Disturbing Habits

Did you guys even read Leydenne's post back at the end of Page 4? Jeez.

I'm going to delete a number of posts that contravened that moderator instruction.

The "disturbing habit" of smoking in public is closed to further discussion.

"What do you call a fly with no wings"

"A walk"

My daughter hits me for making jokes like that. Elder abuse!

Just because you think something isn't funny, doesn't mean it isn't. I'll laugh at a well-timed "Ya mam" joke as much as I'll laugh at something that's ironic. Ironic "Ya mam" jokes kill me.

A lot of the jokes I love are ridiculously sick. From a moral stand-point that is. And it's not that I take the same moral view as those who make the jokes (and they probably don't mean them either), doesn't stop me laughing though.

I also like rubbish jokes. Like completely abysmal jokes, that are so bad, they're funny. e.g "What do you call a fly with no wings"

"A walk"

It's horrible. But I laughed anyway.

EDIT:

Wow, didn't realise there was 5 pages, this has probably been covered already

Your mother jokes arent funny, they become less funny when used as often as a full stop, they become even less funny when after years people still say it.
Yes some jokes I laugh at I shouldnt, but there is a difference, your mother jokes are repetative, predictable and just not funny to begin with imo.
Yes the walk joke is horrible.

Way to just ignore what I said about people having different taste. Just because you don't find something funny, doesn't mean other people won't. Repetitive jokes can be annoying, but they can also be funny. By purposely repeating something, and then doing it for a lot longer than people expect you to actually carry it on, can be funny. It's called opinion, you are entitled to think that those jokes aren't funny, but you can't tell people that they aren't, when clearly, a lot of people find them funny.

Yeah some people get annoyed when you do those in-house jokes with friends. They're just not getting it because they have no idea why it's funny, and as much as they ask they're never told why it's funny, because we all know if explained, it'll stop being funny.

For a while we had the "Beef" going. We'd turn up at a mates' wedding and see how many of us could get the word beef into the wedding. Either written on a piece of paper in wedding pictures, or somebody shouting it on camera. If you listen real close, at one point on the video you can hear one of my mates do a 'beef' cough during the actual ceremony. By the end of the night beef was being chanted at the party, and then we did the pub crawl we managed to get an entire pub of people we didn't know chanting, "Beef, beef, beef Harry!" Hilarious. But we did get a few dirty looks from some folk.

I've noticed more and more (maybe because of the accessibility of news) that people are, literally, forcing their views (religious, political, w/e) on others. That really bothers me.

That's been happening since the beginning of society. They're called laws :whisper: . You've probably just been noticing it more because of all the gay marriage, health care, and Black President hubbub going around.

Exactly. How do you think most of the early wars started? People forcing their (usually religious) views on others.

It's disturbing when teenagers think that this generation is the only one where kids drank, did drugs and tried to bone anything that moved. You can bet your dad bragged the first time he got laid, just like his dad did. You can also bet that your parents snuck out to a few parties, or brought booze on a camping trip when they were underage. Your parents (or at least mine) grew up in the 60s/70s. That generation probably did more drugs and got laid more than this generation could hope.

Two wrongs don't exactly mak a right. My biology tutor grew up in the sixties, and he says there was nowhere near as much drugs about then as was claimed.

I find it disturbing that even at 17 people are still making your mother jokes and perverted immature jokes, I honestly feel like punching some people. Also annoying is the fact that I am always told to turn my music down in public, fine imo it shouldnt bother others...Yet no one says anything about girls playing justin [censored] bieber on the bus.

I still make your mother jokes. I'm 20. Not often, but I still do. All my friends do. It's not even offensive anymore. We do it precisely because it's not offensive. We use it in situations where it doesn't even necessarily make sense.

Because cigarette companies main goal is to get you hooked, while food and drink are basic necessities of life.

McDonald's food was highly addictive (and sugar filled) at one point, I dont know if that's changed or not since then. Everything can be addictive in copious ammounts, alcohol, fast food, soda, junk food, cigarettes, six, drug's. Your body will eventually build a reliance on it, mental or physical.

Whether or not you believe they are healthy is one thing, but soda contains water which you body can utilize, and McDonalds contains fat and calories to keep you from starving. Cigarettes have no beneficial function to your body whatsoever, besides making you feel good.... until you get addicted and the cravings kick in.

Cigarettes have beneficial functions for me. They stop me going ona stress induced rampage throughout new york while I attack some dude played by Tim Roth. :P

Everyone knows its not funny, they even do a fake laugh, yet continue to do it just because...

Still those views kinda helped everyone agree murder is bad, and kept society somewhat civilised... So yeah it was bad, but had a good outcome.

Please do not turn this into an anti-smoking or anti-fast food debate, as everyone gets all bent out of shape and I end up locking threads and handing out warnings. And I really don't feel like doing the paperwork, so don't make the cat cranky(er).

Is every moderator on this forum actually an animal in a cage in a giant warehouse in Washington, D.C., with electrodes wired to their brains to allow them to type? Rohugh will need a larger cage, of course, being a bear and all.

On topic, I also dislike people who are unable to sense irony and sarcasm - people who think Jon Lajoie is genuinely a sixist moron. IT'S A JOKE, PEOPLE!!!!!!!! :gun:  :brokencomputer:   :banghead: :flame: :swear:

Why can't you get that; in some situations, those jokes are funny. It's opinion. This is the third time I've said this. I don't do a fake laugh at them. If they're funny, I'll laugh. If they're not, then I won't.

I also agree that stuff like 'that's what she said' and 'your mom' have a place. Obviously they're not very funny in themselves, but the slight sense of irony combined with good timing make them hilarious. Especially after a few drinks.

That's nothing, 2 summers ago, I went through 12 2 liters in a week.

Your poor teeth

Anywho, one really disturbing habit I've been really seeing with people is their tendancy to spend and spend some more until they're in deep debt. Be it loans, credit cards, or just impulsive spending.

That's what I always wonder about celebrities. Just what do they do with all their money? I would have quit everything and lived the easy life once I had like $10 million. The only thing I need to buy in life are my necessities, and my computer and video game hobby. I doubt I could spend even $1 million over the course of my lifetime.

I could spend $1million in less than a month. A decent sized (3 Bedroom) house around here can go for upwards of ?250,000, so I could guarantee I could spend a million on a house alone.

That's true, however I don't want or need a huge house with wasted rooms. I plan to get married someday, but I don't plan on having any children, so a nice cozy medium sized house would be fine with me. These famous celebs have multiple huge houses they could never use, and I feel that is a big waste.

If the wife wants it I'd think about it, otherwise I would rather get a vasectomy than deal with unplanned children. :whistling:

Not having a sense of smell isn't so bad when I'm next to smokers or when someone farts in an elevator :P

i dont have a sense of smell, and its usally me, but really its cause food here really isnt great for the bowels, especially considering im not used to the food round here, im from germany, where food was good.

yeah the teens blatantly admitting to drugs and six really is outta hand here, youd think the teachers/cops would get paid more for reporting this kind of stuff.

Stress

People are way to stressed. They run unto the buss, without letting people go off first, which creates a big mess. While I just stand a good 5m away and wait untill everyone is in/out before goign on myself.

People walking into you or semi-running and sighting behind you when they think you're blocking their path in malls.

People honking like crazy when I drive 70km/h on a 70km/h road and they want to go 90km/h.

Calm down people.
