DLC idea

A Hole in the Sand

Location: Shady Sands
Size: Large
Locations: 50
Side Quest: 30
Main Quest: 4
Story: While things start to play out over in New Vegas, Shady Sands encounters a problem. The NCR has been attacked by a new threat. The threat had been burrowed away for more then 100 years, but now it awakes. The sand beneath shakes wild like, as a hole forms in the sand. Out comes the most dangerous threat in the waste, Grovers. (Grovers, a large bug that infects people, the persons mind is eaten away at by the young grovers, then taken over. Like a zombie, just not withered down) Wether your in it to save the Republic, or to destroy the Republic... This threat will just expand. First all of shady sands, then across to New Vegas, eventually all over the country. You must stop it were it starts.

Side Quest will include towns that have been infested, and need clearing - Destroying entire hives

Main Quest will include a meeting with the NCR council - Blowing up the original hive, located under Shady Sands, inside the hole.

Shady Sands isn't Shady Sands anymore. It's NCR headquarters. I don't know that just doesn't sound right.

And lastly, for console users, a limited GECK tool to use for making mods that can be traded on console. I aint talking a full fledged GECK. Just something that lets console users make mods using existing art and models. Other games on console allow for limited modding, One even lets you trade mods with other users.

I like the sound of that, considering im a console owner.... but..... the reason games like Halo, LBP, MNR, and FarCry have editors is cause their games are ment for creators. Halo would fail hardcoe without creation, LBP is all about customization and making fun small games, MNR is about making tracks and racing them, FarCry just added it cause they thought it would be cool... and it is. But fallout doing this is not even possible for consoles at the time, the only way they can do this is to make another disk with everything they used on it, then make an easy editor to add to the game. When you make it you would have to download it to the actual game.

This may be so, but its talking about the surrounding area too, not just shady sands. I just used that as a refrence.

I dont know what would be involved in making a console version of the GECK but I cant imagine it would be any tougher then making a PC game playable on a console.

My idea is it would be a DLC. Meaning you would pay money or MS points for it. So if it was something like 800 MS points on Xbox and $15 on PSN then you are actually making money from it. One article said Fallout New Vegas sold 10 million copies. I dont know how many were console versus PC. But I can imagine if just 10% of the console users bought the console version of the GECK at $15 a pop, then its possible we are talking a profit in the millions of dollars. Bethesda and Obsidian are corporations out to make money. Well there is your reason for at least trying to make a console version of the GECK. And if they made one usable with Fallout 3 as well. Then that is just win/win all around.

Again I want to stress I am not talking a fully functioning GECK just like the PC version. I mean a limited version that would let you make your own quests and content using the existing database. The only real issue I can see is typing text for missions. Would take hours unless you used a keyboard or the little attachment you can get for the controller. But I would gladly fork over the money for the little text pad if I could get my hands on a console GECK.

I would love to see:

That guy you save in Goodsprings, who turns up at the Crimson Caravan later. Forget his name. He says he his heading up north to Utah (?) to open a new branch of the Caravan. That would be a fantastic little DLC, travelling with him, protecting his caravan (like you did with the Slaves in FO3), then arriving at a town where things are not as they seem - and you have to sort it out so he can set up his caravan station.

Simple or as complex as the devs want to make it, but it would be an interesting closure to that story.

DLC: Escape to the Highlands

Your Leader be it Caesar, The Ncr, Mr House, or yes man will tell you of a very strong artifact in The Highlands of Scotland.
Your Journey Begins...
You travel with a group of your Factions soldiers to see if you can find out what this strong artifact is. You Travel To Edinburgh On a Recovered Vertibird. A man tells you that a war is going on. The War is between the lowlanders of Scotland and England with their later technology but there are fewer of them as Bombs have decimated their area. They Seek to get out of the Wasteland and into the Highlands which are free of Radiation and mutation
The opposition blocking them is a group of Tribal like highland clans who have banded together in order to keep them out in fear of them being populated by mutants and ghouls and such. The Highlanders worship the extremely strong artifact but nobody except the clan leaders and their High Priest can See the artifact.

You Will Have to chose whether to take a side, Resolve it Peacefully or you can take your soldiers and carve a bloody path to this artifact.

The Dlc would be Fairly Large about hopefully 1/3 or 1/2 the size of the map ( probably smaller) and you would be able to explore the Highlands and the Lowland Wasteland in order to find Scottish treasure or Technology that is not in the United states that can be found in the ruined lowland cities.

There would be a new companion for which side you take.
The Highland Companion Daniel "Mac" MacTavish would be strong swordsman type companion with his Great Highland Claymore he would be able to crush through the strongest enemy with his rager type fighting.

