I'm one of the eight who vote for FO1/2 style. And I'm proud of it . With some tweaks such system can be real gem of game-design. Everyone who think that turn-based systems are outdated should recall such games as Heroes, Disciples, Jagged Alliance, Civilization & Worms. These masterpieces can't be imagined in real time FPS style. The same thing with classic Fallout. That's one of reasons why I like original series more than third one.

And yes, I realize that there is no hope for turn-based isometric FNV. :(

What does 2D have to do with anything? Anyone who'd like an isometric view would like it to be in 3D, with rotatable camera, like in Dragon Age.

FO3 style. It's way more easy to understand, it's way funnier, and it adds immersion.

I loved the old Fallout 1 and 2 mechanics. I still play them to this day. I think that they're great.

That in mind, I love the new Fallout 3 style of play. I could give or take VATS (if the combat gets tightened up a bit)... but other than that, hell yes!

I always wanted to walk around the desolate wastes in first person, lobbing grenades at radscorpions as they came along, and blowing away bandits who cross my path.

To me, neither is superior. Both satisfy my desire for a post-nuclear experience.

It would be nice to see another oldskool Fallout. It think it would be big on the DS or PSP. It would be cool as an arcade download on the 360/Wii and PS 3 and of coarse the PC would eat it.

I'd prefer it to be in the style FO1 and FO2. But since it isn't going to be, I just want the gameplaymechanics (skills&stats) to reflect more of that style, like a midway between FO3 and them.

FO1/2 style

But its going to be Fallout 3 style nonetheless, this pole really does not make any sense.

Its going to be Fallout 3 style.
I would personally prefer to it being Fallout & Fallout 2 style, done in 3D. Since the chances of that happening are nil, i would like for the stats and skill to be rebalanced towards to way of Fallout 2 for F:NV.
The balance in 3rd one was rubbish. You gained way, way too many skill points, and with Broken Steel, the situation got worse.

There's no reason for Obsidian to go back to an outdated system when there's a better one available to them.

Fallout 3 may not have done many things right, but changing the perspective was definitely one of them.

whats outdated? RT is just as old as Turn based. I would love to see the old mechanics return, with a graphics improvement. We already have tons of FPS around already.

I thought the stats and skills aspect of FO3 was fine as it is. It is esy to use.

Where do these 2D comments come from? :biglaugh:

The stats and skills are easy to use because they bear so little significance, they make so little difference.

Stats and skills were badly balanced, you could easily gain huge amount of skill points, and your skills and stat choices didnt really matter as much in terms of gameplay. In Fallout , if you had 20 energy weapons, good luck using laser pistol effectively.
In Fallout 3, i had 15 energy weapons. And i could easily use it to kill enemies. If i made a strenght 2 character in Fallout, i could barely use any guns. Same in Fallout 3, and you can wield minigun. Low intelligence ? No problem. Charisma was utterly useless in Fallout 3. And then theres the awful near perfect perk in broken steel. The system really didnt make character creation matter at all in Fallout 3.

Agreed.

Then again, the Nearly Perfect doesn't make much difference because of what you wrote before mentioning it. :P

Definitely FO3 style. If I never see another slow turnbased game it'll be too soon.

I would, maybe not the new vegas, but another game in the future

This, I agree with, regarding FO/FO2 style gameplay. As for NV, even before we saw screens of any kind, we knew it would be built off the FO3 engine, using Gamebryo, so that 100% confirmed 3D right off the bat.

1st and 3rd person guaranteed.

Where have you been hiding until now? It's been confirmed a long time ago it will be 1st/3rd person.

It's already been confirmed that it will be like Fallout 3.

Its 1st/3rd perosn.

God why do you people still question about this its been confirmed and we all should know by now without looking like idiots.... Its fallout 3 style, its 1st/3rd person view, its the same friking game engine used on fallout 3, the gameplay is just like fallout 3 but its all tweaked up and its called Fallout: New Vegas

I guess this is what you would expect from a bunch of boneheads that don't keep up with the news..... :/

Its 1st/3rd person.

Also, Deth-Angel-69, stop acting like a smug self-righteous [censored] because you knew about this and the OP didn't. I know your 12 (as evident by the "69" in your name. "I have a '69' in my name! I'm so clever and funny! Hurrr durr!") and you get excited when you know something someone else doesn't, but calm down dude. You're not that cool.

calm down man...your the one acting like the 12 year old... im not being all self-righteous here but we have rules on this forum and trying to act like you are and if you continue is asking for a thread closed.... and im not saying it as if "god these people are stupid and annoying" im saying it in more of a "well here we go..were gonna start seeing allot of these soon.." kind of way

and i have the 69 for no apparent reason just that some people already took the name i have without the 69 and i know i misspelled death if you haven't noticed... and im not referring 69 to what you think it is...just the number itself and not trying to be funny.... so stay on topic if you will you can have this kind of conversation on some other forum...

How about something like FFXIII or Phantasy Star Universe where you actively engage in combat with enemies, but the RPG factors and algorithms decide damage. That'd be kind of cool. Or FO3 with the Borderlands damage mechanic. If you're insane enough to fight overlevelled enemies, you do less damage, they murder you, but the payoffs are way better.

I'm not even a fan of TB combat and I would still rather have 1&2's combat if NV doesnt improve on it.
