A DLC just for Vamp Fans?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 1:53 am

Saying that you get to hunt vampires is really irrelevant. It misses the point entirely. The DLC seems to be primarily about vampires and there plan to blot out the sun. The fact that morrowind had a werewolf dlc is also irrelevant.

I want to say that I absolutely detest vampires and their "immortality."

I also want to go on record that I like their idea of blotting out the sun, but no way in hell am I siding with vampires that give out vampire rewards.

…but now I feel like I'm being forced to fight for the light, when I am clearly a child of the night.

Besides, the Dawnguard may not even like the fact that I have werewolf blood. :swear:
So much this.

My werewolf will not hunt vampires. She doesn't like them, but she feels a certain bond with them - they're both "unnatural creatures". If she helps the Dawnguard and they rid the world of vampires, what will they do next? Go the same way Vigilants of Stendarr did and turn on werewolves? No, she's not of the light, she's a wolf. She has no part in this war.

I also have a Bosmer ranger/assassin. She doesn't care about vampires. She also hates anything that smells of paladins. And she's antisocial, doesn't care for people around her and does only what's good for her. She will not join those who guard the dawn - not unless the vampires threaten her very life. Will they? If they will, she has a reason to fight. If not, then she'll just move to greener pastures where the sun still shines.

Only one of my characters is certain to join the Dawnguard. And none will ever join the vampires

Gods, how I hate vampires. But this is strictly personal and I know there's a lot of people who will be overjoyed to either join the vampires or the Dawnguard. I won't, that's why I hope this DLC brings something more - new areas, new side quests. It doesn't look that it does, though.

To a logical argument? Yes they are. I mean where did this come from? It seems like its only being done to please those that wanted more vampire content and has no basis in what has been happening in Skyrim.

I know I can join a faction against vampires, the Dawnguard, but this DLC is basically vamp fair. And yes I know some people love it and there is nothing wrong with that, I was just hoping for something more Skyrim related.

I love the Bloodmoon expansion, but it was a whole lot more than just becoming a werewolf (which I also cured). My favorite part of that whole DLC was building a new colony and having a new home in it.

I had not thought of considering the Dawnguard as a new Good warrior faction (still want to join the Silver Hand though). That is very much needed in this game.

To be honest, I've never been interested in playing a vamp. When we knew more about Dawnguard, I figured I'd play through the vamp side to see what it was like and that would be it. But now I've seen the leak, I want to properly play a vampire, because it sounds like they've properly fleshed it out.

And yeah, MW had Bloodmoon, but it also had vamp clans. Oblivion had the ability to be a vamp, but lycanthropy was completely nixed. Vamps have had the better of it so far, but whose to say that werewolves have no part in dawnguard, or there isn't a were-DLC on its way?

Ah, the wonders of uncertainty. :P

Vampires are a major factor in elder scrolls games , i love Vampire lore and im a fan as well , and happy with the upcoming dlc .
i understand what you are saying , it seems there are some people who arnt interested in vampires but there is actually more who are .
dont judge so quick , i have a funny feeling the dlc is going to be bigger then what ppl imagine .

im one of those individuals who isnt interested in werewolves , but im guessing there is definately new werewolf stuff in the dlc .
whatever it is people tend to use there imagination and create there own style or way of doing things within the game to make it more interesting. ( role playing)

there seem to be allot of individuals out there who just seem to like going around and hunting and killing random things .... im not quite like that i like to get into many of the quests and experience the journey .

ps . just remember Bethesda likes to hide allot from there fans , there is many stuff we dont know about in the upcoming dlc.

Someone had to be the bad guy, the fact that it will also make some TES fan's really happy having more of a vampire theme is serindipity for them. Bad guy's alway's have to do something really bad to make it worthwile. Blotting out the sun makes sense for Vampires. I guess it's all in the way that you look at it. I see it as a great new ememy and faction that I can join and a really cool new questline. Gotta save the world again!!!