The Lowland Companion Anabelle Forsyth is a Scottish Doctor Who would be good with medicine and Over the years has learned how and energy pistol would work

Other things: Energy Pistols would actually work in this game. All of the Energy and demolition type weapons would be improved and be more readily available, You could travel back and forth for a small fee, you could bring back your companions I dont know how traveling back and forth would work unless they add a broken steel type dlc which i think they said the wouldn't.,

Could we have the Big Guns skill back in one of the DLC's?
I mean, I know it was removed and it's weapons distributed among the other ranged combat skills but hear me out.
If you specialize in Energy Weapons you will be able to use Incinerator, Plasma Caster, Flamer and Gatling Laser to perfection.
On the other hand, you cannot use Minigun, Missile Launcher, Grenade Machine Gun or Fatman very well.
But.
If you specialize in Big Guns you can use all big guns to their perfection but all rifles, shotguns, pistols etc will stick to their skills.
I dunno why but I would just really like this skill back.
So I can either specialize in Explosives and be an AOE god, or Guns and be a all around firearms expert or Energy Weapons and be the critical master OR I can specialize in Big Guns and be great as hell with all larger weapons.

Another thing I would want to have is Throwing skill back.
Throwing skill includes all throwing weapons like spears, hatchets, knifes, grenades and dynamite sticks.
This is also a combo skill just like how Big Guns is.
But they'd need to add more throwing weapons into shops' inventory lists.

I'm dead serious about both of 'em.
It could work and it could work very well with both of them and I frankly see no reason as to why they shouldn't do this if they can.

Anyway, the lists would be:
Throwing
  • Throwing spear
  • Throwing hatchet
  • Throwing knife
  • Pulse grenade
  • Frag grenade
  • Plasma grenade
  • Dynamite
  • Long-fuse dynamite
  • Incindiary grenade
  • Holy hand grenade

Big Guns
  • Gatling Laser
  • Fatman
  • Missile Launcher
  • Grenade Machine Gun
  • Tesla Cannon
  • Flamer
  • Incinerator
  • Heavy Incinerator
  • Plasma Caster
  • Light Machine Gun
  • Minigun

I think it would really add to replayability to have these two back.
Of course we'd need some more perks for these skills in the leveled lists.

Ive read several posts and forums and ive heard alot of people say they like the idea of having another DLC in space. I have to admit, Mothership Zeta was really fun, but they couldve pushed it even further. Bethesda could make one that left you saying,"Bravo Bethesda. That was epic."
Don't you agree that there should be another journey into space? What would be some good ideas.

-Moonbase This was an idea i had heard from someone in a forum, but its a good idea so ill help him out. Imagine your character finding a launch pad with a group of people that have been sending out a message asking for help. They say they've had weird signals that are coming from our moon. It almost sounds like someones trying to reach us. But how could someone still be alive on the moon after 200 years? That's where you come in. well, you and about 4 other people. You're asked to go to the moon base and investigate. Unlike the other DLCs, (whenever you travel the screen goes dark and it comes back when you're at your destination) You'll be able to experience the entire take-off and docking with the moon base. You and your team set up in a small room when you come into the base. It's here where you'll come up with a plan and find out whats going on. As you explore the base, you start to wonder if you're alone. Maybe you are...maybe someone with you knows more about the base than they let on. Maybe there's some terrifying new alien that can't be killed and it keeps pursuing you no matter what. This mission can take several different turns from your entire squad dying to the entire squad living. And anywhere in between. Imagine you and one more member being the only survivors as you fight to the airlock and get your suits on. You both hop into a land rover as the doors open wide, revealing the beautiful but empty surface of the moon. You have plenty of space to drive around quite a bit and enjoy the scenery. There are two moon outposts and one natural cave that might not be that natural. Two new songs should be added to add a more otherworldly feel to this impressive DLC.

-The Day The Sky Fell This is an idea i came up with. A message goes across the world. Every city, settlement, and lonely radio starts broadcasting a message...one that never ends until the missions done. It says that we received footage from one of our old probes in space that an army of alien ships were coming. They needed help. Help from soldiers, from scientists, from doctors, and from the whole world. Every known rocket, ship, and space involved technology has been brought to the organization that started this message. The world is united for one brief moment in this DLC. join a crew of multiple ships and rank up as you go along. Maybe by the end of the mission you'll have your own ship, depending on the choices you made. Take full control of your ship and change the tides of battle in the epic and intense finale that will leave you speechless and covered in goosebumps.

