So you didn't like Morrowind, you didn't like Oblivion and you didn't even like Fallout 3 but your hoping by some miracle Skyrim will be good?

Exactly  I mean...staggered and speechless are the only expressions that I can come up with it :stare:

Morrowind

Oblivion :yuck:

Fallout 3 :yucky:

Fallout: New Vegas :shakehead:

Ha ha yeah right. That's why youre here right? Because you "regret" buying these games. You regretted buying morrowind so you bought oblivion. You didn't like FO3 so you bought new vegas?

Unless you care to describe your logic, I'll just file your post under B.S.

Elemental: War of Magic. Great game, but I feel like it wasn't really worth 60 dollars.

People talking about Red Faction Guerilla really need to try Red Faction 1, it's way better. Since the action takes place mostly in a mine the destruction is actually used to awesome effect, you can get through areas quicker by blasting through mine walls and such. It's much more strategic, instead of Guerilla's "ZOMG BLOW UP DAT BUILDING!!!!"

2 is also good, but has less destructibility.

I've played the first, it is quite awesome!

Modern Warfare 2: Imbalanced multiplayer, short campaign, terrible maps, and generally worse than its predecessor in every single way.

Mercenaries 2: I bought it expecting it to be destructive fun like the first game. What I got was a glitchy, barely playable mess.

Fable 3: Fable 2 got it right with what it trimmed down. Combat was much more fun and fluid than the first game, and it was generally a very good game overall. Fable 3 trimmed down everything to the point of ridiculousness though. Stripping the inventory system and the health bar was just a terrible design decision. About the only improvement was the co-op system, that's it.

When I was a kid I bought Boiling Point: Road to Hell. Most probably none of you have heard of it. It was a sandbox game set in modern times. BUGGY AS HELL. The buggiest game I've ever played. Apart from crashing and freezing every 5 mins or so, basically every quest was bugged in some way.

I still managed to beat the game using cheats.

Anyone heard of this game?

It was released in 2005. I was 13/14. Heh.

EDIT: This picture is a classic:

Apparently drugs turn you green - LOL. That's a drug addict in the game.

I could swear there was a topic in here somewhere...strange, anyway, another game I regret buying coming up.

Red Faction Guerilla. And this is truly tragic, it's not because it's a bad game, or that I didn't like it. The sad thing is, i don't know. I have absolutely no idea for one very simple reason, it doesn't work.
I bought it during the last Steam summer sale (Along with close to 30 other games, god I love Steam) but this PC port was essentially unplayable. The "break stuff" mode seemed to work with a fair amount of performance issues, that was it. The rest of the game, such as the campaign was literally unplayable, I could load up the campaign, hear some guy talk to me and stand still, then the sound went to [censored] and all I could do was stand in place. Naturally I called I sad "Screw it" and haven't touched it since. I am considering getting armageddon though, it looks like a lot of fun for when i just want to break something, so we'll see about that.

It only cost me arund 15€ but I still regret it, for that price I could have gotten up to three small games or another game that was actually playable.

Also, I picked up "Foreign Legion: Buckets of blood" for maybe 5€, I can't really remember, it may actually have been slightly less even. In other words, dirt cheap. I learned an important lesson that day, one I hope all developers learn. Being an indie game does not excuse being [censored]. Honestly, it seemed there was no effort put into it and that annoys me both as a gamer and aspiring game designer.

EDIT: I saw Boiling Point: Road to Hell in stores when it was kinda new, in fact I think I saw it at a gamestop not too long ago. Never picked it up, sounds like that was a good decision.

Ugh, those graphics look like Deus Ex 1 (a game that's actually GOOD). And that game came out in 2000.

I got R.F. Guerilla for free some days ago when I bought the retail version of Metro 2033.
THQ gives a copy of Guerilla for every Metro 2033 copy and I got both for 20 euros!

Breach
Supreme Commander + Forged Alliance. I absolutely abhor that game, but it was included in that THQ mega pack along with CoH + Opposing Fronts, STALKER, Dawn of War, Titan Quest + Immortal Throne and Frontlines Fuel of war... so it was worth it :P
Neverwinter Nights - I don't like D&D RPGs
Sacred Gold on Steam... I really loved this game back when it was released but it DOES NOT AGE WELL and it runs horribly on modern computers. It's almost unplayable due to weird lag and framerate issues.
Star Trek Online
X3: Reunion (why I bought this instead of Terran Conflict I have no idea)

Games I do NOT regret buying: :D

Morrowind (I bought so many copies of this game Bethesda should send me a free copy of Skyrim <_< )
Minecraft (Bought during the Alpha phase)
Mass Effect
Left 4 Dead 2 (So much fun)

I regret not buying more copies of IHRA Drag Racing.

But the only game I can think of that I truly regret buying is Shadowrun for the Xbox 360. Believe it or not, back in high school that game completely changed the relationship between a handful of my friends and I that had real consequences visible all throughout the rest of high school that could all be traced back to a single multiplayer match. It's one of those things that would result in a very different timeline had it not taken place.

...Plus it was a terrible game.

I wasn't disappointed... it's just incredibly stupid to buy Reunion when you can buy Terran Conflict. That game has everything Reunion has and soooo much more.

I actually ended up buying Terran Conflict as well :P

Oh right.

Reunion was my first and only game where I had to take out a journal and write down information, mostly on buying/selling patterns to make a profit.

I heard that TC makes it easier on new players to get into the game too. In Reunion I literally had no idea what to do when I started.

Lord of the Rings: Conquest: I had such high expecations as well... after a number of great LOTR-themed games. It's one of the few games I can think of which i've actually put down after less than half an hour, I was that appalled by the gameplay.

Starcraft II: I can see why some people love it, but for me, it was just too simplistic for an RTS game.

Fable III: Huge disappointment.

I enjoyed Fable 3, especially compared to what I'd been led to expect, but the point about the inventory system, status bars and menu is well made: there's functional minimalism and then there's this. The design was, er, not well thought out, to put it politely. For example I don't expect to have to walk up to one of just five mannequins to make a save, and to have to resort to manually making copies of the save files to get a sensible number of slots. The thing about hearing your heartbeat and your vision becoming tinted red as you got injured seemed much less realistic than having a health bar, and it was unhelpful to the point of being bloody minded. Trying to sell stuff in shops was unintuitive and awkward, and buying options limited in the extreme.

So although I liked the game overall, the novelty menu system should remain just that: a novelty. I really don't wish to see anything like it again.
