Games You Regretted Buying?

Post » Fri Jun 17, 2011 10:45 am

The game I regret buying is probably the worst game of all time.

THE SIMS 3!!!

It crashed so much that I wanted to take it out of my cd drive and set it on fire. :flamethrower:

It never crashed with me

Why thank you for reminding me about that. I apologise for any fits rage this next game title sparks.

Lord of the rings:Conquest.

That by far has the most misleading demo ever. The demo was epic and incredibly fun to play with friends.

Meanwhile the real game was lagging, the controls some how worse than the demo (don't ask how that happened for I have no idea), the story was short and felt unpolished.

I completely agree with you. In my opinion it was incredibly unbalanced as well.

Bloody Good Time, for the 360. It was just terrible. At least it was only five bucks.

@ClintostheGreat then you are lucky. If you go to their forums just about everyone is complaining about how it crashes constantly.

Failing to save properly seems to be a fairly major problem, especially as saves are very slow and you generally don't find out that there's a problem until you've waited five minutes. Sometimes persistence pays off but it takes a lot of patience.

Backbreaker: I don't mind supporting the company as they're up and coming and I believe they can do great things with their technology, but the game was more of a tech demo than an actual game. Oh well.

None others I can think of right now.

Medal of Honor: Airborne.

I thought to myself, "How bad could it be...?"

WoW sorta...It ate a tremendous amount of time. I have over a year of playtime clocked. But I did make a lot of good friends along the way, so I can't completly regret it.

DA:O. I got it for my PC and it causes my processor to work at 100% and heat up. Also causes my GPU to heat up to about 74C. I can only play it in the winter if I open my window, open my case and direct cold air into my PC. Otherwise, I get scared I'm going to break something.

FFX-2. Bought it...Twice. Once for me when it came out, played it, hated it, stopped playing near the final boss. I recently re-bought it for my girlfriend. She loves it.

MW2. The first MW is amazing. I even enjoy Blops. MW2 is terrible. The story is kinda 'Meh' and I don't like a single multiplayer map.

Spore. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrryML0XVuY? Maxis used to be fun.

Civ 5 too. Ugh if I wanted it off steam I would have bought it off steam. Not bought a steam installer.

Neverwinter Nights 2 - I just can't fanthom how this game gets so much love. I hated every minute I was playing it, and honestly can't bring myself to move past the point where you obtain Crossroads Keep. (I would also say the first NWN, if not for the epic expansions which totally nullified any problems I had with the vanilla campaign. HoTU, ALONE, makes the entire purchase more than worth it.)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Not because the game was bad, but because Steam crapped out on me and refused to allow me to play it. I regret losing money on buying a game that would crash as soon as I left the character creation screen, rather than for any problems I might have had with the game itself.

Dragon Age II-Didn't come anywhere close to the first game.

Grand Theft Auto IV-Couldn't get into it, nothing special about it.

Two Worlds-I thought hey here is a potentially good RPG, boy was I wrong.

Force Unleashed II- I was dying for a new game. One day I walked into Gamestop and picked it up on whim brand new.Never opened it and returned it a week later.

74C ain't going to break nothing, dude... My old desktop use to get to 90C on half life 2 and it still works to this day. I even played with the fan broke and it got to 114c in morrowind, lol. But that was kinda risky since the core threshold was 125c. My laptop gets to 80c sometimes and it still works.

Games I regret... Two worlds, gta4, primal rage. I mostly do a lot of research before I buy a game.

Oh, I forgot, Oblivion as well. Can't get past the first 10 minutes without falling into a boredom induced coma.

Though many of you have said the games that are on my list, allow me to chime in:

Two worlds 2: Great potential but just felt hollow and soulless, played about 3 hrs before returning it.

Borderlands: Not a bad game, just didn't resonate w/ me.

Dead Space 2: Another good game that just doesn't pull me in for some reason. It just makes me want to play RE 4.

And my top regrettable game purchase is, yes you guessed it,

The one, the only, the infamous:

Dragon Age 2

As this game has been discussed here on the boards in detail, I won't go into specifics. I will say I've never been so let down by a sequel. Didn't even bother too finish the game.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth was by far the greatest thing Bethesda has ever been attached to.