Sunshine- This is more of an opinion than anything. Have you ever seen the movie sunshine? Group of eight people get in a ship called Icarus 2 in an attempt to restart the dying sun. They soon encounter problems when they pick up transmissions from the Icarus 1, the first ship to try and restart the sun, but they failed. Things happen throughout the movie that get people killed, like fixing a panel on the outside and getting hit with a flare, freezing to death in a tank of coolant while trying to fix the mainframe, committing suicide in a room that creates beautiful scenery from earth so you don't get space madness, and the crazy captain of Icarus 1 who's survived for seven years by himself until those metal doors to his ship creaked open. The difference between most sci-fi movies and sunshine is that most movies have an idiot who makes a bad decision and everyone dies. In this movie, everyone's smart, selfless, and logical. Every choice and decision they make they have a sound argument behind it. When it comes down to someone having to sacrifice themselves, they do it without hesitation, for the sake of the world. Which is why I think this could be a good idea. Maybe not exactly like sunshine cause fallout needs to have its own element to it, but the main story is good. They fly into the surface of the sun with a nuke the size of Manhattan and ignite it. In the end, one member is left and caught in between a nuclear explosion and the surface of the sun. Between the magnets, electrical force, matter, and whatever the hell else they said, time stops for just a few moments and the crew member is able to spend his last remaining moment staring at the beautiful twisting morphing fire and blue nuclear matter. This scene was so beautiful it touched me. Imagine being able to play the same kind of story but with your character. Teamed up with the perfect team as you head towards the sun and who knows, maybe in the end you'll take a selfless road and manually activate the bomb, ending your life the way it happens in the movie. Truly an epic ending for the greatest hero ever-You. But, then again you mightv'e had someone else take your place and you watch from a safe distance as the nuke goes off, brightening the sun and filling your screen with a bright light. You took the selfish road and you're now heading home. Hopefully someone else survived because its a long trip home.

-Ocean Nebula This one would be kind of like point lookout. A big place to run around in and do whatever you wanted instead of sticking to a main story. In this one you find a device that's fallen to earth. When you activate it, you teleport halfway across the galaxy into the Ocean Nebula, a beautiful blue hazy nebula. You find yourself on a space station. This is your fallback area, your home if you will. It's occupied by some types of robots youve never seen before. They tell you what you found was a MARK AND RECALL probe. expensive devices that can be planted anywhere you want an instantly teleport to that exact location. You team up with these robots to build your own ship from scratch and then head out into the nebula. You can fly around wherever you want and do the alien missions as you please and in any order.

So I think these would be fun. Which one of these sounds the best? And what are your ideas?

Moonbase, heh, Dead Space.

The Day The Sky Fell, I'd rather not have aliens be portrayed as "omygoshevil!". I hope they add a DLC in FO4 or in the main game which explains why Zeta's aliens did what they did and have some grayness to it. But an army of aliens coming? Nah man. We don't need another black and white evil.

Ocean Nebula, I think someone is a little too interested in the space theme. seriously though I have no problems with a moon DLC or even a mars DLC as long as it has the aliens from Zeta and a good storyline. But teleportation across the galaxy is just a bit too much imo.

Oh, and in one of the DLC's add a perk to the leveled list which allows me to bring another companion into my party.
And maybe have it be two ranks so I can have Rex or ED-E and then 3 human followers.

You're on a console, yes? I'm afraid your hardware won't really allow for that without some serious performance issues. I remember Sawyer posted about it on SA. The reason there's a two companion limit is because of console hardware limitations, particularly a lack of memory. I guess fully fledged companions are rather memory intensive.

I dont know what would be involved in making a console version of the GECK but I cant imagine it would be any tougher then making a PC game playable on a console.

It may seem that way to a layman, but it's not the case. The GECK is reliant upon the windows platform, upon certain files and libraries that only Windows has. That's why it won't run on Mac or Linux either. Furthermore, the GECK is a systems resource hog. When I make a mod, I routinely find the GECK devouring more than a gigabyte of memory just to open everything I need to make even the simplest of plugins.

This is a problem for consoles. The Xbox 360, for instance has 512 megabytes of memory, with this memory being shared between the system and the graphics chip.

And then there's the legal issues. Tech support. Microsoft wanting to keep their platform closed.

Any sort of "GECK" for consoles would end up being a GECK in name only. Maybe you'd be able to change weapon names and construct simple maps ala Halo's Forge, but any of the stuff that makes mods on the PC great is pretty well impossible for a number of reasons. Quests are right out because of scripting and the inability to do so on a console. Major game changes are too.

Anyway, I still want some Burned Man DLC. And a DLC that has more legion quests, to counterbalance the 30ish you get with the NCR.

You might be able to get an option to have two of any kind of companion though, like two humans or two nonhumans. It depends on if the various companions take up significantly more system resources when hired. I dunno.

