Forum downtime

...Hrm. I'm going to have to choose between joining Rohugh for an epic battle of epic proportions, or GStaff for a new and radiant dawn of BGSF.

What do they pay you? Jellybeans?

Swag baby swag. :twirl:

Jellybeans would be a nice bonus though. Chocolate would be better.

Nope - it was suggested but the mods rejected them as it would reduce the number of warnings we could hand out.

Hah.

After the update, are we allowed to start a thread asking what changed or will I just have to guess?

I mean, if you really get right down to it, it IS possible that something will be announced after the update, or shortly after. For some reason, the time just seems right. *wink*
But, in all honesty, the moderators may or may NOT know the intention of the update, or they may be lying to us, or they may know part of what it's for.
If I may quote the moderators "interest":

"While I am a moderator on these forums, I'm not an employee of Bethesda Softworks. The views and opinions stated in my posts may or may not reflect those of Bethesda Game Studios."

Moderators aren't employees of Bethesda, and they very well could not know the full story. A lot of trust would have had to be acquired to give that sort of information to someone not in your company.

Again, purely speculation, but a good thought, and merits me being excited about it. :)

You don't need to ask I can already tell you: The moderators are getting new cages and new leashes

Other than that everything will be the same :P

An interesting point, did the moderators know about Oblivion's announcement before everyone else or not?

Your right, I'm sorry. :(

Anywho, on topic. Purty sure they closed the forums when Oblivion was announced..... maybe?

There was an upgrade to the Forums before Oblivion came out, but I think that was quite a while before that game was announced.

Let's not jump the gun. Patience. Afterwards will be OK. :)

The moderators know but are not saying anything, just don't get your hopes up. Oh, I don't lie, to be a good at lying you need to have a good memory and I have a terrible memory.

Now, what are we saying...........................?

You know, it's nice to speculate and all, but it's sort of getting to the same levels I experience when I visit my 8 year old cousins in the days coming up to Christmas. I wouldn't get my hopes up, it'd be nice if there was an announcement but do you really think us bums on the forums would find out about it before someone in the gaming press with Zenimax or Bethesda handling it via a press announcement or something?

Fair enough, Good sir. :)
I'm just excited for TES:V in general, whether it be announced after all this or not. I hope it is but, I wont be "disappointed" if that's not the case, as my gut feeling that tells me it WILL be announced, is probably wrong. :)

We find these things out about 4 minutes before you do.

Goes like this

Big Bucket of water is poured over our heads or on our beds (if we are in them)

Then, in a loud voice "Get on the Boards, there be news-a-coming"

Then they haul us out of our cages cells comfortable chairs and chain us throw us place us at the terminals.

Then, we read the forums to see what the fuss is all about.

So, we have advance notice, but between drying out the ears and waking up, we don't have much time to capitalize on it.

I am excited about the possibility of TES V - the sooner the better.

I will speculate that it will be announced after the forums return from their down time .......... how long after is a different matter.

@CCNA: They use water on you? I had better not say what I was rudely awakened with last time.

Who is to say that in the time the forum DOES go down, they WONT make a press release with the information and it'll go "live" so to speak, and when the forums come back up, voila. We have a place to discuss it.
You never know.

OMG GUYS STOP TALKING ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF A TES:V IT'S KILLING ME ON THE INSIDE
/CAPS

It can't just a simple add a section to the forums, so something bigger maybe? TES:V? An overhaul of the forums? TES:V?

Edit: I love the Mod's here, you have a good sense of humour, at least I think it's joking... I'm right yes?

I'm going for Hello Kitty skin with sarcasm tags. Not TESV, or anything related to TES.

Okayyyyy.... party pooper. :meh:

 Just kidding, I really didn't think an announcement would be coming anyways. Always fun to hope, though...... :cold:

Understand that moderators have a certain quota of soul crushing we need to meet every week and they don't let us off the hook for downtime :D

After the update, are we allowed to start a thread asking what changed or will I just have to guess?

You won't need to ask, I mean a TES V announcement is pretty self explanahhhhhh PUPPIES AND KITTENS FOR EVERYONE!

More seriously, we'll allow a thread to discuss the update. :)

But, in all honesty, the moderators may or may NOT know the intention of the update, or they may be lying to us, or they may know part of what it's for.

You're right, there may be an update on the horizon we don't know about. And to answer turns-the-page's question, we didn't have much of a heads up for Oblivion. If there's a big announcement like that we may get 12-48 hours notice. We get more lead time if something results in big forum changes (like having the Fallout and Elder Scrolls forums together) but simply opening forums for a new Elder Scrolls game probably wouldn't fit in to that category.

Actually, it's more like a message from the admins:

"We're going to make a big announcement in 15 minutes." (No mention of what it is.)

15 minutes later, forums collapse due to everyone logging in at once.

5 minutes after that, I get an IM from one of my mates, "ZOMG! DID YOU HEAR? Fallout 4 to feature wizards and orcs?"
No. No I did not hear, because all you miscreants logged in before I could get to see. Harumph!

Interesting. Forum update eh. Im thinking theres a few possibilities.

Just regular site maintenance.
Site update, new skins, smilies what have you
New sub-forums being designed or current ones being re-organized

I welcome to see whatever change it is. Looking forward to it :goodjob:

See what you have caused?! Should have just let the forums go down quietly. Reactions would have been better too once it came back up :P
