Game Jam to DLC? what would you like to see in it.

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 9:33 am

In my last thread, Vampire lords as well as vampires themselves were discussed along with lycanthrope.
This thread is about three things, what would you like to see in the DLC, and how it could be implemented and what could come with it as part of it?

Well for giant Mudcrabs, i reckon its more or less a good move as there isn't much in the water that can threaten the player, a giant monstrous sea monster would prove a threat on par with a dragon, so i would like to see it implement and by extension other sea monsters, perhaps a kraken.

Players should also be able to own ships, and have quests/jobs that go with it as they could either be a honest merchant or trader or a pirate. Trader types should have to visit each port to get their rewards while pirate have to ambush the traders to steal their goods. The threat of sea monsters could be useful here.

Goblins looked different in that game jam video and were an interesting enemy to fight in oblivion and was quite strong as high levels.

Werebears, werewolves and vampires were already discussed in my other thread but i will make a short recap here:
players wanted werebears in but some have said it resembles a bear too much and so should have less fur on it.
Player such as myself would also like to have forced transformations once a month but still retaining the ability to change at will.
Lycanthrope perk tree is also a popular demands so far.
First-person view and more quests.
A lot of people want bethesda to fix the werewolf armour rating which got screwed up with a patch...however some have said it was intentional and if do, then that was a d!ck move by the big guys,

Vampire Lord is also wanted by many though they would prefer it to be without wings or at least the wings its got currently.
People are seeing Vampire Lord as a potential way to fix what people are saying are useless and worthless lore breaking vampires, i am inclined to agree there.

Members had agreed that the feeding system should be changed to getting stronger by feeding rather than getting weaker and for they also would like to see different feeding methods, a Vampire kill move in the video showed a different feeding method which kills its victim.

Bonuses to one/two-handed weapons, brawling and using your fists, block, destruction (especially frost magic) and conjuration. Slight Resistance to Iron and steel weapons (basically the old vampire bonuses but with special attention to frost magic and resistence as these are the volkihar)

Quests and Factions such as the crimson scars. etc.

Coffins that can be slept in.

New spells: Vampiric frost breath that encases victims in ice while draining them of health, Vampire version of become ethereal which could drain health if victims came to close. enhace version of vampiric drain as many people consider it to be severely underpowered. Vampire lord, a spell to show one's true to self. A inverted version of this would be cool as well since if one became a vampire, they should always look like a vampire lord but use a certain spell to appear like your old human self (except the eyes which should stay black and red)

New Weaknesses: Weakness to holy ground and temples (same effect as the sun)
Unable to do meridia's daedric quest as a vampire OR at least get a very sadistic one where she makes you kill your own kind.
Vampire hunters randomly attack you.
Vigil of Stendarr will also hunt you if you do bad things. (they should not be as fanatical as other vampire hunters)
unable to wield silver weapons (i'm a bit 50/50 on this one)
Need to feed regularly to keep bonuses up.
Known across the world as a vampire but you won't be attack on sight all time which should come down to different towns disposition and if one has committed a crime, which will gain triple the bounty due to prejudice and mistrust. (50/50)
Needing higher persuasion (speech) than normal. (again i'm 50/50)
unable to get divine blessings.
Can only get a proper rested bonus if using a coffin.

Spears i haven't seen since morrowind and as if it gets its own perk tree if implements then the level cap should go higher since one can only have 80 perks maximum

Ice and fire arrows were in oblivion if i recall correctly, they were not easily found and were useful depending on the enemy fought.

Kill cams for ranged and magic is must, a lot of magic users miss out of cool scenes of the kill.

Vigil of Stendarr faction should be joinable which should be similar to the Knights of the nine.
New spells, weapons and armour should come with this faction and should be very very powerful but can only be used by a human player.

Their rivals should be the silver hand who or more or less bloodthirsty bandits.

Dark dungeons is a must as it can be very strange how there are torches and lights in a place no one has been in for years.

