Dr. Who to me is Tom Baker

It's when I watched it often. Haven't really watched in a while so I'm sure there's been some good doctors....but when I hear Dr Who I think Tom Baker, period.

That's funny, I think of John Pertwee fighting Autons.

The Three Doctors was very good, shame Hartnell was not well enough to really participate then, but having Two and Three argue and play off each other was really hilarious, especially where Two keeps aggravating Omega into nearly killing him and Three keeps telling him not to speak. It shows how embarrassed the Doctor gets with what he used to be like.

Watching 2 and 3 was wonderful. While I enjoyed The Five Doctors it was more for the indulgence in nostalgia rather than the story. With four Doctors and a gaggle of companions there were just too many people to make the episode work - whereas The Three Doctors gave us a great dynamic.

If they do a multi-doctor episode I think they should stick to the new Doctors. It's not that I wouldn't love to see some of the original ones but I don't think their return would be as fun as it ought to be - and with the Time War time locked there's a good explanation for keeping them separate. Yes I know about the Ten and Five match up (although I unfortunately haven't seen it) but that's also a short rather than a full episode.

meh 7 was ok :snoring:
Peter Davidson is better though, he liked cricket :hehe:

Peter Davidson is wonderful as Campion but I didn't like him much as a Doctor. His run wasn't too bad though, the Turlough story arc was great, and several of his other episodes were well done - like The Caves of Androzani. The Sixth Doctor . . . he just didn't work for me.

Idea for TES 5, The 6th doctor takes over Tamriel from a really good Emperor and nobody likes him because he's annoying and obnoxious. You have been chosen by the Nine to stop this evil and close shut the Doors of the TARDIS!!

You're probably right, seeing nine's reaction to ten would be worth it. " am I some pri'y boy 'n a suit?"

I can picture ten gushing over eleven's bow-tie-and-suspenders combo then shamelessly flirting with Amy (assuming she's still with 11 by then). Ten might also try rubbing Nine's near-bald head while making a faux-grumpy face.

Personally, it would be great to see Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred along with Chris Eccleston teaming up with Matt Smith for a new 3 Doctors special. I really do not want to see Tennant back....I know that he helped keep the Dr. Who torch lit, but honestly though he may be a fairly decent actor, I never cared for his interpretation. He definitely, has to be one of my least favorite Doctors since the 5th Doctor.

I dislike Turns-the-page's dislike of DT, he's probably my favourite actor at the moment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHyjRnoIYZM

All the Doctors are great portrayers of the time lord. Its the stories that make them. I liked DT's stories, and think that Russel T Davies created some good ones, but then there were episodes like Daleks in Manhatten and Midnight. Matt Smith is awesome aswell, but the stories (apart from Amy's choice) havent been good imo. Mccoy was the coolest, but the stories were the same, first he gives the enemy what they want and pretend they won, and then he destroys all of them, its the same for a number of episodes.

Oh and the new silurians are distant cousins of the originals, a reader of DW monthy, i read that they are more human. And there was an interview in the TV choice that the indian woman in charge has a silurian love interest, i think. *Reads article again to make sure he wasnt hallucinating*.

Oh and like the new avatar, i thoguh i would keep up with the fashion on this thread :)

I never understood why there's such an affection for the 5th Doctor, but an extreme dislike for the 6th. I always found the 6th portrayal to be much more in line with the Doctor as being the somewhat distant alien that he is.

It was the way he was written, coupled with that terrible guady costume. It wasn't Baker's fault, he tried to inject some compassion into the act, but the scripts and the hateful producers were against him.

Honestly, the Doctor's multicolored fashion disaster of course can be chalked up to it just being the 80's, though on a deeper level it helped to bring the Doctor somewhat back to his aliens roots(after all, why should aliens have the same fashion standards as 20th Century Humans?).

Also, when it came to Baker's more violent portrayal of the Doctor, it actually fit quite well with television/film of the decade, which was notoriously violent. Overall, I don't think that Baker got a fair go as being the 6th Doctor, and though I very much enjoyed Sylvester McCoy's run, I think that had Colin Baker had a companion like Ace or someone a bit more substantial I truly believe that he could have had a more memorable run.

So whatever happened to Sgt. Benton? He just seemed to have disappeared not long after Jon Pertwee left and there was never any mention of him since(even the Brigadier got a mention in the new series).

He got promoted to Warrant Officer Benton at the start of Tom Baker's era, and I believe he did occasionally return in the Baker era, and once in McCoy's.

Amy''s choice was actually my favourite of this series so far. Seemed like interesting psychological drama to me, which in RTD's time meant "Companion is gagging for timelord [censored]"

The villain in the story was a bit of a disappointment, my dad said that there was this entity that the fourth doctor fought that hated him a lot. I thought it might have been the toymaker though

His demeanor reminded me of the meddling monk, but he was hardly the person who hated the doctor most. Turned out it was himself.

He's not thinking of the Black Guardian is he?

I thought he might've been the dude that Two encountered in The Land of Fiction from The Mind Robber. Or the Master. But of course that would've been way too fast in bringing him back.

Wasn't it the Valeyard that supposedly hated the Doctor more than anyone else.....and it turns out that the Valeyard might be a future incarnation of the Doctor?

From Wikipedia:
The Valeyard (generally pronounced "Va-lee-yard" although there are a few instances of "Val-yard") is a fictional character from the long-running British science fiction television series, Doctor Who. He is described as an aspect of the Doctor from between his twelfth and final incarnation (in the TV show) or regenerations (in the novelization of the story). In the serial The Trial of a Time Lord, comprising the whole of Season 23 of the series, the Time Lords appoint the Valeyard as prosecutor at the Sixth Doctor's trial, hoping to have him executed - thereby removing the sole witness to their near-destruction of life on Earth.

This more or less ties up with what we know of the Dreamlord. He is the Doctor (on some level), based on the darker elements of him, just a generation too early... Is this a clue to the end of series enemy?

I think this season has on the whole been better than any of RTD's. The only ep I havent liked is Vampires of Venice, and Moffat can clearly write a cliffhanger...
