Dragon Attacks are the most annoying and frustrating feature

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 2:10 am

EDIT: First off I'm not a complainer. THis is the first thread I have made that I described something I disliked. Instead of saying "deal with it" you can post some ideas on what I CAN DO.

Also people aren't understanding what I'm complaining about. I'm not saying that Dragon Attacks should never happen. I'm complaining about how long and just boring the fights are. It's more of a nuisance then it is fun.

Seriously, especially when I want to get something done fast. Like I have 10 min to make it to this place without fast traveling, I can do it. First minute bam a dragon appears.

It's very annoying.

Yeah, I hate it when a Dragon Invasion results in dragons attacking people.

Why they didn't try peaceful assimilation is beyond me. Maybe it's related to the fact that they can't discuss or scream without hurting someone with their voice.

There are no time limits in the game. You don't have 10 minutes to make it to a place "or else".

Dragons are returning, it's a major part of the game. The unpredictably and the fact that people help and can be killed makes it a lot more believable.

Bethesda wants you to hate them. Kind of goes with the whole "I'm gonna eat their souls and permanently kill these bastards from ever bothering anyone" theme. I mean, why would you do that if they didn't deserve it? If they were nice about when they picked fights, then you're also unnecessary.

There is somewhat of a valid point however, especially with all the bugs that have been happening with dragons.

I have had dragons circle me for miles and do nothing. I've also had them drop into the middle of a city, look around and then fly off with no follow up.

Some aspects of the dragons are bugged, which make them annoying and sometimes frustrating.

I would understand if he talked about those issues, but the way he worded it made it seems like his complain was solely about "random dragon attacks and how he dislikes it".

i like it when that stuff happens, as long as it doesn't look weird or anything strange behavior from dragons just makes them more mysterious

Deal with it.

Dragons are returning.

If one attacks and you don't feel like fighting it, walk away. Be mature and don't get caught up in their shouting insults at you. It only makes you look silly.

So .... you want just one behavior? I think the examples you have given point to the variety of Dragon interaction possibilities.

Heh. I hope for their attack. I have even had em' land right on top of me. So cool.

I want logical behavior.

A dragon circling me for miles and then just flying off doesn't really feel like a dragon to me. Just simply landing on a rooftop, sitting there, and then flying off also does not feel dragon like.

I literally one time was passing through a smaller town and the dragon landed, looked at me then flew away. It didn't even roar.

There have always been annoying things attached to the story line. Morrowind had ash zombies that would appear when you slept, Oblivion has Oblivion gates and Skyrim has dragons.

Dragons would have cool if they were not simplistic land, breathe, bite, fly repeat they do not even use their own language. The fights are really easy it amazes me how they can not turn around very well. You can attack if from behind for a good few swipes before it even turns around.

I'm old enough to not complain about dragons attacks in a game (as of the Main Quest) centered around a dragon invasion.

Haha, so it sounds like you guys are coinciding a video game which is about fun and real life which contains hardships. What you guys are saying is that in a video game, even if something is truly annoying, if it's part of the 'story line' then you should deal with it.

No, this is a game, I shouldn't have to "deal with it". I shouldn't have to deal with something that is truly annoying and MOST people agree with. Just because it's part of a story line, doesn't mean people shouldn't complain about it.

You just want them to be around resting at dragon walls?

No.

But on one character I encountered 3, and fought all three, in the span of 15 minutes or so. Maybe even less.

And that was without fast traveling?

I wonder if maybe something like that happens if you walk around too much.. and it accrues to the point where it tries to make up for lack of dragon events, and does it all at once.

Wasn't fast traveling at all. I was actually traveling around the area near... God what is it called, it's North of Roikstead, Bandit's Pass or something, Cottage to the East. That area.

I say they should make it to where dragons stop coming back after awhile. like after you have done practially everything there is to do that involves fighting dragons. case they are definitely not the greatest challenge in the game. if i were fighting more than 5 of them at once maybe.

The worst thing about dragons is not fighting them, that's easy.

It's getting them to land, nothing as annoying as starring at it while it circles in the sky for five minutes and then suddenly deciding to bugger of.
It can also be frustrating if they kill quest related NPCs by accident, or start hunting random NPCs while you where trying to fight it.

Anyway, if you really... and I mean really, hate dragons attacking you don't got beyond retrieving that dragon stone with the main quest.
You won't be able to use shouts because no dragons will spawn but you can frolic about all you want without ever being bothered.

I have more problems with bears and dragon priests than I do with dragons.

Bears and Dragon Priests don't appear in towns. The worst thing about dragons is chasing after it. Why do they always appear when I'm encumbered. And trying to prevent NPC deaths is a pain. Why don't all the non-guards run away. I wish I had a spell like "Summon 6 skeevers" to give it some targets to go after. Goodness knows they often seem to ignore me in favor of mudcrabs and other wildlife.

What I don't get is why those dumbasses don't just continually circle and breathe their elemental crap from the sky. Don't they realize that when they land is when they die? Also, I see them swoop and pick people up in their mouths constantly, why don't they just do this to you? Then you'd REALLY hate them. If you ask me, they made dragons with people like you in mind as well. They aren't hard by any means, and their attacks are less than frequent in my book. There are times when I'm taking a hike to a new destination, and i come across a huge open space thinking I should definitely see a dragon by now, yet none want to die. I love the dragon aspect. My only beef is the repetitiveness of fights. I love when I get caught in a new situation with one.
