so screwed!" 'bandit chief walks up and screams, "eat my silver sword of awesome werewolf slaying!" and i get one shotted by a...steel sword? what the hell just happened?

I see the Silver-hand as being the real monsters.

In all of my travels I've never incountered a werewolf outiside of the Champions quest line. But the Silver-hand has somehow captured and killed them left and right? The only explanation for the number of weres the Silver-hand has taken out is that they are kidnapping normal folks and forcing them to drink were-blood just so the Silver-hand can kill another were.

I think an interesting mechanic would be if the likelihood of a random transformation increased the longer you went without transforming at will.

That would be cool, or they could let us transform at will once a day, and then on full moons we are forced to transform.

There are many problems with werewolves but they are fast. I just use 'beast form' for travel. He's too weak to fight the enemies my present character encounters.

Covers ground like nothing else in the game.

I've been a werewolf for quite some time and I still haven't crossed another one in the wild.

There are, I find the biggest downside is every other guard saying "is that fur coming out of your ears?" gets more annoying than arrow to the knee.

In Morrowind it multiplied your health by 2 and it gave you a huge bonus to strength. Doubling your health instead of a static bonus made you more powerful the higher your level. Werewolves in Skyrim are strong at first, but the bonus isn't strong enough for higher levels.

Yeah I'm with you on this one mate. It's great for travelling, but I hide behind a nearby mound or building or something 'till I change back. Should be a half-transform option so you can sprint half as fast as the full transformation, but you can still have all your armour and weapons equip. I mean, it's still timed and limited to once a day (*twice a day) so it's not that overpowered.
