Forum Update Discussion

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:56 am

Has anyone figured out if it's possible to archive messages in the Messenger thingie? I have all my folders sorted, even though the Sent folder has vanished, but can't figure out how to archive and email old messages to myself. Like I used to.
Clicking on the ? up on the top bar next to Logout has a section for it, but no instructions. I guess if that's a feature that won't return I'll be switching off my PM box.

I have no idea. Nice avatar btw, and at first I mind-pronounced your username as "My stick-star".

And still when I want to get to community discussion from profile or my settings I fall back to reflex and click on the banner to take me to the front page then click End. :brokencomputer:

I measured the empty space on either side of the text and there is 5 1/2 inches on either side. Now what use is that? And oddly the top bar with "username-settings-messenger-etc. spreads all the way across. It seems if that part can fill my screen the posts could.

They need to fix this.
For now, I just zoomed in. It's giving me a bit of a headache though.

With the way it is set up, I don't think 100% width would be any good. Definitely 95 or so.

But on the free Invision forums, you can adjust the size of them in the CSS, so I am certain they can do it.

Good morning, summer. :P

Yes that's one of the main gripes with the new layout, it's been almost dead-horse-beaten as the new starring system. Hungry Donner said that the admins will be informed of those annoyances and that we can expect them fixed after weekend.

Well until they decide to change it or even if they don't, I plan to park my plow truck in the empty space and use it to move snowspam.

The new PM window thing is nicer then the old one,or at least I think so.

Wish I had the nice little popup to tell me I had a new one, though.

Well admins in charge of the update and the layout are working people who get off-time for weekends too. :P

I wonder if they can change the color of the folder which tells that their is a new post in a thread. Maybe back to orange or something.

Maybe the quote boxes need to be made grey like the old forums? The black quote box on black background is not quite as easy and quick to catch which text is a quoted post.

sysadmins never get off-time. The old ones were just worked to exhaustion doing the upgrade, so gamesas is using the weekend to cull new ones.

You can. Just find it in the settings. General settings > Notify me on the board when I get a new personal message

The member toolbar that scrolls with you along the top of the screen gets wedged underneath the website banner at the top of the forums page. Making those tool feature inaccessable until you scroll down past the banner.

Obviously I haven't read through the 6 threads on this new forum update, but anyone else see the ridiculous parallels to Myspace this new layout has?

Comments, on the mod's profiles? Really Bethesda, really?

It's nice if you wanna drop someone a quick message but don't feel like PM'ing.

More features the better, you can disable them for your profile so I see no reason to complain.

Myspace... it's close to facebook in terms of profile, but it is still a forum.

And you can turn off comments.

It's a good thing it's disabled by default <_<

Another thing in profiles - when you view someone's topics/posts in a profile, it shows the content of each post instead of just a list. Ack...

I just want to state my initial dissatisfaction at the change. There's a couple features that might be useful, but usability is just right out.
The new narrow view with all the wild contrast changes just hurts my eyes, and makes scanning for useful posts within threads harder.
The new fancy graphics make scrolling slow and choppy, also hurts the eyes.
