Grimhound's PC Bug List (Ever-growing)

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:21 am

Lol, did anyone else have a bug with ED-E's quest where those people contact you through her, and then suddenly the guy talking has a completely different voice (sounded indian or something iirc). What the hell was that?

Also confirming the ghoul intercom discrepancies

Using Euclid's c-finder results in the tracking beam appearing, and the weapon not firing. I've tried console adding ammo and firing repeatedly with no success. Ive tried fast traveling, reloading a save, and buying a second one, with no success.

PC
(MAJOR) On certain systems (mine) the character will keep running or moving on his own uncontrollably if you hold down the keys too long (like 3 seconds) and any commands (besides steering) you issue while he's moving automatically will lag horribly. Using the mouse wheel during this time will cause a horrible beeping sound. Nothing anybody's suggested has completely solved this problem not even patches.

Novac
(MAJOR) CTD if you enter McBride house save load and try to exit.

Caravan game is either broken and/or very poorly designed.

Primm
Ruby Nash doesn't give you the casserole even if you have radscorpion tails

NCRCF
You will have no doctor option with Hannigan

(minor) The dialogue for the bounty hunter has him give evasive answers even if you've already exposed him

Xbox360

Mohave Outpost
Would you have a heart quest: the giant ants you are supposed to kill are sometimes trapped underneath the road.

NCRCF
Attacking NCR troops sometimes spawn inside walls

waypoint system is bugged forcing you do pass certain points before it switches to the right location.

That first one sounds more like an issue with a [censored] keyboard or your computer than the game itself. I don't know why it's doing that with the mousewheel but the keeping running sounds like you may have hit Q (autorun)

I got the casserole from Ruby Nash just fine... its the glands she wants, its specific.

Its not q. It happens every time I hold down one of the movement keys for too long and autorun doesn't explain the lag in commands, If I'm not imagining things the patch slightly improved things by allowing me to hold down the keys a little longer but didn't solve it.

Also Ruby flat out says I don't have glands when they are right there in my inventory.

I don't know if this is a bug or an oversight or deliberate. All of the containers and items in the Ultra-Luxe Bon Vivant Suite are marked as owned. I'm leaning towards it being a bug/oversight as the Tops reward suite belongs to the player.

'Please fix'? Hah, I'd settle for 'please acknowledge the existence of'. Are there no computer-savvy high schoolers in Bethesda, MD, to troll forums for bug reports and compile a known issues page? Even a 'thank you for reporting a bug; we value our customers' automatic-reply form letter would be better than the dead silence one actually gets after reporting a bug to support@gamesas.com.

A bug I've been having, and some googling has confirmed, is that if you have a low-intelligence character (eg. INT 1, 2 or 3) the game doesn't activate any of the low-intelligence dialogue. A forum member said that the low-intelligence dialogue even exists in Goodsprings but after 8 hours of play I've encountered none with a 1 INT character, and another forum member confirmed for me that they weren't getting the low-intelligence dialogue either.

The doctor at the beginning makes a comment about you being dumb just after you use the SPECIAL machine, but that's it.

When you swim on the surface of the water in 3rd person you seem more to hover over it than be moving through it.

The Water Consumed stat doesn't update as expected.

Walking forward with a crippled leg in 3rd person view does not make a footstep sound.

I tried contacting their support staff via email for fallout GOTY edition last month. The first two responses I got back were copypasta that had nothing to do with what I asked. After receiving my third email, with me typing in large bold font that it is not the issue, the person responded back with send me a DXIAG. The fourth email it was him explaining that my issue was related to windows xp and that fallout was never designed for windows XP. The dxdiag I sent him was for my computer, windows 7. Needless to say, the 5th email never went out and my issue was not resolved.\

It's common place these days to release unfinished products alongside with poor support. And I'm very used to it and almost expect it with each game. But lets just say this game takes the cake. Clearly there was no internal testing done what so ever. The bugs that are showing up are just laughable. Thank god these guys have nothing to do with fallout online.

[*]The Cowboy Repeater has an issue where it can lock up firing, loading, weapon switching, Pipboy activation, etc. It leaves you only able to move until it resolves.
-There are reports of this happening with other weapons including shotgun variants and the grenade launcher. Unable to personally confirm at this time.

This bug can be easily recreated by firing any number of rounds from weapons that involve "1-round-at-a-time reloading" that can be interrupted by firing. When you prompt a reload, or it occurs automatically, make sure you are moving. When the weapon has finished fully reloading you will be unable to take any actions for about 1-2 seconds.

Considering roughly half of all the games guns are reloaded this way, I'm waiting on a patch.

This is a long shot, but it might help..

Make sure you have sticky keys, filter keys, etc. disabled in the control panel of your OS. It'll be under "ease of access center" under "make my keyboard easier to use" if you are using the classic control panel. Sometimes this messes up games and you won't need it unless you are disabled in a way that makes it hard to use the keyboard.

-------BUG REPORT------

As far as bugs go, since I list one with every post to this thread, I just had my first CTD around the area where you are supposed to take Rex to get healed. I didn't notice anything unusual before it happened either. Just BOOM, CTD. It was in one of the "tree glens". There were a bunch of pines and not much else.

I have also noticed that my male character has female "grunt" noises when he gets hit. How did THAT get through QA? WOW.

I've had a lot of aggro problems with Rex, usually with generic NPCs.

Same problem. Rex aggro's just about any npc I stay near for more than 12-17 seconds. Doesn't matter if I have idolized status in the area I'm in. They just attack each other out of nowhere.

It's really freakin lame. I thought the problem was limited to camp McCarran but it isn't. It happened to me again in the boomers base, which I was idolized with at the time. Just outta nowhere the npc and rex started fighting each other.

im on the mission "still in the dark"

where you have to speak with elder mcnamara in the command room.

Problem is that he is just stuck standing in the middle of hidden valley bunker level 1 and wont move...

Is there any way to fix this?

thats a screen shot that elder mcnamara standing : http://i51.tinypic.com/2mgs1w3.jpg

notes:
I have tried leaving the area and coming back, loading an earlier save, restarting the game, almost anything you can think of.

help ,plz

Can i reload or restart the mission ?

I just had a similar problem with a different quest where the actor got stuck because of the stupid ED-E bug making people attack him. What I did was open console commands with the "~"(tilde). Then I targeted the actor and used the "resurrect" command on him. When I exited console he continued walking to his destination and I could finally get the quest to continue forward properly. Hope this helps.

I keep running into the issue of resources not loading on maps. Upgrading it from a minor inconvenience to a serious issue at this point.

Is Veronica supposed to be able to change weapons?

If you have Boone in your party, his Spotter perk makes hostiles glow red when you aim at them. He's also auto-hostile against Caesar's Legion.

Wait, what? Companions can use other weapons? I have given all of the companions weapons with ammo with the exception of ede and rex and none of them switched to them. All I get them to do is put on armor that I give them, that's it. I specifically gave them what they asked for, for example Raul asking for a pistol, and he still didn't switch.

The Wiki does list the inability to change companion weapons as a bug.

I happened to read that this problem was 'resolved', already... but I do have the weird delayed sound thing.

Furthermore, I have done the ctrl + alt + del, set high priority fix. And it worked!

But do I really have to do it EVERY time? Or is there a better solution to the problem?

Just ran into NPCs randomly attacking ED-E again. This time in the Vikki & Vance Casino.