Mind, I'mma thinking that both Boone and Veronica would be pretty overpowered. :P

Den of Thieves

Location: Lake Havasu City

Story: It has been another day in the good ol' desert. As you wander into an old abandon building, that you heard radio waves coming from, you see a women crying near the radio. After asking what is wrong she tells you that, the radio station is not working, but worse, her son has been kidnapped. She shows you the room he slept in... now its up to you to examine the place. After finding a piece of paper on the ground you read it. It will say somthing about a slaving camp down the colrado river. It is called Lake Havasu City. Will you rescue her son? Will you destroy the slavers? Will you claim the land for your faction? Will you be a slaver? (This DLC would add in a full slavery way of playing, you can buy and sell slaves, you can capture more slaves, or you can prevent the capture of people. You can make them, if you have the materials, even counterfit caps. Counterfiting caps takes one week, game time, everytime, and gets you 2000 counterfit caps, wich can be used as real caps.)

Descripition: The DLC would be like The Pitt, but a diffrent environment. The place is not a steel mill, but they have enslaved children, women, and men. The children are used to plow fields, wash clothes, and make food. They are poorly treated. The Men are used to bait animals, to plow fields, and to do the dirty work. The women, are treated the worst. They are forced to do prostitution, they are beaten if they don't. They are hooked on drugs, and are only allowed one meal a day.

Location Description: The city was hit, but the slavers have restored most buildings, they are having problems with some critters to the south of the city, near Tompson Bay. A creature, never seen before in all the fallout games rises from the bay. The creature is a furocious being, distorted in many ways. Its face is that of a squid, but covered in moss and seaweed. Its body, scales streak up and down while, tentaciles hang from there body, tasting whatever they can. (Like a second mouth)

I would like to see them expand the game out west to show more how the legion rules its people.

that would be a good expansion and could tap into the lore and canon left over from the original unpublished FO3 which would be fun to play in the new engine rather than the old broken version of Van Buren...

That its running on windows could be the reason its a resource hog. I cant count how many programs, games, etc I have found had huge system requirements yet once I got them running on Linux the system requirements were much much less and they didnt use a ton of resources. And except for some people getting a few errors, you could run Fallout 3 and its GECK on linux with wine. So it is possible to get it going on other operating systems.

But again I have to stress once more. I am not talking a full fledged GECK with all the bells and whistles. Even if it did just let us construct maps using the existing New Vegas library and change some things, it would be a dang sight better Fallout editor then the Fallout editor we have now on the console. Which is nothing.....

No, that it has to access a ton of files is the reason it's a resource hog. Seriously. If it were practical to have a console GECK, Bethesda would have done it for FO3. Your idea isn't new. There's lots of half-baked "Oh gee, I just want a nerfed GECK to have any editor at all" posts out there, so Beth's aware of the desire, but they still haven't made any such program.

You can run the GECK on linux with a windows emulator. That should tell you all you need to know.

Also, more trees and thrown weapons.

the problem with ANY dlc, as I see it, is that is HAS to be integrated into the final slideshow (unless it is a post-final dlc, like Broken Steel).

So if there was a dlc like The Pitt, for example: I would be well gutted if I did a big side-adventure like that, and then got to the end and it wasn't even mentioned. Stuff like Ancorage, Point Lookout, Zeta, well there is little point in following up on those. But a major quest, that has real wasteland consequences, needs a section in the end show.

I love the idea of a new scene OUTSIDE of the US. I'd love to see what the UK, Germany, Russia, or Israel looks like Post-War.

I'm sorry but no. Fallout and everything about it is American centric. If they move the setting to Canada or France it wouldn't be Fallout anymore.

Here are two DLC ideas I came up with for Fallout: New Vegas, I do not know if they are any good, but I will let you guys be the judge of it.

1. The New Tast of Nuka-Cola: This DLC would have the player receive an odd radio signal that sounds like a new radio ad for Nuka-Cola. This would have the player following where the signal is coming from, only to find an official Vault that was made for the Nuka-Cola company just before the bombs fell in 2077. The people who live in this Vault do nothing but make Nuka-Cola all day and live by the Nuka-Cola family life style. When the player enters this Vault, he or she is given a quest on what new type of Nuka-Cola should be made (the Vault already makes the Classic, Cherry, Quantum, Victory, Quarts, & Clear versions of Nuka-Cola), and then has to decide on what they shold do with it (either sell it to the outside world, or keep it to themselves). I am sure that there would be allot more to this quest then just decideing on what the new Nuka-Cola should be, but this is the only thing I can think of right now for this idea.

2. Waistlands Heroes: This would be a bigger verion of "The Superhuman Gambit" quest that was seen in Fallout 3. In this DLC, the player takes an old, but still working train to a large Metropolis-style city were the people live in fear of two groups of Super-Humans fighting over the city (one group being Super Heroes, and the other being Super Villains). The people then ask the player to get rid of the Super-Humans. At this point, the player can either help the people get rid of the Super-Humans (kill them all, or make then move out), join the Heroes in "Proteoting" the city, or join the Villains to kill the Heroes and take over the city.

So, what do you guys think?

DLC that lets you play after you complete the main chain quest would be nice.
