EyefinitySurround UI Issues [Merged Similar Topics]

I have been a dedicated multi-mon user for a couple years now and it feels like there is still a significant lack of support from game developers still. It's shameful to see that two or three folks from the gaming community can come up with fixes for multi-monitor setups for games yet the developers of said games can't be bothered. The only reason I still bother with a multi-monitor setup is because of the few gamers out there like Helifax, Hayden and Dopefish who put forth a good deal of effort to get games to work with Eyefinity/Surround...not just Skyrim but many games. And still the developers of the individual games CAN'T BE BOTHERED to spend the little bit of time to fix this in their respective games.

I preordered Skyrim, hoping against hope that it would work with the multi-monitor setups, only to be disappointed yet again. I have yet to actually play Skyrim much at all. Everytime I think about playing it I find that the latest patch has broken whichever fix I may be using be it from Helifax, Dopefish or Hayden and those guys are tying to find the time to fix their fix again...and the developers just ignore it all and the developers just throw the worthless, brush off repsonses to us.

I will never preorder another Bethesda product again, actually I have stopped preordering games altogether. I wait now to see if there is any multi-monitor support for a new game and if not I pass on said game; I keep an eye on the game to see if it ever gets anything in the way of multi-mon support from the developers (unlikely) or the gaming community. The PC gaming industry is killing my enjoyment of the multi-monitor experience and my gaming enthusiasm is dwindling.

This sounds like a rant, but I don't feel particularily angry over it all, just depressed. I don't even enjoy single monitor gaming anymore after the multi-monitor experience. I guess someday I will have to get myself a big ole monitor or PC friendly TV when the gaming industry forces multi-mon to be phased out. But for now thank the gaming gods for the few users out there who make it as worthwhile as they can for the rest of us because the developers don't care anymore.

I also advise for no more pre-order unless there is a demo of the game allowing you to check if widescreen is supported. And if there is no demo, there is always the torrent solution to make sure the game you re going to invest in is worth your money because paying for a game and having the developers not caring about fixing a "simple" scaling issue of the menus is very bad.

I guess they did get too much sales to care about satisfaction of their customers. Well, the won't catch me again on another game without widescreen support. Even Hunted the Demon Forge, one of their recent released game has this support natively. How hard can it be to have the menu to scale to the height of your actual resolution?

No matter how big a monitor you get you will still not be able to see the three times more display. All you will see is the same thing you see in your center monitor just bigger. That is a major misconception that many have about wide screen gaming. You see so much more, three times the data. I have played about 60 hours of SKYRIM in surround, when the latest patch broke HaYDeN's fix once again I tried playing on a single monitor for a while but it is such a downer after playing in surround that I have not now played in weeks.

I know this too well, but if multi-mon gets phased out someday then one big monitor is the only place to go from there.

Helifax in coordination with Dopefish just released a new Skyrim plugin for Widescreen Fixer that pretty much fixes multi-mon issues with Skyrim and only requires one toggle to activate it during game startup, check it out. I'm using it now and managing to play the game in Nvidia Surround.

Thanks Fursnake, yup, I see that on the WSG forum. I plan on trying it out when I get a chance this weekend.
I did get a response from Bethesda support saying that they "do not support multiple monitors, There is no immediate plan to change this". I have responded to them so nuff said for now. At least they did respond.

WSGF fix is again broken with the 1.5 patch, if you're lucky you can roll back to 1.4 using file restore(windows 7), steam likes to eat your exe's when they're out of date, so have fun with that... I managed to restore my 1.4 after the upgrade but having to do this with EVERY patch is getting incredibly frustrating...

Yup, 1.5 broke the last remaining wide screen patch. One of the modders who was doing the fixes seems to have given up, the other says he will try to get a new fix out soon. I stopped playing last month and have not looked back. There are other games that work well with surround.

I too would like to throw my frustration into the ring as well. It's sad that we have to resort to hacks to get Eyefinity/Surround working in the game. The fact that random people can create a hack to fix the game repeatly with every patch really shows that it can be done once and for all. On average it takes less than a week for the hack to come out from people not dedicated to working on the game. The fix should be able to be done within a day or two by someone on the team.

Not only that.... once the fix is created by gamesas.. it would be painless to implement for each patch... or at least MAKE IT PART OF THE DAMN GAME without having to "patch it"

Clearly it's not hard

It just screams lazy

I registered to sign this thread as well. It's quite sad that the game have been released for this long without a fix for an issue like this.

I was so disapointed that Skyrim doesn't support Eyefinity I simply stopped playing. I do check back every couple of months hoping to see it... oh well, I've got better things to do anyway.

Just thought I would link this here. https://www.flawlesswidescreen.org/index.php/Flawless_Widescreen, for anyone who wants to play the game in Eyefinity. Auto updates itself. Very useful.
