Dragon Attacks are the most annoying and frustrating feature

Some posts have been wished into the cornfield. If you can't find a way to disagree that isn't rude and uncivilized, then you're probably going to best off not responding at all.

Just because it's part of a story line, doesn't mean people shouldn't complain about it.

Just because it's part of the story line, doesn't mean you SHOULD complain about it. He's right, deal with it. Because complaining doesn't make dragons go away. (unless it does, in which case just try that then there won't be anything to complain about)

There have always been annoying things attached to the story line. Morrowind had ash zombies that would appear when you slept, Oblivion has Oblivion gates and Skyrim has dragons.

I would much rather have dragons over Oblivion gates. I once had two Oblivion gates open up right next to each other.

What I don't get is why those dumbasses don't just continually circle and breathe their elemental crap from the sky. Don't they realize that when they land is when they die? Also, I see them swoop and pick people up in their mouths constantly, why don't they just do this to you? Then you'd REALLY hate them. If you ask me, they made dragons with people like you in mind as well. They aren't hard by any means, and their attacks are less than frequent in my book. There are times when I'm taking a hike to a new destination, and i come across a huge open space thinking I should definitely see a dragon by now, yet none want to die. I love the dragon aspect. My only beef is the repetitiveness of fights. I love when I get caught in a new situation with one.

Dragons can grab you and shake you. It's just their killing blow. You're dead if it happens.

just dont do the main quest.

Same here. After my first character, I avoided it and found the lack of dragons very refreshing. It brings certain calm to the game.

Here's the thing:

Dragons are often weaker than other enemies you can encounter at the same level, and dragons are very numerous.

If they were the opposite of both of those things they would be much more tolerable. It's not a dragon "invasion" it's a handful of dragons that single the dragonborn out as their only target. Villages go unburned, and cities rarely get attacked at all. As soon as you're wandering around though, boom, dragons show up. That's why they're annoying, at least to me.

I forgot the requirements for enemies to get killing blows.. happens from time to time though. I once fought a dragon so difficult he grabbed and ripped apart three soldiers and then did it to me. Up the difficulty, I guess. It'll happen.

Haha, so it sounds like you guys are coinciding a video game which is about fun and real life which contains hardships. What you guys are saying is that in a video game, even if something is truly annoying, if it's part of the 'story line' then you should deal with it.

No, this is a game, I shouldn't have to "deal with it". I shouldn't have to deal with something that is truly annoying and MOST people agree with. Just because it's part of a story line, doesn't mean people shouldn't complain about it.

Dragon attacks are a necessary part of the game. The story is about Dragons returning. If there was no dragon attacks then people like you would complain how the game feels empty or something. Theyre there to loot, absorb souls, and add a little diversity for when youre running through plains for 15 mins or fast traveling to that same town for the 10th time. I for one like dragon attacks. When a game attempts to simulate a medieval-style world full of surprises and numerous tasks, you have to expect not everything can go your way and face the enemies you want to specifically face by just seeking them out. Its better that some things seek you out, which adds some immersion in exchange for sometimes slight annoyance. Dont like it? Try the Fable series or Dragon Age or something

Skyrim is about dragons.

There should be dragons.

The frequency varies from player to player.

It is a key feature of Skyrim and makes very little sense to get rid of them.

Be like playing Oblivion with only 1 Gate... and that would just be (insert expletive).

Your beef is with the narrative, not necessarily Skyrim.

Ancient Dragons will often do just that, never land and just strafe you. Very hard to deal with without good cover.

It's only become so annoying because it happens so often and is of so little significance. Yay, another dragon soul to stockpile and some gold. Dragon fights should be fewer, more difficult, and more rewarding.

Otherwise they are just flying bears.

Well, dragon attacks in general don't annoy me.What does annoy me is their incredibly short attention span.I'd be in the middle of an epic battle with a dragon and all of a sudden he decides to go torch some mud crabs instead of dealing with the ultimate threat to his entire race's existence. And if the dragon keeps doing this I'll have to chase him for several miles, makes me feel like a caveman trying to kill a pterodactyl with a club.

I want logical behavior.

A dragon circling me for miles and then just flying off doesn't really feel like a dragon to me. Just simply landing on a rooftop, sitting there, and then flying off also does not feel dragon like.

I literally one time was passing through a smaller town and the dragon landed, looked at me then flew away. It didn't even roar.
Dragons have concentration problems they also tend to hit and then circle before coming back. If they find another target while circling it will usually attack it and might even move on again.
And the circling attacks makes them harder to hit so the attack pattern makes sense, dragon might not know that you heal up while it away :)
As for runing away, I do that to if loots of people shoot arrows at me :)
But yes it's annoying then the dragon runs away with 10% health but I have killed many who was busy fighting beers.

As for dragons attacking towns, save before fast traveling.

It's a dragon. They can do pretty much whatever the fk they want. And so that's how they act. Sometimes they don't see you as anything more than a pissant and ignore you. Other times, he's just not in the mood to get your blood on his talons. I don't really know, and neither do you. Who's gonna tell him how he should act? If you don't like it, go bust him in the mouth and see how he acts then.

I actually think the dragons weren't made hostile and threatening enough in the gameplay and story. I mean, face it, they are supposed to be an intelligent race right? So why don't their leaders, if they even have any besides Alduin and Odahviing, ever go around leading large scale attacks on the province?

Having cities invaded by named dragon commanders, draugr, dragon priests, and lesser dragons that we have to fight back, or they capture the location. Basically turn it into a chaotic three way battle for location dominance between the imperials, dragons, and stormcloaks.

Logical does not compute in a video game, that's part of your problem there. Dragons in TES lore are intelligent beings. Not stupid brutes that only know how to kill. Maybe that dragon that was circling you was a scout getting intel for a larger dragon attack.

...And you think that's not logical? You are the Dragonborn. Every dragon knows this. Why would a dragon try to attack a being created to kill dragons? The odd thing is that weak dragons will still attack you when you are vastly superior to them.

On my second character im not using map fast travel, just walking, riding and carriage. I seem to have come across much less dragons this way... unless its been altered by a patch or something.

The worst thing about dragons is that you meet them too often. I think the dragons should be something special but with all the random attacks, the dragon shelters and the resurrection places during the main quest they become annoying after a while.

the most annoying thing is they frequently fly away and attack random targets and I have to run after them, why dont they jsut attack me, I'm the dragonborn, not the random wolf or spider or whatever.

There is somewhat of a valid point however, especially with all the bugs that have been happening with dragons.

I have had dragons circle me for miles and do nothing. I've also had them drop into the middle of a city, look around and then fly off with no follow up.

Some aspects of the dragons are bugged, which make them annoying and sometimes frustrating.

I find it hilarious that this is considered a bug, which it probably is. Why? Because those behaviors seem way more realistic than every dragon just attacking everything it sees. It pissed me off at first. But now dragons are starting to attack on a more frequent basis again, while there are still so many that just fly around enjoying the view. Seems more realistic to me.

At higher levels where everything is easy to kill, encountering a dragon = frustration. I find it a waste of time and tend to avoid them. They spawn too much in the later levels. I believe dragons should only spawn at the dragon spawning points(dragon head icon on map). But i do love the backwards dragon.
