Doctor Who Thread!

I love Doctor Who my favorite Dr. is:

1: David Tennet.

2: Sylvester McCoy.

3: Tom Baker.

4: Patrick Troughton (Tomb of the Cyberman and The Five Doctors---there the only ones I've seen him in).

5: Jon Pertwee (The Five Doctors).

6: Matt Smith ( I like his version of the Doctor, seems to be a mix of Tennet's and McCoy's Doctors).

Same, just replace Matt Smith with Peter Davison. I based how good the doctor is on sotries and their portrayal. And i have to say, resurrection of the daleks and earthshock were one of the best.

Ahhh i got rice krispies stuck to my face!!! That bit in resurrection of the daleks makes me laugh, but i wouldnt touch cereal for weeks when i watched it as a kid.

Erm, eight I think. Most of the old fans loved him from the first ten seconds, and even the new ones eem to be getting over Tennant. Though there's still a lot of hate aimed at the new daleks for some reason.

I thought he seemed too young at first, I'd prefer a more "distinguished" Doctor, but that passed shortly into the 11th Hour.

Still, here is to hoping the next Doctor is an old fogie.

I like the White new Dalek the most, and the Yellow one the least. I don't hate the new daleks so much as hate that it makes me think of some psychedelic hippie dalek with the multi-color thing going on (just need a lime green one and a light maroon one) :P

Don't doctors only get 11 generations? Or was I told wrong?

I miss David Tennant... :(

On a side note, the new sonic screwdriver looks awesome.

When he was first announced I was all "AAGHH ITS AN EMO TEN YEAR OLD!"

But then when I saw him acting, he knew how the play the eccentric alien. He can seem old even when looking young. Much the same way John Pertwee could seem young while looking old.

Is it bad that I dreamt I was an assistant to the 11th Doctor in one of those mashup ones with the 3rd Doctor? It was totally geeky and not in any way homoerotic, I swear.

My thoughts were "Ahhh!!!! They are trying to sell out like SGU did!!!!" And then, like you, I saw him acting and thought it good. I am most fond of The Beast Below so far for an entire episode, but my favorite individual scenes come from the first episode When he eats all the types of food, also when he tells the aliens to run after the collage of Doctors gone by

I haven't seen Flesh and Stone or The Vampires of Venice yet (finals got in the way), and Amy's Choice doesn't air until June here IIRC :(

I really hated the beast below. It really did nothing for me. Flesh and Stone was good, Venice was a bit boring and Amy's Choice is actually my favourite so far. It reminded me of those old "run away from the shambling monster" ones that Perwtee did.

It was between The Beat Below and Victory of the Daleks. While I did enjoy Victory of the Daleks, I prefered the premise of The Beast Below. The Eleventh Hour had its individual moments, but the story for the episode wasn't that good IMO, and I can't really say The Time of Angels is good considering I HAVE BEEN LEFT ON A BLOODY CLIFFHANGER FOR ALMOST THREE WEEKS NOW >: | (Of course, that is my fault since I decided to foolishly study instead of doing what is important like keep up on the latest Doctor Who episodes)

Good to hear that I got some stuff to look forward too.

13 regenerations. The Doctor's on his third to last one. I wonder how they'll do the 13th Doctor.

Really? Most people I know are like "David Tennant we miss you" in a sort of borg type manner, I like him thought; I've been watching some of the second doctors episodes (mainly the Cybermen episodes) and the 11th Doctor seems loads like the 2nd doctor

I do recall hearing something along the lines that it may not actually be fixed, but just something the time lords decided on, and that a "renegade" time lord may be able to regenerate more times if they choose not to follow that rule.

Of course I could be completely off base and just have been the ramblings of some guy that I am recalling.

