So is everyone with an ATI card having trouble?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:33 am

I thought you guys didnt release a beta to spend more time on ironing out bugs and increasing performance, it is unacceptable that so many ATI users are having these problems. I am guessing that the real reason behind the no beta is to not scare away potential buyers that your marketing guys were trying to get to preorder.

I have fixed my sound by installing the directx redist in the game directory. Brink now runs flawlessly!

I have a 5770 using the 8.821 drivers, and everything's fine - on low settings anyway.

Running it with Crossfired XFX HD 4890's.
Using a Biosock CF profile in RadeonPro.
I have the latest drivers plus hotfix.

I'm getting 50 - 80 FPS in-game.

They released a beta, the bad news is you are playing it right now.

I'm running...

Pentium Dual E2180 hard vmod overclocked to 2.7ghz (that was fun)
4GB RAM
Radeon 4770
Win7 Pro x64

I'm finding that no matter what I do I run 10-35 fps, depending on the situation. I started running the game at 1680x1250 with medium settings and I got just under 30fps in firefights in challenges and from 8-12 fps in firefights in campaign, apart from the occasional less than 1 fps hang for 2-3 seconds when more than three or so explosions are happening at the same time. I dropped the resolution to 800x600, turned vsync, motion blur, HBAO, soft particles, high quality post processing, and shadows off, installed the ccc 11.5a hotfix (from 11.5 I was running), and rubbed my lucky rock. Now I'm running just under 35fps in challenges and 10-13 fps in campaign, though hangs are less severe and frequent than previously.

Also, during character selection/editing my frames seem very random. At some points, even during customization, I can be getting 160+fps, where sometimes even on the mission selection screen I get less than 5. This was stabilized somewhat by the 11.5a hotfix, however only just noticeably.

It occurs to me that my CPU may be the bottleneck, however I feel that these changes would have made at least slightly more impact if that were the case.

Ok soo.... I install the hot fix and surprisingly it does work to an extent, but IT DOES NOT get me the frame rates I should be getting with this rig. Please resolve this issue quickly Splash Damage. This is not looking good. There are [censored] loads of people waiting to play.

Well guys i hate to say it - I have been waiting to play brink for a long time, Now the wait is up....

Now...I dont want to rub this in anyones face, but....My brink works just fine.

ATI Radeon 4650 1gb Ccard Patch 11.3 / 2.7Ghz Duel core / 3GB Ram.

And it works lol.

My problem is the fps....Outside of screen i get an easy 60-70+ fps....

Inside however...well, Lets just say "I too am getting the kind of Grid line feel" not as bad as ive seen on others! But its there...

Theres defo a clutteryness in the fps - Not enough to make me not want too play, but enough to piss me off tbh.

The gameplay + game itself, is lovely.

overwhelming! but lovely.

I just hope now that - They somehow make a more "stable" patch for the ATi users - Cause i do want a bigger increase in fps.

And was wondering this too - Anyone got any commands or anything to disable shadows and etc etc...

I had major problems with the 11.5 drivers (even tried the hotfix).

I dropped the resolution to 1280x900 something and turned all the settings down and I was still getting ~15fps and severely lagged mouse input.

Q6600 - quad core
6gb ram
ATI HD5870

Downgraded to the 10.11 drivers and everything ran smoothly at 1920x1080.

Hope this helps

Im upgrading to 11.5 just now - Even though i promised myself i wouldnt, [censored] it gotta try something.

Edit - DO NOT GET HOTFIX 11.a - I [censored] knew it!....

It Will not run brink - When you try start up bring, it just closes it back down.

I had brink working fine on the 11.3 - Stay away from 11.5.

I mean the game runs fine....But just not "fine" enough - the battlefield gets a bit overwhelming, can barely maneuver...

If this dont work - ill get 10. drivers

Okay... How does one downgrade the graphics card software? I guess I have to basically use a crowbar on my rig and tear it down in order for this piece of [censored] game to work.

Having huge problems with my ATI card here.

The game feels so choppy and so laggy it's not enjoyable at all.
In some places i get 60 fps but then i turn around or go to a place which is wide open and i get 15-20'ish FPS,just terrible.

Core2Duo E6550 @ 2,9Ghz
4Gb DDR-800 RAM
HD5770 Hawk 1Gb
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

If people are having trouble with the 11.5 update, try downgrading to 11.4. When I upgraded to 11.5, I got good FPS, but the gpu would randomly crash. With 11.4, all issues went away. Also, if you have a mobility card, make sure you get the mobility drivers and not the regular ones (i did this on accident when updating the first time lol)

Just for reference the game runs decent enough 30-90 on this:

11.3 drivers (11.5a runs like [censored])
ATI 4870 1GB
4GB
C2D E8400 @ 3.4ghz
Win 7 64

I use medium settings.

Maxed out game settings at 1920x1080 res, on:

i7 920
ati hd 5870
6gb ddr3 1600
windows 7 64bit

Getting around 45-55 fps, 35 at lowest, 60+ at highest. (unless i run fraps, then i get 25-28 steady fps :P )
Running 11.5, haven't run into any problems at all really, guess im just insanely lucky for once from the sounds of things!
