summary of things known
it appears dwemer in design
we cannot open it so far we have tired alot.......
there was a mage doing something with it
there could be something about the number 51
could possibly be a time lock door that opens on a certain day, could also be nothing that were just over thinking
the dates people have suggested are, the 11th of morning star and the 1st of sun's dusk
anything else i missed just leave a message
ive taken the dwemer puzzle box, the control cubes, dynamo cores, both the spider and sphere, spider control rod, keening, volendrung, cast endless spells and shouts all to no avail. i tried to remember everything dwemer related to take and see if any are different while within the house, but nothing so far? maybe you need the one from avanchnzel?

Try popping off the different Master level Destruction Spells.

Maybe it reacts to one of the elements like that. But the Master level version.

Y'know...the whole thing reminds me way too much of the letter the dead thief in Irkngthand was carrying. The one that was talking about the eyes of the Falmer and how they burn into you. I obsessed over that for quite a while, too, and there was nothing. Stuff like that is a pretty neat addition and kind of creepy, which is always a plus, but neither appears to be anything more than that.

I honestly don't think it's anything but if it were to be something I think it would be on certain day it would open. Nothing you can throw at it would change it. Just my two cents

All right. Let's play around with it:
  • It's in the shape of the sun. Ergo, the month must be Sun's Dawn.
That means we have to find the day. Could there be numbers associated with this place?

Dwemer DLC foreshadowing I say. You heard it here first.

They did it with New Vegas dlcs. Foreshadowing each new DLC on the past ones.

I don't think this is the matter for this section but:

Joshua Graham was mentioned several times in the main NV game (Honest Hearts)
The Big MT was mentioned by Elijah (Old World Blues)
Elijah himself and his travel to Sierra Madre were mentioned in the BOS quests (Dead Money)
Finally, there were Ulysses clues all over the other DLCs and the main game (Lonesome Road)

I suspect they're doing a similar pattern with Skyrim. I'm sure theres something in Dawnguard that subtlely foreshadowed Dragonborn, same with this machine and the next DLC.Yet, I might be wrong and it may be a general "ancient civlizations" DLC, featuring Snow Elf, Dwemer and ancient Nord mysteries.

EDIT: Also, the crashed skyship... it may just be a nostalgia bonus from bloodmoon... but I think that 2 "mysterious" Dwemer machines in the same DLC is too strange. Even though, the Aetherium Forge was in Dawnguard and it didn't foreshadow anything.

what shouts ad magic have people used.
slightly OT with dlc foreshadowing arngier said to you when you first met him in high hrothgar that you may not be the only active dragonborn at the time but you are the only one made known to the grey beards. little obscure but it's there lol

Hhm, i tried hitting it with vartious weapons and have noticed that it makes a different sound when i hit it with something large (Elven warhammer in this case)

P.s. i have no problem with a dwemer DLC....AS LONG AS THEY DON'T RETURN, NOT NOW, NOT EVER

p.p.s. i have a chunk of wall missing in that house opposite the bookshelf door, i can see straight into the void

Since the Dwemer have featured more prominently in vanilla Skyrim, Dawnguard and now Dragonborn than the vast majority of races actually in the game (Orcs, Redguards, Bosmer, Argonians, Bretons) , I'm not really sure if I would call it 'foreshadowing' if there was a Dwemer DLC. It kind of lacks the subtlety usually associated with foreshadowing.
In fact, there was so much Dwemer related content in Skyrim and the DLCs that I'm not sure what's left besides indeed letting us meet a Dwemer again. We have ruins, books, quests, lots of unique items...they're everywhere, just not in person.

I was exploring Hrodolf's (sp?) House last night, and I found a couple of things.

First, you can use the bookshelf in the ruined house to get on the roof. There's a locked strong box up there. Held nothing more than a Flawless Amethyst for me, but still a cool find.

Second; when I found Hroldof dead by the water, he was carrying Netch Jelly, Slaughterfish Scales, and Wheat. I'm not an Alchemist, nor have any of my characters ever done anything with Alchemy. Maybe Hroldof discovered a potion combo that affects the... thing in his basemant, and those three ingredients are part of it? Maybe he had the formula wrong and only two of those are correct? Have any of our resident Alchemists given the items on scene a try to see if maybe there is a potion/poison solution?

Try using a any Shout on it... I remember that in Blackreach there was this..."artificial sun" you could shout at and a dragon appeared. Since it looks like some kind of furnace the logic one would by the fire breath. But try using any other. Or a combination of a dwemer mace and a fire spell. Still, this is going to be no supersecret, no foreshadowing, just good ol' trolling from Bethesda.

Have any of you read the book "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline? This has Halliday's Easter Egg written all over it! Don't give up fellow Gunters!!!

I listened to the audio book version read by Wil Wheaton. A bit silly, but somehow compelling. Especially if you have ever played Joust, listened to Rush, or if you have ever been through the Tomb of Horrors.