Of course in the end some way of going over the limit will probably be forced into the story if it is deemed profitable (and it probably will)

The Master must be on his 15th regeneration now (even thoguh theres only been five masters on screen). In the Tom Baker The deadly assasin we see a master who has used up all who his regenerations, and later on in Keeper of Traken takes Tremas's body and sorta gives himself more regenrations i think. He was in the Tremas incarnation right up untl the end of classic Dr Who, and became Derek Jacoby for two and half minutes in Utopia, and then the brilliant John Simm.

ANd dont forget that the Valeyard was said to be from the Doctors Final Regeneration, one where he is really evil, he could be out there :ninja:

Why does everyone I know hate the new daleks. Im glad nobody here hates them, i like the old ones, but these ones are going back to the good ol days of the movies with peter cushing.

At least these ones don't fire steam. COME BACK HERE! I SHALL SCALD YOU!

It is said that during the time war, the Timelords just kept bringing back dead timelords out of the cruciform matrix to fight. So who knows, it has been said that the Doctor was given an extra 13. Failing that, maybe he'll absorb Billie piper and use her body to fly around Tremas-style.

 Then we 'll know Dr Who has officially run out of ideas.

I hope this "thing" in teh pandorica, i either a dalek, time lord, or maybe the cyberman we see in the preview? Who knows, i speculated that a cyberman is the worst threat in the universe, becaue if it wants to go back to the parallel world, then the universe will asplode or something. I hope its the doctors dark side or the valeyard again. Amy's Choice is the best episode ever, and the old people were amazing. They should have given them a flamethrower :flamethrower: :bolt:

Isn't that all regeneration is? Healing? He linked onto his hand so he could have the same appearance. Anyway, we'll see how the writers deal with the whole thing in a few years.

I'm glad someone agrees. My brother watched it and said it was crap, but I really liked it when I saw it on IPlayer. The Doctor should do more things lik drive round and rescue people with a camper van.

I also found this on the Wiki, thought it was quite cool.

The first time "Susan" and her grandfather encountered Humans was on the planet Iwa. Immediately after landing, the duo became separated. In his search for Susan, the Doctor encountered a Human medical colony. The principal work of the facility, called "the Refuge", was to rehabilitate patients identified as "Future Deviants". By providing dream therapy, it was hoped that such individuals would not become criminals. The Doctor quickly learned that the residents were besieged by aliens with a fox-like shape who could disintegrate and reconstitute their bodies. Taking him inside their compound, they stripped him of his clothes and burned them, citing possible contamination by the foxes. They gave him new clothes drawn from their own supply — which meant that he was now wearing the uniform of a doctor. When they assumed that he was sent by Earth to help them, he agreed with them and, anxious not to give them his real name, referenced the clothes he was then wearing to derive a title: "the Doctor".

Heh, thats kinda cool, does that actually have proof that its true? I also believe that the Time Lord once interfered with the universe, and thus created the human race, which cna be a cheap way of saying why they look human. The Doctor found out about us, escaped and liked us ever since. I guess thats whats good about Dr Who, they tell half the story and you just make up your own ideas in the other half.
Like when they used ye olde computers the size of walls with video tape in the old episodes, i dont bleieve that was because they thought it looked futuristic, but because they hated microsoft so bad they switched to better methods.

Does anybody notice Moffat falling into the same trap that Davies did of "wand-waving solutions" at the end of his episodes? Basically Moffat is introducing random plot elements that we had no knowledge of before to end the episode. It's an ending, but it's too easy of an ending.

What?! Did he say what he didn't like about it? Amy's Choice was basically the "Blink" of series 5.

Ah, but those big computers are probably quantum supercomputers. And those reel to reel tapes are steel-tape holodrives, many trillions of petabytes in size.

Of course, the real reason they had reel to reel tapes was because nobody would recognise it as a computer otherwise. There was even one where these computerised tanks went on the roam, and their tape drive was mounted on the outside of their casing. :P

Though in Logopolis, the 4th Doctor did say that the Logopolitans used bubble memory because more modern computers interfered with the block transfer computations.
