Disappointed w Werewolves

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 9:55 pm

Does anyone else feel like werewolves could've been a little better. I would've preferred if you transformed at night or something instead of at will. Also it bothers me that all werewolves look exactly the same. Comments are welcome.

I like controlling when I change, when I play a werewolf. Different appearances would be nice, though.

Yeah, it really bugged me how you couldn't go into 1st person. And when you joined the companions you HAD to become a werewolf.

It put me off that faction as soon as i found that out.I couldnt really see why the silver hands were so bad unless theres something i havent seen yet later in the quest.

The third person view is terrible and changing into a werewolf made my considerably weaker than i was normally.

My warrior is much more powerful as a warrior than he ever will be as a werewolf. It leaves me with no reason to transform other than running fast.

This. Was about to write the same. Werewolf-form is useless to me; so I cured myself.

Exactly.

The first time i tried it i thought "bloody hell this werewolf is going to be a bit tasty in a fight" only to get one shotted off a bandit chief.

My sword and board warrior would have handled him no problem.

No, because then you'd have people complaining about "Why can't we transform any time we want? this is stupid!"

I like how you're immune to diseases; that's handy (damn Rockjoint).

Yeah, but that where the Ring of Hircine could've came in. It could allow you to tranform at will.

I didn't cure myself since there are no negatives to being one and it provides immunity from disease. Why is Vampirism considered a disease this time? Makes no sense. Oh well. I actually enjoyed the quest to cure it in Oblivion.

Forced transformations once a month on top of your ability to transform at will would have been welcome. It'd also be nice to see your defense and offensive abilities augmented by your levels so that you're consistently more powerful transformed than you are as a normal human being.

The third person view doesn't bother me too much, though I can understand why it would bother some.

But being a werewolf shouldn't just be a matter of transforming. There should be perks when you're in human form too (like the disease immunity). I'd have liked to have seen a slight increase in your health and stamina regen rates, as well as a reduced cost for sprinting and power attacks. A Night Eye ability (like the one they put in but removed), would have also been welcome.

As for the Silver Hand, they're nothing more than a group of bandits that hate werewolves. It doesn't matter who you are though, they'll try and kill you even if you haven't set foot in Whiterun. My guess is they discovered the Companions secrets when one of their leaders was taken out by them and they swore revenge after that, but they're still a bunch of thugs.

Things like, when you are a werewolf :
-Can't wear or wield silver armor or weapons
-Silver weapons : a)They do 2x the damage to you, b)They un-transform you back to your natural form (perhaps after a certain damage threshold)
-You transform when you sleep at night, every night or a lunar cycle would need to be incorporated for full moons
-The Ring of Hircine could allow you to control these transformations at will
-1st person view should be available
-Werewolf perk tree should exist
-You should decide whether to become a werewolf or not, and not be obligated to
-Werewolf-specific armors and the ability to wield weapons, if one doesn't like the unarmed aspect of being a werewolf
-Werewolf-specific quests, other than the Companions'

Oh, and also :
-Be able to join The Silver Hand, if you do not like werewolves.

it has always been a disease afaik (never became one in daggerfall and dont have arena). anyway, the worst part about werewolves imo (even worse than how weak they are since i can use the roar to compensate, but it should be fixed aswell) is 3rd person, it is the most annoying view ever, joining a guild tha has nothign to do with werewovles to be one is also a bit annoying and no forced transformations when a full moon happens should be fixed (like daggerfall, the only forced transformaitons should be when a full moon is high).

i like all of those ideas but the weapons/armour ones, werwovles are mindless beasts so they cannot wield weapons or armour

Mindless you say? Then, why would you control it?

But... perhaps you're right.

I'm finding it alright.

I'm not sure if they balanced anything with the latest patch but my Werewolf seems a lot stronger now and the killing blow animations are pretty cool.

controling it is simply a gameplay thing (story-gameplay segregation) but you used have to kill someone or be lowered to 1hp (thats was back when it actually mattered that you took damage) which represents the hunger of the beast (which is, in part, what makes them become mindless killing-machines, sometiems even in human form the hunger drives them insane)

I like being able to change at will too. I do wish though that fur color was based on whatever your hair color is.

I don't. The idea of a blonde werewolf just doesn't sit right with me. And what would happen to Argonian werewolves?

I think there should be variations in coloring, so lighter haired people have lighter fur when transformed, but not to the point that if you're blonde, you're a blonde werewolf. That idea just sounds weird to me.

And I think it should be a mixture of both forced transformations (once or twice monthly based on the lunar cycles) and freedom to transform at will.

And I don't like the idea of your hair changing color when transforming into a werewolf. Blonde Nord = Blonde werewolf

Argonian werewolves with scales instead of hair?
Argonian werewolves with scales and hair?
Argonian werewolves with only hair?

Khajiit werewolves with more hair?
