George Lucas thinks the world will end in 2012

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:20 am

I'm personally think we'll see war come around due to terrorism and perhaps might see a "Terrorist Nation" so to speak.

Do you mean http://www.gijoemovie.net/Cobra.gif, the ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world?
No worries, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN034sBeF4c

Well, if Geroge Lucas says it, it must be true. I voted yes, the end will happen. Because George Lucas confirmed it. :goodjob:

Are there Mayans living today who still follow their ancient calendar and religion?

I thought they were all (forcibly) converted by the conquistadors and missionaries centuries ago.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_peoples http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_religion While their civilization was by and large conquered/broken, the people were still around and a lot were heavily segregated, which ended up preserving a lot of their customs.

I voted for the "no more resources" option. We're expected to hit peak oil in 2020, and its all downhill from there.

Nope. They are all Catholics. And, the "Mayas" alive today may or may not be direct descendants of the Mayas who built the great pyramids and cities and created the calendar. By the time the Spanish reached the area, no one really knew how the great cities were built or who built them...

Lastly, the Mayan calender doesn't "end" in 2012. The 13th Baktun ends on 2012, then the 14th Baktun starts... kind of like the 20th century ended and the 21st century started.

This world is not going to end in my lifetime I know that.

Also Nuclear Deterence people. What that basicly does is if YOU launch an ICBM someone else launches their ICBM.

If anything sends us back to the dark ages it would be Zombies or Nukes.

I can't put my answer for the world ending for it is religious and I do not wish to get this topic locked. :)

I doubt that the world will end in 2012, but if it does have to end, I hope its because an army of slow moving zombies attacks the world. At least that way I stand a very good chance of not being killed by zombies or psychotic humans.

I can't vote in the poll because there isn't a "I don't know" option.

That said, I wouldn't be against the world ending in 2012. It isn't like we're all that important in the bigger picture. We can barely populate an earth without polluting ourselves into extinction, which is btw how I think we will eventually go.

MorrowindFan: Keep dreaming, dude.

It's completely possible that somewhere in some universe there are in fact Mass Relays. ;)

Anyway, I know exactly why George thinks the world will end in 2012. And I agree with him. http://www.starwars.com/movies/saga/announce3d/index.html :shocking:

Our world will end in 2012? No, but a Great War will happen at October 23, 2077 :fallout:

:celebrate: That's six days after my 84th birthday. I hope I become ghoulified so that I may live to see society rebuild itself.
