So is everyone with an ATI card having trouble?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:25 am

ya I gotta Toshiba Satellite A665D-S5175 15.6" Laptop

ATI? Mobility Radeon? HD 4250
4GB DDR3 1066MHz memory
AMD Phenom? II Quad Core Mobile Processor P960

Ive yet to find another with my same ATI but I guess its pretty much common with all. Im gettin incredibly slow gameplay.

Also, does the sound from the intro in the campaigns not match up with the video? Not that I'm too worried about this right now seeing as I can't even play.

I am using an AMD HD6870 and just upgraded drivers to the 15a hotfix and it solved all my problems.

Mobility Radeon HD 5870 - experienced low FPS and a blue-screen crash. Tried killing shadows via console, havent done hotfix yet.

No game for me yet...but I just hope that my 6990 does the job.
I also hope that they work on a fix soon.

Have any of you tried a fresh install of windows to maybe clear up any unknown issues or conflicts with your pc? For instance, if I didn't see someone else with a problem with Dirt2 CTD on launch, I woul dhave never known that a damn head tracking software cause my issue, uninstalled and good to go.

Also I am asking to see if this helped for anyone with ATi so I can tell my bud, it might be his only option unless there is some sort of conflict that all of which you guys have in common? (Though for you all to have an issue, is quite rare to have a similar issue such as a conflicting program)

For ATI radeon users - Do this...."no this is in no way a fix".

Download - CCC (Catalyst)

open it and the left hand side menu - goto Information > Software.....It should say "Catalyst Version 11.3"

Stick too 11.3!

Out of all the searching and info gathering ive been doing before friday - im certain this has to be a possible solution.

Everyone who has upraded past 11.3 onto 11.5 - 11.5a hotfix etc etc Are experiencing problems.

Everyone else who isnt, seems to be on 11.3.

So i suggest maybe trying to rollback to 11.3.

Out of curiosity where are, if anywhere specific, the new drivers I dl suppose to go? I tried doing the 11.3 and ati tells me I either have no drivers or they aren't working properly. The new drivers replace the old one, but for some reason don't work! I get the feeling I'm doing something wrong :(. This in fact happens with every driver I try to dl. 11.5, 11.5a hotfix, and there was another one that windows suggested I dl; it just said it was for the 5700 series. I'm using an ati HD 5750.

Crashed twice (computer restarted) over 4 hours of playing with CrossfireX enabled (although I did not check to see if CF was actually on as from what I gather from othe CFX users, Brink is still utilizing only one GPU)... Not a temps issue. Temps were always below 40C on load because I have both of them liquid cooled.

Rolling back doesn't help much, and the new update doesn't do squat.

I'm on ATI Mobility Radeon HD5730 (1GB). Catalyst 11.5 did BSOD me but a clean reinstall fixed that.
I'm not sure about my fps, but on minimal graphics it's definitely playable. No sound here though!

Its because post processing is always ON for certain ATI cards. We'd get normal fps if we could turn it off.

Sab0t mentioned a good point - the open areas really kill my FPS, along with lots of players. these detailed playermodels are killer - I can do the challenges fairly well, but the campaign/multi is super stuttery.

15.a hotfix helped my problem considerably, but it's still not great considering i'm running on the lowest graphics.

for anyone who wants it:

I have a 5970 running 3 x eyefinity (5760x1080). Now I get the problem that when the game loads (and this happens on a single monitor too 1920x1080) when I got to click on the menu or anything really the gameflashes and I see the desktop. If I go into the game, same again - when I go to shoot I see the desk top. It seems to be finding it hard to "anchor" the game so to speak. It's likes the game isnt a priority if that makes sense. I've tried playing in a window, and that makes the window flicker when I press the mouse. Has anyone else had this issue? I dont know whether its the video drivers, or the mouse, or something going on with windows 7 (64). It's really bugging me. I cant even play the game long enough to find out if I have any of those other bugs! :P Anyway any help would be great. Cheers.

Sorry I should add that even though I made my own autoexec file to get the game to run in eyefinity, it still does it on a single monitor. And further to the single monitor problems is that fact that usually if a game doesnt support eyefinity or the higher resolution it drops down to the single monitor, not Brink. Brink mirrors the image on all 3 monitors. Any help would be great!

Further to this again, I just tried it and sometimes when I'm clicking it flashes between the last screen I was just at. Eg - You start the game and select your character then it zooms in and introduces the menu. When I click I get the new screen flashing between the character select screen etc. It's gotta be either the game or the drivers.
