Are you kidding me? FO 1 & 2 gameplay would be so horrible I'd rip my eyes out just so I can't see it. FO 3 gameplay FTW.

The game will use Fallout 3's gameplay style, that's known for a fact.

I'd prefer Fallout and Fallout 2 gameplay any time. Unfortunately, Bethesda is the publisher so it's not something they can do, even if the original devs who are making it would want it to happen.

No one would want it to be 2D, this is just silly. Van Buren, the canceled Fallout 3 by Black Isle Studio, made by many of the makers of Fallout: New Vegas, was 3D and yet had gameplay style just like FO1/2 (aside from letting you choose between turn-based or real-time modes). However, it would be great if there was a top-down camera option, like in Dragon Age.

Fallout : New Vegas is using the exact same engine as fallout 3 so I doubt they're going to have it as a turn based combat game, and is probably going to be the same as fallout 3 first and third person view and well probably have the exact same camera system.

Where have you been hiding until now? It's been confirmed a long time ago it will be 1st/3rd person.

thank god its NOT turn-based, isometric view. combat in the fallout 2 was so horrible i could never get past the first couple of hours.

i personally cant wait to see what my current fave developer is going to do with this game. sorry bethesda but dont worry your a close second. unless they do a real bang up job on the next deus ex in which case bioware falls to second and bethesda to third. :)

Funny, I feel similar about Fallout 3. Anyway, it would be best if you could switch between FPP/TPP/isometric like in Dragon Age, and between turn-based and real-time like in Fallout Tactics and the canceled Van Buren. This way everyone would be happy. But they don't have time to implement that.

I love it when people prop up their opinions as facts and take up logicaly questionable positions. Maybe I should try it out:

FO:NV is going to be turned based because it is superior in every way, just like chess is superior to football and housecats.
And cats are widely known to be extinct in the world of Fallout, which just proves my point.

:)

PS,
I'd actually like both turn based iso and real time fps options, however Obsidian has been given nowhere close to enough time to implement such a thing.

dont get me wrong....fallout 3 combat wasnt spectacular. one of the first mods i downloaded was for disabling the lame auto aim. and i use FWE to give weapons a much need boost so im not pumping clips of ammo into badguys. there is no reason they couldnt do a game with all views. unfortunatly when your developing to the lowest common denominator your restricted as to what you can do. :( i wish sony and microsoft would hurry up and release their next gen of consoles already.

@mikhailin.........we are all waiting for exactly how my post could be taken as anything other than my opinion. maybe they should implement an "opinion" tag similar to the spoilers tag. :biglaugh:

Well, for FNV there is one - time constraints. But other than that, there is no reason it couldn't work like in Dragon Age, where you can easily switch to isometric mode.

God why do you people still question about this its been confirmed and we all should know by now without looking like idiots.... Its fallout 3 style, its 1st/3rd person view, its the same friking game engine used on fallout 3, the gameplay is just like fallout 3 but its all tweaked up and its called Fallout: New Vegas

I guess this is what you would expect from a bunch of boneheads that don't keep up with the news..... :/

FP and 3D, thank Vecna! Todd Howard said it right when he once explained the importance of 3D in involving a player in the world. There are so many neat gameplay elements that can be added by having a FP, 3D perspective. Whether it worked like a shooter or not.

And many neat gameplay elements that can be added by having an isometric view, especially in terms of tactics. Neither view is inherently superior, they are good for different things and different people. Which is why e.g. Dragon Age allows you to switch between TPP and isometric.

Oh, man, how I endorse this. But still, we have to know that are a lot of noobs that roam aroung every forum plus a lot of 13-14 action-packed-brain year olds. So don't be surprised this still happens. And it will happen from now on, so get used to it.

+1. There should be a sticky or something with everything we know about the game, so there aren't thread after thread of the same questions. Just imagine how many more of the same questions will be asked between now and the game's release. Because, we all know there will be a LOT. It's going to be a fun time around here between now and then.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about. The same questions will be repeated tens of times until release... and after. But there's been at least 4 threads with what we know until now and no Mod decided it should get a sticky that could be edited only by them. And bumps aren't allowed either.

That's because the guy asked whether it is FO3 style or FO1/2 style, which is widely known, not which style it should be.