Increased Jumping height is something many people want, it would be useful as part being a vampire or werewolf and a spell or enchantment for a human (like a vigil or stendarr spell or armour)

More Dark Brotherhood, thieves guild, companions and daedric quests.

Perhaps but i am using game jam as an example, the whole "what would you like to see in it" is not limited to the video, case in point is the ship and jumping height desire.

This thread is simply about what you would you like to see which could be original, from the game jam or inspired by it.

Never too late mate since threads have a 200 post limit and there is many more than 200 people desiring to see something new in a DLC.

Thanks Solid.
As i have said, the point of this thread is not just to do with what people want in DLCs or what they would like from the game jam but what it can inspire them to want in the future dlcs.

I went from giant mudcrab to Krakens and then to Ships as there should be more threats in the water than slaughterfish and normal mudcrabs.

I would like the giant mudcrabs to be undefeatable. Big like Sovereign and they behave like a natural game border.

That sounds cool, though i reckon should be at least be able to be beaten if they can't be killed.

There was a giant mudcrab in oblivion though it wasn't as big as in the video.
There was also a giant slaughterfish.

My biggest thing I want is more lore and actual evidence of falmer outside of the present, so ruined cities.

The falmer remind me of those creepers from the decent, as they too were people who evolved to become blind and dwell underground.
Lore is very important, its is frequently violated just for game mechanics, volkihar are a victim of this.

Yes, i agree with that since a lot players really wanted kick the thalmor in both the balls and teeth for what they have done, although since i am an evil kind of player it doesn't bother me what they did, its their attitude that makes me murder them when i find them escorting prisoners. So yeah, maybe quests dealing with thalmor could be a possibility and a good idea.

For [censored]'s sake. Like i said last time, prejudice and mistrust would have nothing to do with guards attacking a Vampire on sight. You are a Vampire, a murderous, ravenous blood-thirsty creature that preys on mortals and literally svcks the life out of them. You are a monster. If you walked into a town and were noticed for what you are, citizens would be screaming and running in terror, mothers would be running to scoop up their children to carry them into the house and bolt the door shut. The town chapel's bell would be ringing relentlessly; sounding the alarm as Guards would be pouring out of the barracks to come defend the people against the monstrosity that had just walked into town. You'd get the same welcome that a marauding, rampaging Frost Troll would.

You'd get the same welcome that a marauding, rampaging Frost Troll would.

You obviously don't know much about vampires then, they are not always murderous and evil, they were once human and their personality doesn't change automatically over the three days. what drives them to kill is their sometimes lack of control over bloodlust or when they are insane from starvation as is the case in some oblivion vampires or if they were evil then its simply that but not all are like that. Vampires even sometimes want to be cured and become human again. Vampires can be tolerated by cultures unless you never played oblivion or even morrowind, which despite being worse than skyrim in terms of getting attacked on sight, the telvanni, some guards and the mages guild speak to you and are non-hostile AND they KNOW you are a vampire...well so did the people in oblivion if you talked them as a stage four vampire.

Vampires = evil....don't make me laugh. I suppose by that logic werewolves automatically evil as well then and daedric worshippers.

Read the wiki on them on uesp or elderscrolls wiki, its very informative on them and their respective clans.

I like the idea of Water Arrows to put out those torch's. I also liked the idea of truly dark caves. It seems all the underground places in Skyrim have way too muchlight even when there is not torches around.

Yes i have always found it strange how places where no one has been in centuries has torches that are lit. Yet again, it does add to the creep factor and the haunted-ness of the area.

A truly dark cave or ruins would be excellent.

Along the same lines as your forced transformation...

I'd love a werewolf forced transofrmation monthly... but what good is it, when 2 minutes later its over.. you can just "wait" .... how about a hunger/bloodlust?

Fair enough you can do transformations at will, and not have the bloodlust... but what about the bloodmoon way it worked? ... once a month transformation is different, you have to kill to satisfy your hunger... otherwise your character (when not werewolf) will become weaker.. the stats will decrease till your hunger is satisfied (by killing and consuming someone during the forced transormation?)