I could have wished it would have been more Skyrim oriented, but I can deal with it either way. I guess it all depends on what else is on the DLC. Either way I will get it.

No more people asked for Vamp content then those who asked for Lycan, MQ extension, Daedric Realms, and Guild improvement dlc. Vamps get their spotlight which they deserve and maybe next we will get some new dryed-out dragon stuff. Even then you cannot say why Beth made this dlc. Maybe they had this idea all along but never found a time to make in in past TES games

I still hope that the DLC will take place in the morrowindmainland area near Blacklight, with Blacklight as a new city with side quest.

There are many types of vampires within Tamriel and nations, so to say its irrelevant is kinda stupid .

I must add that I do have a very hard time imagining the Skyrim hero of the main quest also being a Vampire Lord. Being a vampire lord would nearly by default take you out of the world affairs and into a darker more sinister setting.

Just like I did for joining the DB I will have to make a new character who's sole purpose is to join the Vamps in the DLC, just to see that side of the story, and then that character will be retired without doing much else. Well maybe the DB again and some Daedric quests.

ive noticed something allot of people are saying and im just going to throw this out there .

who ever said that the Dragonborn was a hero ?.

he could be a villain and thats the option bethesda has given its players .
Lore does not say that the Dragon born was a hero just because he stopped Alduin .

Just as the Hero of Kvatch and the Nerevarine are stated in history books as "Might Have" done this and that related to good and evil

What i find pretty ridiculous, is the very idea that a bunch of 20-40 year old mortals think they can take on a bunch of centuries (Maybe even millennia) old supernatural vampires. And not just any vampires, but the legendary Volkihar themselves! It'd be like a bunch of Lvl 15-30s trying to take on a bunch of Lvl 60-81s. The only individuals that i can think of in the Dawnguard that might stand a chance against one of the lesser Volkihar, is an Elf that's been fighting for centuries.
Reminds me a bit of that "Order of the Virtuous Blood" that was in Oblivion. A group of foolish old mortals who didn't have the strength or power to back up their agenda.

Vampires are a pretty obvious and boring villain. I wish Bethesda would get some better writers.

Hm, playing the Silver hand? Yeah, I would have liked that better than the companions. But alas, Dawnguard is also for vampire haters too

Been playing TES games since Arena. I've killed a lot of vampires. If I caught the disease, I cured it.

Only once did I 'play' a vampire and that was in MW which had 3 clans to join to make it more interesting. Course eventually I cured it and really didn't use that character for much else. Why? Well becuase I just don't see a hero as being a vampire.

Dawnguard looks interesting, but other than a few added items everyone can use, it looks like this DLC is basically just for vampire fans. There are vampire fans, I get that, but there enough to build the whole first DLC around them?

Will this DLC 'fit' in Skyrim? Thoughts?
Skyrim was all about dragons. Cut us some slack. We deserve this.

Thanks but when something is obviously an opinion there's no need.

I think it would've been better for bethesda to first put some flesh on the hollow bones of the already existing factions and then maybe this.

Isn't that the same as not catering solemnly to the vampire fans?
It depends on how much extra content there is excluding the Dawnguard/Vampire faction (which will have a single, complementary quest line)

Will Dawnguard have everything I mentioned?

Yes, then its' not solely for vampire fans

No, or very little: then it's for vampire lovers only, unless you're dieing to have crossbows in your game.

I'm emphatically not a vampire fan, but it's an aspect of TES lore, and I'm all for filling that in. I also agree that idealistic fighters are underserved faction-wise by Skyrim, and that the Dawnguard could offer those characters a home.

Well it is truly irrelevant considering that the dlc is coming, its got vamps, and there is nothing anyone can do to change it. Whining only makes you an annoyance so yu might as well wait for the next dlc

I also think that vampires are just played out at this time. Maybe give it a year and it wouldnt have been so grating.
