How would it be able to take all endings and actions into consideration and still create a storyline for it?
But I would also like an expansion more than DLC's, but that entire expansion better be lvl 20+ concerning creatures and human equipment.
Simple!
When you have the development time of a full-blown expansion, rather than just a DLC, you can actually afford to dedicate a team to doing things like accounting for each of the player's choices during the original game's main quest. Therefore, in the year and a half or so between now and when we would get it... continuing on after the game would not be so ludicrously impossible.
Why? Because they COULD account for each individual ending... and play it out within the scope of the expansion.
We get to keep our cake... and eat it, too.
People who want to end the game after the final credits roll... they get a satisfying conclusion, just like they did playing through the main quest of New Vegas. People who want to continue playing on afterward, they get a meaningful conclusion as well as a world which resembles the beginning stages of the ending path they chose, and the option to keep playing with it in that state indefinitely.
Believe me... none of us are under the delusion that the world will keep changing -after- the main quest is done and the finale has gone down.
We just don't give a damn! We want to -enjoy- the world we've created... or at -least- be given the option!
Fallout 2 had a damn button. Either you pressed Continue Playing or Return to Menu. If you went back to the menu... the game was done! You win!
If you continued playing, well... you got to experience the world from the point of view of the VICTOR for a change.
Is that so bad, wanting to enjoy the spoils of your hard-earned conquest?
That's how come people get so upset with games like these.
We hate working all that damn time to 'save the world', 'rescue the princess', 'blahblahblah the whatchamajiggit'... only to have the game say 'Let us take it from here' and get all the glory. What do we get?
Ending credits.
Screw that! If I go through all the damn effort to save that damn Princess, you'd better bet it's going to be -me- reaping the reward.
I fight my way up to the castle, kill the corrupt King, and free the nation from his shackles... my ass is taking the THRONE! And I want to -rule- from it, dammit!
Fallout 3 needed Broken Steel because it forgot to take into account the masses of people with this mentality. People who are tired of having all their thunder stolen by the rigid traditionalism of classic RPG's. When Bethesda, a game company known for open-ended gameplay, came out and said: "Oh, by the way... we're going to give it a finite end. So if you want to keep playing, just ignore this part of the quest here" we were all pretty blown away.
Now Obsidian has made the same fatal error... because somehow they think it's ACTUALLY about the ending.
I said it before, and I will re-iterate. I don't give a damn about the ending! I give a damn about REAPING the REWARD of my hard work and sacrifice... and a definite ending on an otherwise supposedly open-world RPG just makes me want to scream and rage and break someone.
Err... something. Break something. Yeah.
Time for bed now.
My mission here is complete.
