You can also kill the vampires if you wanted to.

Well it is truly irrelevant considering that the dlc is coming, its got vamps, and there is nothing anyone can do to change it. Whining only makes you an annoyance so yu might as well wait for the next dlc

Do you even know what irrelevant means?

I also think that vampires are just played out at this time. Maybe give it a year and it wouldnt have been so grating.

Vamps vs. WW are definitely played out, especially in the current books and movies. If Bethesda went down that path I would have been weeping.

Well at least with the PC I will know everything there is to know about the DLC before getting it. It might even have a few bugs fixed by the time I get it. I know I plan on having a new updated PC by then.

Been playing TES games since Arena. I've killed a lot of vampires. If I caught the disease, I cured it.

Only once did I 'play' a vampire and that was in MW which had 3 clans to join to make it more interesting. Course eventually I cured it and really didn't use that character for much else. Why? Well becuase I just don't see a hero as being a vampire.

Dawnguard looks interesting, but other than a few added items everyone can use, it looks like this DLC is basically just for vampire fans. There are vampire fans, I get that, but there enough to build the whole first DLC around them?

I can just think of so many things that are more 'Skyrim' related than vampires. Were-creatures for one thing. Skyrim is known for them. I would have loved a DLC that would allow you to join the Silver Hand and hunt down all were-creatures in Skyrim (including some in a certain faction). That would have been Skyrim related, that would have fit right into the main game. It just feels like this DLC caters to just a small vampire fan-base who would rather be playing some other vampire related game.

Will this DLC 'fit' in Skyrim? Thoughts?

I agree, however their is a anti vampire group to join. So at least ill be able to kill loads of vampires. (Who turn into bats? Bad more Beth)

I am hoping that the vampire stuff is just at the start and the main DLC quest line is about the Snow elf price, however with all the vampire stuff in that video I am doubting that.

I would love a DLC where you could join the Silver hand, because even though I like the companions I hate being forced into becoming a werewolf. Also I think the Silver hand need to be flushed out more, currently they are bandits who hate werewolves. That does not make much sense to me, as bandits want money. I think they should be more like fanatical knights and that would fit the silver swords only thing. (where are the silver maces lol)

I am now glad the 360 gets it first because as PC user I can just sit back and wait for all the none vampire people (like me) to tell me what I am buying. Then I can decide if it has what I want, which unless it is a new land mass(High Rock anyone?) then I doubt it.

While I agree they could have done some other stuff for the first DLC... (lookin at you Snow Elves or even some Thalmor love)
Becoming a vampire in Morrowind, while fun, essentially broke the MQ and the game.... sure you had quests to do for your clan but everyone and i mean EVERYONE was hostile to you.
Skyrim, is known as much for Vamps as it is Were-creatures.
Vamps as they have stood in these past 3 games have been more about RP than anything else so personally it think its about time that they get some fleshing out. And if you dont really care for them...well you can join the Dawnguard and slaughter them all.
It's kind of a win-win. I am personally excited for this DLC. But i get excited for all DLC so......

Not necessarily. What's the incentive for someone who really just isn't interested in vampires one way or another? I don't want to be one, and I feel exactly the same amount of satisfaction killing one as I feel killing a mud crab. What's my incentive to care?

Why do you assume they're catering to what the fans want? Maybe this is what Bethesda wants in their game, ever think of that? I personally would rather have the Volkihar as a DLC rather than them being put in vanilla as generic NPCs and lacking any backstory/flavor to them. Just look at the Vigilants of Stendarr. If Volkihar were in the game since vanilla, it would have been just like the Vigilants. I'm not a vampire fan whatsoever, but I welcome this DLC with open arms. You're also completely forgetting that there will be more DLC, most likely snow elves and thalmor stuff. Who's to say this DLC is only vampire related, anyway? Vampires since MW have been mundane and very very bland, they needed some flavor and this DLC looks to be fleshing them out, and actually giving players a reason to play as them. Despite what you might think of vampires due to media such as Twilight and whatnot, Vampires have been in TES long before that and perhaps the people at Bethesda don't like what our current vampires are like.

I understand that thought process, I really do, and I personally am not one of the OMG Vampire folks I am more looking foward to the story than lame-o flying vampire lords, but perhaps consolidation could be found with the adding of new armors, weapons, spells (maybe) enemies, mounts? (ugh flaming horse IS lame though)
But then again i can understand not wanting to pay 20 bucks for that if you really dont care. Can't always please everyone i suppose.

I wish that the DLC will add more colour and a new setting to the world which makes Tamriel so special (Vvardenfel, the Shivering Isles). But from the look of the trailer we're getting more snow, castles and brown everything. Oh well.

Thanks but when something is obviously an opinion there's no need.
You are magnificent! Post here forever, please.

I don't want to cause a flame war or anything, but with that logic, Skyrim is a game just for dragon fans.

Sure, I get it, not everybody likes vampires. I'm not personally a vampire fan either, but hey, you don't HAVE to be a vampire. I'm going to side with the Dawnguard and kill the vampires.

I agree with many in saying there is an anti-vampire side to the DLC in the Dawnguard themselves. I do think, at this moment, we cannot discount the probable inclusion of some new level of Falmer (snow elf prince file). It'll sure be interesting how, if they are even a major part of the DLC, the snow elves will be incorporated.

I don't think Dawnguard is too angled at a specific playstyle or player. I for one don't see myself ever joining the vampire faction as my characters always fall into a 'good' style of play. With that said I love the idea of a dark vampire clan as an antagonist force for me to struggle against and hopefully overcome.

It' more like telling someone who doesn't like spicy food that salsa has other things in it besides peppers.
To extend the anology, Skyrim as a whole is like a food court with food from different countries. Dragons are only one dish in that food court and this DLC might be something like a hot dog stand that has burgers too.

The Volkair (sp?) breed of vampires is missing from Skyrim. the vamps we have now are from Cyrodill, spread by that one guy in that one cave (didnt want to spoil it). This will add the Volkair, who do not desire prey to be sleeping, but attack while they are awake. Least thats what I get from what i read so far.

The big party of this DLC is that it gives vampires some cool ability's like werewolves/beasts : Joining forces with Harkon allows the Dragonborn to become a Vampire Lord - "the paragon of the species". The transformation process works similar to Lycanthropy and grants access to unique powers. One ability is confirmed as Vampiric Grip which suspends an enemy in the air with telekinesis as their health is drained. Other powers include hovering above the ground and transforming into a cloud of bats. Unlike werewolf transformations, the vampire form can be exited at will.
Dawnguard also introduces two new perk trees: Vampirism and Lycanthropy. Rather than spending points to add perks as in the base game, new perks are gained by killing enemies with the new powers. This approach allows high or maximum level characters to obtain new perks that would otherwise be difficult or impossible.
The Lycanthropy skill tree includes perks such as Animal Vigor, Savage Feeding and one called Totem of the Moon which summons an ally werewolves with in a howl .

Ok you buddy are wrong. This IS what Skyrim needs. Vampires get [censored] on and get a few powers. Now we get a whole story line and a transformation. You werewolves got a transformation and a story line. Where did that fit into Skyrim huh? If this DLC isn't ment for Skyrim, then werewolves aren't ment for Skyrim either. Plus werewolves are even getting perks so stop trying to make Bethesda get rid of our DLC because you don't want vampires to stand a fighting chance now.
