Dragon Riding [merged topics]

I think it's totally fine to be completely honest.
Fa reel doh. Blasting enemies with lightning from the back of a dragon hasn't gotten old yet. Dragon encounters have gone from "Again? Really?" to "BWAHAHAHA!"

Dragons are ridiculously fast. Being able to fly around freely would probably explode an Xbox (because that's totally how computers work), and the constant loading before the explosion would have people coming to the forums anyway. It took a full minute for the dirt textures to load the last time I played. I think Bethesda had their reasons.

Why? A lot of people wanted dragon mounts. This gave them what they asked for without spending an enormous amount of time devoted to it that IMHO they wisely spent on the rest of the DLC. It's a very tiny part of the DLC and really takes nothing away from the rest of it. Doesn't add a lot but it at least was a nod to those wanting dragon mounts to say, we heard you and here is a chance to look at the world from atop the ferris wheel. I figure if I don't care for it I can just try it and skip it.

Sort of like the Unicorn in Oblivion.
yes but fancy moderator person you have to consider this "you gave us the cake, now when will you let us eat it?

I've no doubt that Dragon riding would have its restrictions. Free roam is possible and in its own world space.

How would you even control a dragon? Jam a steering column in the back of it's head.

Same way you Bend it's Will and ride it like you do now..
I would assume the player character would actually tell it what to do verbally, use it's horns as some sort of reigns, or just make it do what the pc wants with the Bending of the Will and whatnot.

Well...I'm ok with dragon riding as it is, even if I think it could benefit from more control options.
Anyway, yesterday I bended to my will a Serpentine Dragon and used to frost a certain NPC and his bodyguard in Raven Rock, while townfolks were running in fear everywhere....felt pretty badass.
Now I'm planning to lead the Stormcloak army to the conquest of Solitude, leading them from the skies on Odhaviing's back :D

This man found a glitch of some sorts that allowed his dragon to enter some sort of free roam mode.... You'll find it here: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qq95EE5pf-k
Don't mind the quality, just pay attention and stay to the end or at least get the gist of it.

Can some one else besides us confirm this? This bug seems to activate when the dragon rises high into the atmosphere..

Note: you still cannot control it, but you won't be flying in sporadic circles with this bug activated.

I'm very disappointed that you can't control the dragons flightpath.
Why even put it in that you can ride them, when you can't even control where they go? You are just left to sit on their necks doing nothing while the dragon flies in circles and roars for no apparent reason.

Really rather disappointed with this now. It was fun, but the letdown that you can't even control where you are going while on a dragon makes it not worth $20.

Wait, so you bought DLC for riding dragons, when dozens of people here SAID that the world space isn't big enough to fly around willy nilly with the dragon's speed?

Smart.

search engine please. Not sure why people actually expected free roam. It's not gonna happen with the current consoles. Even without it, dragonriding is very fun. Try attacking a fort or whiterun in the civil war. You may change your tune.

More like he bought a DLC for $20 because it had dragon riding.

Not, y'know, new shouts, a new landmass, new quests, new armor and weapons...

They could take dragon riding out all together and the DLC would be worth the price.

Also modders could improve on this. Even Bethesda could find a way to make it a better experience by patching in a bit of code.

Seriously why are so many people hung up on this one feature. The DLC adds so much, but still all you here is WAAAAAAH! dragon riding is lame.

It's something that should have been added as a full feature or not at all. Same for spears and werebears. Bethesda is just too lazy to go all out when it counts.

I do love to see the "fans" defend them at all costs though. How many bugs in vanilla Skyrim still aren't fixed? Dawnguard? Hearthfire? How many bugs reported during Dragonborn beta were fixed before release? After? How many DLCs are on the PS3?

You can lick a boot only so much before the sole eventually wears away. Keep that in mind.

Wrong. THEY CAN'T DO FREE ROAM FOR CONSOLES. PERIOD. And no, I don't think they should've left it out because its not free roam. As it stands it is still fun and useful. If you don't like it, fine. Hush up about it and do something else. I'll be enjoying the smell of burned imperial flesh upon my scaley steed.

As for glitches, what do you expect for a game this big? I have a pretty smooth experience for the most part, and don't forget this dlc IS coming to ps3...

So doing dragon riding as best they could within the restrictions of the console is lazy, but not even trying to add it isn't? Someone needs a dictionary.

I feel like they might as well stop making them...since no one seems to bother reading them anymore.

You're kidding, right? If you are so unhappy with Skyrim and the DCLs, why did you even buy it??? Or are you just out for a (s)troll?
