You mean "more Fallout" than Fallout 2, I assume. =/
I'm sorry, but I consider Fallout 2 to be JUST AS "Fallout-y" as Fallout 1, and moreso than Tactics or Fallout 3.
That's fine. For you. For me, Fallout 2 was less Fallout like because it tried to get too funny, AND because of New Reno, because it didn't seem to fit the Fallout mood. They even got the timing wrong: By 1950s the mobs were more likely to be packing lawyers and politicians than tommy guns and fedoras.
When I say New Reno was not Fallout-like, that's what I mean: The area did not fit well in the rest of the game...or with the game before it. For F:NV, I'd like to see the area fit better into the established look and feel of Fallout 3, or Fallout 1, but definitely NOT like New Reno.
Imagine something like The Pitt with:
-Several (three seems proper) gangs in competition for turf;
-individuals just trying to get by...some honest and trying to get out of a life that caught them, many less than honest...players, petty crooks, abusers, addicted, victims;
-Slavers ()roll the Hub into New Reno);
-A faction that would like nothing better than to clean up the whole place;
-Another faction that would klike nothing better tahn to control the whole place;
The possibilities are endless for quests which will require ambiguous moral choices, no-win situations, sacrifices of individuals for the greater good, multiple potential outcomes and ways to solve problems.
And, an area outside and around the town(s) which is, effectively, wasteland, with a good collection of mobs and places to explore. Weapons and equipment suitable for desert conditions, a couple radio stations (There is a HUGE amount of royalty free music out there from the 1920-1940s), references and areas from VB and te earlier Fallouts.
This could be one awesome Fallout, closer in spirit to the earlier Fallouts, while still maintaining the combat and feel of FO3. That combination would make me a happy camper.
