Has anybody purchased New Vegas yet? I feel like im the only one. I went to gamestop and reserved and purchased it. Now I realize there is no content whatsoever regarding it.

Yes I actually got it as soon as I Herd about it at gamestop didn't know much about it until later wich is little was nervous now don't know what to expect. I love Fallout 3 so I hope it keeps close to it's game play.

It's against the forum rules to post scans of a magazine or to transcribe the article, or to link to scans or transcriptions. The most someone can do is summarize it.

See http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=707790.

. . . Ok well then someone can send the info to Ausir and he can put the info up in the Vault, either way im sure somebody from Beth or Obs will put something up on their home page however I have never seen anything relate to Fallout new Vegas on their homepage and when I click on the community it brings me here. Small world.

So is anyone in the UK picking up OXM when it comes out on February 11th? I just emailed some people at OXM US and the New Vegas article wont be in the US edition until April, so we'll have to rely on someone in the UK to summarize it.
I intend to get the mag and send it off to Ausir when it comes out in 2-3 weeks. NMA will probably have the scans and the info too.

Why not just post a summary yourself and keep the magazine? I'm sure Ausir will find a way to either get scans or get his own copy of the magazine.

He'll have it up before anyone else knows it's out. I never did agree with him much, but i do respect his efforts and his skills.

Well, http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=53572

In that case I hope it's not Inon Zur again, or worse: Jeremy Soule.

We have contacted Mark Morgan himself to check whether the rumors about him composing the soundtrack for Fallout: New Vegas are true. Unfortunately, they turned out to be false.

"I am not doing New Vegas, i think their using Inon Zur but I'n not totally sure."

Now, that's a downer. Oh well, it was nice hoping for it while it lasted. And yes, no Zur or Soule please.

They should hire the guy doing the ambient work in Stalker games.

Thank you for sharing these links Syraxis, I found Chris Avellone's blog incredibly insightful, and enjoyed it immensely. It was like taking a web-seminar on modern game design, and I was especially intrigued by the discussion on narrative, and the use of branching narrative in Alpha Protocol. It seems as though Bethesda applies alot of the same game design theory when it comes to narrative, which doesn't surprise me. I suspect we will see some very dynamic characters in NV. :)

Am I like the only guy who turns the music off completely on only spoaradically listens to the radio, perhaps if I'm in a town?

It has its moments sure, but in general I find it a bit too bland to complement the moods of the setting.

I like Fallout 3's music. It's perfect for the game's setting. Ilike GNR as well.

what is this thing about these "authorization issues"? sheesh, this constant losing of posts is really annoying :shakehead:
anyway

assuming an interesting narrative/writing/setting is a given due to the involvement of sawyer/avellone, i'd like to see the following

- bring back individual resistances against normal/laser/plasma/fire damage for apparel
- bring back damage threshold
- make wearing power armor actually worthwile(but don't tone down my beloved ranger armor^^)
- make wearers of power armor almost as huge as mutys, thus it giving the intimidating feel it should have
- bring back individual ammo stats, a 10mm bullet shouldn't penetrate power armor at all
- ammo should have a weight
- heighten the damage sustained during vats to about 30 or 40 %
- weather and seasons(i admit, kinda pointless in a desert setting) would be so cool
- fix the framerate and freezing issues for the console versions
- have more custimization options for the difficulty, such as optional need for eating/drinking
- keep all the stuff that was awesome in fallout 3, such as exploration, attention to detail, etc
- no node stuff for the gaming world

if they implement all my suggsetions, there's no reason why new vegas shouldn't be going to become the most awesome fallout ever :D

always thought this to be a console specific problem, specially the framerate. heck, one of my main reasons to put a potent pc rig beside my PS3 when new vegas arrives, was to get rid of these troubles :(

Yeah but you can't go wrong with a potent PC rig, especially if you should dabble in the modding world - which I highly recommend.

I'm still smiling about the vehicle rumors myself - one should not become so enamored with rumors!

Still... Vrrooooom, Rattattatt, Bang! Mmmmmm :)

Vehicles I think are highly unlikely to be added into NV, firstly because the engine is not one that can easily be modified. And secondly, Obisidian is not really used to the Gamebryo engine and the Geck and they have only 1 year. Well less now even. So yeah. I say: Not gonna happen.

I'd like the game to play out so that none of the factions (what ever they may be) are your enemies in the beginning, but you'd create the enemies from some of them your self via the path(s)/choices you choose during the course of the game. Balanced so that each enemy you make has some advantages over the other - for example raiders could come in numbers, lightly armored/armed whereas remnats of the Enclave or BoS (or what ever replaces them) come with heavy firepower and heavy armor but only few in numbers. There should of course be some occasional highwaymen, remnants of the Masters army (or what ever) and the wildlife, but the mainenemy would be of your own creation. I don't how difficult or easy the implementation would be, but the idea feels intriguing to me.

And of the wildlife AI... Please no more hostile on sight and running after you until the world ends. I'm still hoping for some variation of the Risen approach, where the animals have their own space in which they like to be undisturbed. And if you bother them they'll give a warning sign, continue bothering and they'll fend you off, but only a bit further from their "territory" and then they'll return to what ever they were doing. This would, of course, vary from species to species.

I think, besides the typically mentioned and requested; I think that FO:NV should include some sort of musical skill or something along those lines. Where if we wanted, we could add music of our own making or others that we like. And not only would it be that we listen to it, but we could also have our character play it. So for example, our character could get a Guitar (make one or find one out in the wasteland,) and play music for people. Kinda like a Bard, but more modern. Kinda like a street performer but with a Combat Shotgun hidden away in his other guitar case.

Something like that would be fun I think, and could add to the feel. Maybe while your character is deep in the wasteland, sitting over a fire with some comrades, he/she could pull out a guitar or something, and start playing to pass the time. I suppose you could have NPCs also be able to play instruments, so you could kinda build a band and go about playing around the wasteland, making caps.

This really would just be something for show and just to have something extra to do, but I think it would be great fun.

I'm not sure if this has already been linked, but Kateri linked me on Twitter to a http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?act=module&module=blog&req=showblog&blogid=1 by Chris Avellone in which he set out his approach to character direction. Since to me the characters were the most memorable and intriguing aspects the KOTOR universe, I think "meeting the people" is the one thing I'm most looking forward to in New Vegas.

Yeah it was already posted, but there's no harm in seeing it twice! :)

It was indeed a very good blog, I found a ton of really great information from Chris's blogs - it was like going to a seminar on game creation.

There is alot from his blogs that hints at how NV might be put together..
