Curse your pinky toenails for making me remember this -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqsT9V8DdBI

You made me picture Lucas wiggling his neck waddle to the beat backstage while they filmed that scene.

Update - George Lucas confirms conversation but claims he was "not serious" and he's taking Chris Rock with him on his spaceship instead of Rogen.

George Lucas Dispels Wild 2012 Apocalypse Rumor

Star Wars creator George Lucas was just kidding when he pvssyd with Seth Rogen about the Mayan prophecy of an apocalypse in 2012. But that hasn’t stopped news sites from regurgitating Rogen’s weird report that Lucas truly believes the end is near.
Even The Washington Post’s Celebritology 2.0 blog got in on the action Wednesday, with a post headlined, “Does George Lucas Think the World Will End in 2012?”

While the question mark might indeed be the blogger’s best friend, the answer to the query is a resounding “no.”

“I spoke with George,” said Lucasfilm rep Lynne Hale in an e-mail to Wired.com about this issue of obvious intergalactic importance.

“He was not serious when he talked about the end of the world in 2012 but he is an adamant believer that the world is flat, that Stonehenge was built by aliens, and that the sun revolves around the Earth,” Hale said. “These are among the many subjects he commonly discusses at length with Elvis, who he’s going to digitally insert into Indy 5 along with a roster of famous dead actors.”

While Lucas and his associates clearly have a sense of humor about the rumor’s wildfire propagation, Rogen was reportedly “left stunned” by Lucas’ comments during a meeting that was also attended by Steven Spielberg, according to The Toronto Sun story that set the rumor mill buzzing.

“George Lucas sits down and seriously proceeds to talk for around 25 minutes about how he thinks the world is gonna end in the year 2012, like, for real. He thinks it,” Rogen told the paper. “I first thought he was joking … and then I totally realized he was serious and then I started thinking, ‘If you’re George Lucas and you actually think the world is gonna end in a year, there’s no way you haven’t built a spaceship for yourself…. So I asked him…, ‘Can I have a seat on it?’”

The Green Hornet actor might well have been joking about the whole thing, too, and the blogosphere is clearly not going to let a little reporting get in the way of a thousand weaselly headlines. But one thing’s for sure: Rogen’s not getting a seat on Lucas’ rocket ship if doomsday hits next year.

“Seth Rogen is a funny guy,” Lucasfilm’s Hale said, “but George and Steven are taking Chris Rock with them on the Millennium Falcon!” (http://www.wired.com/underwire/2011/01/george-lucas-2012/)

Not in 2012 because of some silly astrological reasons, but in a few hundred years mankind will start to slowly destroy itself by completely going over its mental and productive capacity, overconsumption, aging and social problems. I don't think war will play an important role in mankind's demise but nevertheless I'm eagerly waiting for it (although only to see if I was right).

But, I admit, destruction of human kind will never mean one hundred percent annihilation unless we or something else really messes up this planet, but I feel that humanity may one day be reduced to just a few million individuals. Humans are just always taking twenty to a life boat of a dozen, sinking the ship and killing everyone.

It has the same chance of ending as any other year.
Most likely cause would be a Super volcano. Ash clouds would cause famine across the world, all people in the immediate area the size of at least 30 American states (I'm not saying that it could only possibly be in America I'm just giving you an idea of the scale) will die and a lot of the Earth's atmosphere will have microscopic glass shards in it which with cut your alveoli making you breathe out blood.

No way the world is going to end in 2012 - Give me one good evidence of this, I dare you.
And if something is going to destroy the world at some point I think the most likely scenario is a supervolcano. Or a meteor. I definitely don't think we will cause our own extinction, it certainly would be ironic, but I just think humans are too smart for that to happen. We humans are pretty clever beings, even if we do some really stupid stuff all the time.

There have been many dark ages in human history, or periods where an advanced civilization preceded one that was less advanced.

Only in the past century or so, however, has there been a sort of global civilization with shared knowledge and resources that would seem especially resilient in the face of a catastrophic adversity. It seems likely that the longer humanity lasts, the larger the statistical chance of some form of extinction event or civilization-ending disaster. At some point in the span of tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of years, there is likely to be some terrible catastrophe beyond anything humans have ever experienced.

Our technology advances exponentially, providing hope that we have some way of averting this disaster when it occurs, but these advancements also result in new methods and means for causing such a disaster.

I thought it was after he dropped http://joyhog.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/howard-the-duck-dvd1.jpg on us in 1986.

Nope, because Willow and IJ: TLC were actually good. Everything after that though.....

I thought the year ends December 31. So far for over 2000 years December 31 showed up and so far the Earth didn't end. Our calender ends, the Myan's calander ends. The difference? Ours last 365 days, while the Myan's lasted for 1000's of years.

What the? Oh good grief. Georgie, Georgie, Georgie.....
...I'm beginning to think his brain is slowly being eaten away by an alien that's residing in that giant chin/neck wattle.

Don't believe in the 2012 stuff. Of course, if I'm wrong...hey, at least it'll mean no more mortgage payments.
